I HAVE TO REMEMBER TO TAKE MY TRAZODONE!!!

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...
Early Wednesday morning, at 3:23, Jelly woke me up with his "I'm hungry" antics... which means he scratched my bedroom door relentlessly until I got up to feed him.

When I got back in bed, I felt hot, restless, and wide awake. "Why oh why???" I wondered to myself. Then I knew why. I forgot to take my trazodone before bed.

This is the second time this week I forgot to take my trazodone and the same thing happened... 4 hours of sleep and then wide awake.

It was a bummer because we had a 2 hour delay on Wednesday morning, so I could have slept until 7:30! What a waste of a delay...

I need to get my act together at night and remember to take my pill. Any tips on how I can remember to do this? Other than just REMEMBER? I keep it right in my bedside table...

A Day in my Life

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I love Mondays! Here is A Day in My Life post from this past Monday!

My day started at 5:30, as usual. At 6 on the dot, I rolled up to this beautiful place…

Everyone listens to this soundtrack at the gym, right?

I warmed up for about 3 miles and then I did a progression run until I was at a 7 min pace. I stopped at 8 miles even though I would’ve loved to keep going. I was running out of time.

It was a no makeup type of day, but I was wearing a new pair of earrings and a new sweater from Community Aid. The sweater was $1!! Don’t hate me!

I freaking love these earrings!

My work schedule was “easy” on this day. I taught a woodwind lesson and then a second grade music class.

After that, I tuned 23 ukuleles (took me only 15 minutes because I am just THAT GOOD!) so that they were ready for my fourth grade class, who came in next.

Then I had lunch. I took the opportunity to pour my third coffee of the day and get my classroom ready for my afternoon classes. I also did two Spanish lessons on my phone.

That afternoon I taught a kindergarten class, to first grade classes, and another fourth grade class. We had a fire drill at the end of the day. It was so cold!

After work I had therapy. Then I went to Cork and Fork in Harrisburg for dinner and drinks. I was home by eight for a vodka soda, which I drank while blogging and catching up on the news!

Sorry, I feel like this post just turned into a bunch of  make up-less selfies lol!
Any good thrift store finds lately?
How many cups of coffee do you drink each day?

How I Make Quiche

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...
Hello! Today I'm going to share some of my quiche recipes and how I make them!

Note: I do not measure ANYTHING! I just eye it up because the amount of eggs, etc, varies depending on the size pan I use. Sometimes I use a pie pan, muffin tin, an 8x8, and I've even done like a 4x10 ish pan as well. You should definitely need at least 4 eggs, 2 egg whites, and 1/2 a cup of milk. But you can certainly use more of all of those things. Just eye it up!

Chicken, Feta, Spinach Quiche

Ingredients:

spinach feta chicken sausage (from Karn's)
spinach
feta
eggs
egg whites
skim milk
salt/pepper/garlic

1. Preheat the oven to 375. Then get to work making the chicken sausage in a pan on the stove.

2. While the chicken sausage is being cooked, put a bag of frozen spinach in the microwave and warm it up.

3. Whisk eggs, egg whites, skim milk, salt, pepper, and garlic in a bowl.

4. Once the sausage and spinach are done, it's time for the fun part! Spray whatever pan you plan to use with nonstick cooking spray. Coat the bottom of the pan with spinach, dump the feta on that, dump the chopped up chicken sausage on that, and then pour the egg mixture on everything. If you find you don't have enough egg mixture, just whisk up another egg with some milk and pour it on top. I've done that more than once and it turns out okay!

5. Cook for around 40 minutes... just keep checking it. You should be able to stick a fork in the middle without anything sticking to it when you pull it out.

Bacon Broccoli Cheeseburger Quiche

Ingredients:

ground turkey
cheddar cheese
bacon
broccoli
eggs
egg whites
skim milk
salt/pepper/garlic

1. Preheat the oven to 375. Then get to work making the ground turkey in a pan on the stove. Or, if you're lucky like me, simply get it out of the fridge because your husband made it for you the night before!

2. Also start making the bacon!

3. While the ground turkey and bacon is being cooked, put a bag of frozen broccoli in the microwave and warm it up.

4. Whisk eggs, egg whites, skim milk, salt, pepper, and garlic in a bowl.

4. Once the ground turkey, bacon, and broccoli are done, it's time for the fun part! Spray whatever pan you plan to use with nonstick cooking spray. Coat the bottom of the pan with broccoli, dump the ground turkey, bacon, and cheese on that. Then pour the egg mixture on everything. Again, if you find you don't have enough egg mixture, just whisk up another egg with some milk and pour it on top.

5. Cook for around 40 minutes... just keep checking it. You should be able to stick a fork in the middle without anything sticking to it when you pull it out.

Spinach, Tomato, and Goat Cheese Quiche

Ingredients:

ground turkey
goat cheese
tomatoes
spinach
eggs
egg whites
skim milk
salt/pepper/garlic

1. Preheat the oven to 375. Then get to work making the ground turkey in a pan on the stove. Or, if you're lucky like me, simply get it out of the fridge because your husband made it for you the night before!

2. While the ground turkey and bacon is being cooked, put a bag of spinach in the microwave and warm it up.

4. Cut up those cherry tomatoes!

5. Whisk eggs, egg whites, skim milk, salt, pepper, and garlic in a bowl.

6. Once the ground turkey and spinach are done, it's time for the fun part! Spray whatever pan you plan to use with nonstick cooking spray. Coat the bottom of the pan with spinach, dump the ground turkey, tomato, and goat cheese on that. Then pour the egg mixture on everything.

