Spinning during a March 1st Snow/Ice Storm...

On Sunday, it was March 1st.

On Sunday, Central PA had a snow/ice storm.

COME OOOOOOOOOOOOON!

I wanted to run. I wanted to have sushi and play games at our friends' house.

But no. Winter is still here. FREAKING WINTER.

Instead of running and instead of braving the roads to go to the gym, I did a spin workout on the spin bike I kind of forgot that I owned.

I get bored on the bike, but I think I broke up my workout into manageable segments...

I also positioned my bike so I could look out the window and feel like I was biking in a winter wonderland.

I listened to some music, which is really rare for me. I have a strange set up... I load up the songs/videos I want to spin to on Youtube and then position my lap top right in front of my spin bike so I can start/stop the songs.

Here are 4 of my favorite songs/videos to spin to...

Laid - James
(THIS IS ONE OF MY FAVORITE SONGS EVER!)

Bad Romance - Lady Gaga

California Girls - Katie Perry

Rag Doll- Aerosmith

Hey, whatever motivates ya, right?

I watched Lady Gaga's Grammy performance during my cool down. You know, I am not a Sound of Music fan, but she made me REALLY like it! And I had tears in my eyes when Julie Andrews came out and they hugged. I am such a sucker...

I got a great 40 minute workout. I'm glad I did it, because all we did was lounge around for the rest of the day!

**UPDATE: MY KNEE/IT BAND WAS PULSATING LATER THAT DAY!
I GUESS SPINNING AGGRAVATES IT AGAIN!!!
Do you have any random songs you like to workout to?

  1. Excellent music choices! What a great idea to prop your bike in front of your window!! On stormy days I always find myself looking out to see what the neighbours are up to and if they're shovelling yet or not, lol. My IT band gets annoyed when I use the indoor bike as well. :(

    1. Yah you can creep on your neighbors while exercising!

I was really bummed about the IT band, especially since I RAN 10 miles the day before and it felt GREAT. I guess it is something about the repetitive motion of spinning...

  2. So annoying about your knee! Besides that, at least you got a good, fun indoor workout done! Spring will be here soon and you will be all set to run outside!

    1. From reading the comments it seems like I'm not the only one in which spinning aggravates my knee. I don't feel so weird now! Hey today I ran in ONE pair of pants!!

  3. I have the same problem w cycling annoying my ITB. Some people have suggested the seat might not be adjusted correctly, but I have yet to find that sweet spot. I think I push myself too hard too soon on the bike...

    1. I am definitely not an expert on seat placement so that could be my problem for sure!

  4. We're getting dumped on here, too. It's funny, after 28 years of dealing with gross snowy Marches, I'm still not used to the fact that Spring isn't here when the calendar strikes March 1.

I love "Rag Doll"! One of my favorites to listen to when I work out is "The Man" by Aloe Blacc. Cause I am the wo-man, hehe

    1. Yeah, March is definitely still winter in my neck of the woods. It's not until April where you can count on no snow!

  5. I have my bike with the back facing the window. I often thought about turning it around so I can look out the window but we live in a cul de sac and not much activity goes on for me to watch..lol. In the summer I will take my bike out on the patio though. For now, I don't listen to music while I ride. I usually watch tv or read blogs!

    1. Taking it outside is a great idea!!! I'd need my hubby to help me get it down the steps.

  6. So funny because I love to listen to music driving around town and when I clean (venue) but the rest of the time I rarely listen to music. And, I can't even tell you the last time I watched a music video.

    1. Do you listen to music while you workout?

I remember when I was in HS and music videos were just sooo popular.

  7. You're not on instagram so you missed my last post...I ran to Celine Dion during my last run!! SO random but I wanted some power ballads I could just enjoy while I ran hehe.

I'll send you some warm weather in exchange for one last cold front. I really need it to cool down here again soon!

    1. WOW! What song??? I used to love the one that was about her lover that died in the motorcycle accident... I forget how it went, but I was obsessed with the video!

  8. Oh no, sorry to hear about the pulsing in your IT band. How is it feeling now?

My right knee seems to always feel tender after I do the stationary bike even though it never does after running (ever). I guess my leg is bent more while I'm on the bike?

I always listen to California Gurls when I am running on the treadmill!

    1. LOVE CALIFORNIA GURLS! :) We are soul sistahs!!

I totally think it is the way the leg bends and the repetitive motion of the cycling. I wonder if some of the people who do tris could comment on this?? I know a couple of them read from time to time!

IT band/knee felt better in the morning. :) But boy was it angered!!!!

  9. I loooooove her. I've seen her interviewed and she seems so down to earth and real. :)

  10. At least you improvised a little and made the best out of being on the spin bike at home. I like the idea of parking the bike right in front of the window. Pretty! The other day I was all about the music that brought me back to my high school years.... old school Britney (Hit me Baby One More Time), Christina (Genie in a Bottle), and TLC (No Scrubs). Loved it!!
