Friday 5!

Hey all! I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0.

Today's theme is Holiday Recipes. I'm not much of a cook, but I do love to bake! So I will share a recipe with you for Pumpkin Cookies that are HANDS DOWN THE BEST PUMPKIN COOKIES YOU WILL EVER EAT. I'm not joking! A friend of mine made them with gluten free flour and she said they were still delicious!

Now for some random stuff...

2. Back in early June, I broke the strap on my Garmin. It is now mid November and I still have not fixed my strap or bought a new one. This is NEXT LEVEL procrastination! Are you wondering what I do with my Garmin during my run? I hold it! I know, it's ridiculous!

3. My running has been going pretty well lately. I feel good during my runs and I am happy! I would love to incorporate some long runs every weekend. I think alternating weeks with a 10 miler and a 12 miler would be just perfect right now. I have no reason to be running super long or running more than about 30-35 miles per week. I am still sticking with 5 days of running. That is my sweet spot and I don't want to mess with it.

4. I'm still in shorts! Despite the fact that it's around 35 degrees *some* mornings, I am still rocking shorts on my run. Sure, I'll have on two long sleeved shirts, a vest, earmuffs, and two pairs of gloves... but for some reason my legs and butt aren't cold yet!

5. My life is about to get a little crazier... after losing about 4 piano students this past summer, I just picked up 3 more! So now I have a full studio of students, which is good because I have more income, but bad because I have less time. I'm trying to go into this with a positive attitude. I like teaching piano lessons and I already have a lot of time to do what I want to do. A couple more piano students barely changes that.
What is your sweet spot for number of running days per week?

Is there anything you are procrastinating on right now?

Do you think you will try those pumpkin cookies?

  1. 4 days running & 1 day each of cycling and swimming is my sweet spot. Now that it is winter and I won't run on the treadmill (and I try to limit time on the indoor track) I need to just be happy with whatever. Which is why I love summer...I NEVER have to modify my workout schedules based on the weather. I will definitely make those cookies. I love to bake. Congrats on all the new students. Think of all the extra $$ for vacation!!

    1. No it's not winter yet is it!? I saw something on FB that you commented on... did it snow in CO already? Yes I will be happy for the extra vacation money! After teaching all day at school, I came home yesterday and taught 5 lessons.. but that's $100!

    2. Yeah, we got our first snow :( It didn't stick to the roads because it was 80 degrees the day before! Now the sun is shining and we will be back into the 50s-60s this weekend. Wow, 5 lessons. Good for you. You will be so happy once you are enjoying a lovely summer vacation!

  2. I cant believe you hold your watch while you run! Could you put it in a pocket or something? Or do you want to be able to see it and thats why you hold it? I think I told you think but I replaced my garmin to get a new strap awhile ago and I remember it being easier than I expected!

    1. I could put it in a pocket but I'm afraid I'll bump a button and it will turn off. I don't look at it a lot when I run. Sometimes I look at the mileage more than I look at the pace. I'll check the pace when I'm done.

  3. My running sweet spot is 4 days per week. I tried 3 and it wasn't right.

I procrastinate all the time. I finally got Cocoa spayed this week--that would have been bad to put that off any longer...

    1. That explains the cone of shame I saw in insta!

  4. Those cookies look goooood! I just made Oreo cake balls for my teenager to take to school. I run 3-4 days. Lately it's been 3. You're carrying your watch! Too freaking funny!

    1. Oreo cake balls sounds delish. For some reason cake balls sound complicated to me but I bet they aren't.

  5. Awhile ago my Garmin strap broke on my old watch. But luckily I was going to a race that same weekend and I went to the Garmin Expo booth and they put a new strap on it for me free of charge.

    1. How convenient! And nice that they did that for no charge.

  6. I swear it is really easy to make. I don't even do dry ingredients in one bowl and wet in another. I just mix the wet and dump the dry in there. Nothing bad happens!

  7. I hope Santa reads this post cus he will see that you either need a new strap for your Garmin or can fanangle a way to put it back together! I may actually make those pumpkin cookies!

  8. That was duct tape is for! I've been putting off replacing my headphones, but have put them on my birthday list. The clip to keep them on my shirt broke in the summer, so I've been using a safety pin, and the ear buds keeps coming off. But they still work!!

  9. I'm not big on pumpkin things, but those cookies look fabulous!

    1. How do you survive fall around here when they tend to pumpkin-ize everything? hehe. I like pumpkin baked goods but not into coffee or cereal pumpkin stuff.

  10. I will def try those pumpkin cookies. I already bookmarked this page! Congrats on getting more piano students! Those kids are lucky to have a teacher like you. What am I procrastinating on? Moving Callum into his own bed. Right now he sleeps on a mattress on the floor beside our bed but he comes into our bed almost every night. My neck is so sore right now from sleeping weird with him beside me. I am buying a toddler bed off Craiglist today though, so hopefully he stays in his new bed tonight!

    1. Oh man I hope he sleeps in it for you! Maybe he will think it is cool and he is a big boy?? Haha fingers crossed for you my friend!

  11. I'll give them a try, saving the page now.

    Rock those shorts!!

The new kids are lucky to have you, I hope they appreciate that!

My sweet spot changes from week to week... week 1 is 4 days week 2 is 5 days.

  12. This is probably a stupid question, but do the pumpkin cookies taste pumpkin-y? They look delicious but I'm not a fan of pumpkin anything (pie, lattes, slices, etc).

I honestly don't think it's ridiculous that you hold your Garmin. My skin is super sensitive and sometimes my Garmin strap makes my wrist break out in hives and I have to hold it in my hand. You do what you gotta do! But you probably do deserve to buy yourself a new Garmin strap :) Make it a christmas gift from the kids (by the kids I mean chrissy and jelly of course).

    1. They do taste pumpkin-y but not spicy. :)

Ooh a Garmin strap from Chrissy and Jelly is what I need!

  13. I procrastinate on things like mailing a book to a friend, administrative things, but the second I put it on a to do list, it gets done pretty quickly. Fixing a Watch strap would definitely mean procrastination, just like replacing a Watch battery.
5 days of running is way too much for me. 3 to 4 tops, else I get injured + bored.
New students ? Makes life interesting.
Training for anything at the moment ?

    1. I love to do lists! Clearly the watch strap is not on mine. I'm not training for anything right now. I don't race a lot. I just like to run. :)

  14. Wow! I can't believe you hold your broken Garmin. I'm going to have to try those pumpkin cookies.

  15. Those cookies look amazing! I'm glad your running is going well and you are enjoying it- I think 10-12 miles is plenty for a long run, honestly, unless you are training for a marathon. Even my fastest half was run with 10 mile long runs rather than really long ones. Glad you picked up some extra piano students, the cash is good for the holidays.

    1. 10-12 might be much. When I see it in print, it sounds like a lot! I suppose maybe I will only do 12 if I feel like it and if it feels good.

  16. I've been in shorts for a while, too. And I'm so happy. Except this weekend the temperature is going to drop 40 degrees. I'm totally not ready for this.

  17. Um, go to Amazon right now and order a new Garmin - or at least a new strap?

  18. I wore capris for my run on Friday and regretted it. It was 59 degrees and I should have known better!! My legs heat up really fast on a run; I usually am still in shorts or skirts when it's in the 40s!
