What I Wore To Work This Week (Friday 5)

Hello, Friends! I'm back at work which means I actually have to put on "real" clothes!

Today, I am going to share my outfits from the first 5 days of school. (School started on Thursday, that's why these are Thurs-Wed outfits!)

A note: I like to dress up for work but I always want to be comfortable. I rarely wear heels. I rarely wear dress pants. I like nice clothes but I'm always looking for a DEAL!

~ Thursday ~

I think this is the third year in a row I wore this black and white striped dress on the first day of school. It's cotton and stretchy, which means it's very comfortable. My classroom has been stuffy these past couple days, so it keeps me cool as well.

Comfy sandals- please ignore my ugly feet.

Statement necklace! I always get a lot of compliments on this.

~ Friday  ~

I love this blue dress. I got it at Maurice's way back in college, so I have had it for over 15 years! The jean jacket is from Community Aid, a secondhand shop.

This necklace was a recent purchase. $8. I love it!

The bangles and are just some fashion jewelry.
The ring is from my Grandma.

Same  sandals as Thursday... do you need to see my feet again!?

~ Monday ~

I am so tickled with this dress I got from Ross for only $15! Not only is it comfortable, it is made well and it's super stylish! I believe I can wear it in the winter too if I pair it with boots and a sweater!

This picture shows you the cool detailing on the side.

Same necklace as Friday.

A mix of costume jewelry and some family jewelry.

Some plain earrings.

Gotta sport the aviators!
This was taken on the way home. I look a bit more chipper in the morning!

~ Tuesday ~

Just a cheapo cotton v-neck and  a $20 cotton skirt I got at H&M several years ago (the ONLY thing I ever bought at that store).

Here's a close up on the pattern on the skirt.

One of my new necklaces- $8 and just some gold studs.

I splurged on these shoes last fall. I did NOT need them. But I wanted them. $30 at TJ Maxx. I'm glad I bought them!

~ Wednesday ~

You're going to hate me when I tell you how much this dress was. I got it at NY & Co for $15! It's super stretchy and SO comfy!

Halfway through the day, I realized my shoe was broken!

Statement ring.

I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0!
What is your favorite look on me?
Which outfit are you most likely to wear?

  1. You clean up really well! So good to see you in your school clothes! Love the blue dress, especially. I recently got a jean jacket, and wear it all the time. Even though we are in the middle of a heat wave, it is sometimes so cold in restaurants that I often bring a sweater or jacket along to throw over my shoulders just in case.

    1. Thank you! :)

Me too! And jean jackets go with everything so they are easy to bring along. I get cold anywhere indoors (except maybe my classroom once the day gets going.

  3. Super cute clothes! You look way better than the teachers at the school in my neighborhood. I swear some of them just come to work in their pjs. One of the teachers wore a Pink Taco t-shirt when my boys were in school there. Seriously, tho?

I've rarely found anything at Ross. My boys tell me there's an IG page called "Ross finds". You should post that dress there!

    1. Thanks Wendy! Even though I'm not in my pjs, I FEEL like I am in my pjs because stretchy or flowy dresses are just so dang comfortable.

  4. They are all cute but I think I like the last one the most! I have many, many dresses I've only paid a small amount for. Not a big fan of Ross, but love Marshalls & TJMaxx!

  5. You look great in all of these! The one I like best, and would totally wear, is Wednesday's dress. I don't think I could pull off a long dress. I do own a black maxi skirt (they were all the rage!), but I only wore it once. Couldn't figure out what to wear on top! Why no dress pants? I do prefer dress pants because I can sit cross legged in my chair at work :) I end up wearing more skirts though because I think they are more professional looking - with dark nylons. My legs are too scary to not wear nylons!

    1. Wear a tank top with your black maxi skirt. Maybe grey and then a colorful necklace? Or put a cardigan over top or a jean jacket. :) I don't wear a lot of dress pants because they're just not as comfortable as dresses or leggings with tunics. I do have a nice black pair of dress pants though and if I want to wear some of the stylish tops I have, I will have to break them out eventually.

  6. I love the feminist ring. I don't wear dresses (I own a few... mostly for things like cruise formal nights or the once-a-year occasion that we go out to a fancier restaurant)... but I would wear the feminist ring :).

  9. Friday's dress is my favorite for you, and Wednesday's dress is the one I would most likely wear for my office job! I have a variety of black and white dresses because I like colorful cardigans and can just grab whichever one is handy and know it'll look great with it. I'm a black pants and sweater sorta gal but I'm trying to venture into dresses more.

    1. I bet the pop of color looks great with your dresses. It's always nice to have something handy in case you get cold. I tend to be cold in the morning but then get hot as the day goes on. I brought my jean jacket to work every day in case I was cold.

  10. I haven't worn a dress all summer. I love my dresses too, but I haven't felt like wearing them to work. I'm glad I could get a couple out on the cruise.

    1. I'm just the opposite. I'm more likely to put on a flowy dress then like jeans or jean shorts.

  13. Thank You!!! I LOVE these posts and was hoping you would do one! My favorite outfits are day 1 and day 5! Were you able to fix your shoe? I wore a pair of heels the other day and the bow fell off them. Thankfully I had a spare pair of shoes in my bag! (just in case you are wondering, I always carry a spare pair of shoes on days I wear higher heels)!

    1. My mom said she can fix my shoe. Moms are the best! That is smart to carry spare shoes when you wear heels! I have packed heels for my chorus concerts but wore flats the rest of the day.

  14. I love how you mix fashion and comfort! I wonder if your back felt tight because you were standing in sandals/flat shoes so many days? I know when I wear ballet flats when I have to stand a lot it can make my back feel tight! Google it if you have time, a lot comes up!
