3 Degrees!!! (VLOG)

On Sunday, the real feel was 3 degrees! I was feeling lazy, so I decided to go for a run.

That sounds like an oxymoron, but hear me out. I knew it would take more energy to lift than to go for an easy 6 miler. Why didn't I take a rest day? GOOD QUESTION! But the answer is because I took a rest day the day before.

The run turned out to be sooooo slow. It was really hard to breathe whenever there was any sort of incline. I wondered if it was from the cold or from being sick.

I vlogged as soon as I got home from my run to show you how I kept warm on my run. And yes, I was very warm!!!!

What do you wear when it's FREEZING??????

  1. OMG I honestly can't believe you left your house in that type of weather. It's 42 degrees out right now and I could barely force myself to get out of bed!

It's crazy to see you peel off all those layers! I'm glad they kept you warm. I hope I will be warm when I walk out the front door today. I am going to wear a shirt, sweater, peacoat, boots and maybe two scarves! lol

    1. So in PA (as you know) we get crazy hot/humid weather (not as bad as FL but really hot!) and also FREEZING cold weather. So I have had those days too where it's been warm for awhile and then we have a random day in the low 40s and it's like... omgggg it's soooooo cold out. BUT if we had a day in the low 40s now, we'd be like, LET'S GO SWIMMING!!! It's all relative. Hey I heard parts of FL got snow! We had snow today too and a 2 hour delay due to road conditions, but I took off sick. Still sick...

  2. When it's freezing, I like to put on a big sweater or comfy cardigan, jeans, and fuzzy socks or camp socks! If I leave the house then a scarf is a must so my face doesn't freeze.

I'm glad I'm not the only one would be be crazy enough to go for a run in that cold of weather!

    1. Well I feel like where we live, if we enjoy running outside, we have to get used to running in less than desirable temps!

  3. The baclava comment made me laugh because I always have the same fear! I’m trying to convince myself to get into winter running but the amount of “equipment” (aka: clothing) I’d need seems like a lot. Plus I’m convinced my toes would freeze. Maybe because the real feel for later this week is actually going to be -40. Maybe my treadmill will keep getting all my love!

    1. -40!!!!???? Do you mean -4??? I hope you mean -4. -4 is really cold too. :) Yes it was a lot of clothes to keep warm and my toes were cold at first, like right away. I was scared they weren't going to warm up and I would have to go inside after all that work getting bundled up... But once I started running and my body temp went up, my feet were fine. That being said, I did hit up the treadmill a couple times this week so it is so wonderful to have that option!!

  4. It's so cold here and we have snow on the ground, which is rare for Charleston. We made it to the gym yesterday so I did some ellipticalling... got something in... but no way am I going to try to run in this and risk falling! I had so many friends who did, though. I'm honestly just using these days as rest and hoping it will help my hamstring/glute issues!

I understand why you ran instead of lifting. It's like running vs. cross training. Cross training takes up SOOO much more of my time because of driving to and from the gym. Running... I just walk outside and I can go.

    1. I don't run when it is slippy either! I'm afraid of falling as well. It is time consuming going to the gym. I can lift at home, but it really still requires more energy for me to lift because I like to go as heavy as I can but with lower reps.

  5. Wow I didn't realize VA would go without snow so often. We get snow in PA every year. Normally we don't get it until Jan and our big dumps come in March!

  6. I would go out in 3 degrees but I am in Colorado so we do get this cold from time to time. Having good gear is totally key and then you don't have to bulk up with layers. Today it was 26 and it felt warm! I am glad (for now) we are not getting hit with snow like much of the US!

    1. 26!? That would seem soooo warm now! We have a two hour delay tomorrow because the wind chill will be -11! It will be 22 on Sunday which will be "warm" enough to take down all my Christmas lights...

    1. Sometimes I would pick the gym too! It depends on my mood.