5. Cook for around 40 minutes... just keep checking it. You should be able to stick a fork in the middle without anything sticking to it when you pull it out.

Weekend Highlights!!!! (and a big 'ol freaking low light)

Happy Monday!
Here are some highlights from my weekend....

1. Let's just start with a highlight from early Friday morning... Roger Stone got indicted. Wahoo!

2. On Saturday afternoon, had an AWESOME progression run on the treadmill. My old paces are getting much easier for me now!

3. Even though I didn't feel like doing it, I cleaned my whole house and did all of the wash. There was so much cat litter....

4. Saturday night's dinner was Sushi at Akita's in Lemoyne. So good!

Now for the low light...

I forgot to take my sleeping pills on Saturday night, which means I slept for four hours, woke up at 2am, and never fell back asleep. It FREAKING SUCKED. It basically ruined my whole day because I had no energy to do anything.

I did manage to do this puzzle and watch Gone Girl before the sun even came up...

I thought I could cheer myself up with a trail run, but I drove all the way to the trail to discover it was a SHEET of ice. I had to go back home and run in my neighborhood. Another huge bummer. I cried. It was that kind of day.

Oh, did I tell you I got my period that morning too? I basically feel sick the first day of my period... like I am coming down with the flu, nauseated, lower back pain, cramps, GI issues... it freaking SUCKS. I wish I didn't have to get my period. I know people who got that ablation thing but I'm not sure it helps with symptoms other than bleeding. I don't care about the bleeding. It's all the other bullshit that sucks.

Then I just spent the rest of the day distracting myself so I wouldn't fall asleep to early. I started the Netflix show called You. It's very good. I guess you could call my time watching that show the one and only highlight from Sunday.

I wanted to stay up to watch Rent but I DVR'ed instead. I'm sure I'll wake up at like 4 tomorrow morning and have time to watch it before work.... BLECH.

Sorry to end this on a sour note!
Tell me a highlight from your weekend!

La Vie Boheme

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...
I've been running on the treadmill a lot lately, and whenever I bump up the speed, I switch from podcasts to music. It's always either Queen, Aerosmith, Lady Gaga or.... show tunes! My favorite show tunes to run to are from the musicals Les Mis, The Book of Mormon, and Rent. Listening to Rent really takes me back...

The first time I heard a song from the musical Rent was when I was 16. It was after a show choir rehearsal and my friends and I stuck around to sing and dance afterwards. (Because we didn't do enough singing and dancing at show choir practice I guess!!??) The song was called La Vie Boheme and I immediately loved it.

Every time I hear the song (especially the part at 2:28 in the recording above where the bass line in the piano starts) I am instantly brought back to high school! I remember blasting La Vie Boheme from my bedroom or from the bathroom while I was shaving my legs.

My parents were pretty cool for not minding this. After all, the song was full of "inappropriate" things for a 16 year old to be singing...

"To leather, to dildos, to curry vindaloo"

"Mucho masturbation"

"To sodomy, it's between God and me

To S&M!"

"To marijuana!"

I'm pretty sure I didn't know what sodomy, S&M, and dildos were back then!

In high school, my mom took me to see Rent on Broadway. It was so freaking cool to see it on stage. When I was 29, I was lucky enough to perform in the show at York Little Theater. I had the bit part of Alexi Darling and was in the ensemble.

"Mark Cohen, Alexi Darling, from Buzzline!"

Rehearsal!

Backstage with friends!

Backstage with friends!

My friend Sean took this cool pic of me backstage.

Mike (our Roger) would lead a circle to get us hype before every show.

It was very interesting to perform in Rent as an adult. I realized that when I was in high school, I didn't fully understand all the nuances in the show. It was also interesting that when Rent was first performed in 1994, HIV was considered a death sentence. That's not the case anymore.

I had this post ruminating in my head for awhile, and it is crazy I decided to post it today because when I got up this morning, I was looking for movie showtimes and I saw an add that a live performance of Rent would be airing TONIGHT at 8pm on Fox! What are the odds!? My DVR is set!
Have you ever seen Rent onstage or on film?
Are you going to watch it tonight on Fox at 8pm!?

Weekly Workouts!

Solid week!

Saturday- 6 miles on the AT. I was still feeling sick but I really wanted to get out on the trail. I knew it would be beautiful due to the snow we got on Thursday night, and as always, the AT didn't disappoint!

 Sick, not high.

Sunday- 6 miles on the treadmill. I had an AWESOME progression run. I started at 6.5 on the treadmill (9:13 pace) and bumped it up one notch every quarter mile until I reached 5.5 miles. That got me to a 6:53 pace! Then I spent a half mile cooling down. It was a great workout but it wasn't super hard. My heart rate didn't get above 140, so that is good!

Monday- 4 mile progression run and lifting. I ended at a 6:22 pace. I'm getting fast again. It's about damn time!

Tuesday- 8 treadmill miles. You guys, I am a TREADMILL RUNNING MACHINE!!!!

Wednesday- 6 treadmill miles. My legs were actually pretty tired. I'm definitely lifting tomorrow.

Thursday- Lifting! No leg work. Trying to be good. :)

Friday-  2 treadmill miles and a circuit. 1000 jump ropes, 100 burpees, 100 mountain climbers, 200 bicycle crunches, 100 kettle bell swings (my ass hurts!) and 100 stability ball pull ins!!!

How were your workouts this week?
