NorCal Day 5 (Race Day and Sausalito)

Hey all! Just two more days of vacation to tell you about. Sorry that I am dragging it out so long! But I love to have record of our trips!

If you missed any recaps, here ya go: Day 1, Day 2, Day 3, Day 4!

So today's recap will be relatively short because my morning was spent running my 30k at Stinson Beach, which I already recapped here.

But some of you were wondering what Paul did while I was running for four and a half hours! First, he wandered the start/finish area as well as the beach and took some pictures...

Then he went to a little cafe and had a breakfast fit for a king!

Then he went to the library to do some work on the computer as well as fill out some postcards we sent to some family.

Before he knew it, I was finished with my race!

I actually didn't feel too shabby after my race! We went back to the hotel, showered, chilled for just about an hour or so, then off we went to the little bay side town of Sausalito that Paul loves so much!

It was FREAKING BUSY. I don't know how I drove through that town without hitting a cyclist, pedestrian, or other motorist. We had a really hard time finding a parking spot. We found a place to pay to park that said $6 per hour, but then when we rolled up, they said SUVs were $12. Hell no was I paying that much! So we drove around a long time until finally we found an empty space in a public lot. I am proud to tell you I didn't lose my shit during the 45 minutes it took to find a parking spot!

Our plan was to do some wine tasting (remember, we are wine tasters now) and then get dinner. We went to Real Napa Winery. We got 3 tastings for $10 each. Not bad! And that was enough to get me nice and buzzed!

During the tasting we met a guy and a gal who were coworkers (Air Force!) and were in the area for a training. They were from Oregon and gave us lots of tips for when we visit Oregon someday. It was really fun to talk to them.

For dinner, we each got a pizza! Of course I ate the whole thing!

I'm proud to tell you it took me just under 15 minutes to house that!

Then we just walked around the downtown area and went into a couple shops. I bought a California hoodie that I really like!

Now here are just some pictures of beautiful Sausalito! It's a cool town because most of the houses are on the side of the mountain.

Local friends, where are the best wine tastings?
Tell me about a cute town you love to visit!

  2. I think it's great that Paul went to the library during your race!

That town does look nice. I love a town that really lends itself to a pedestrian life style.

We visited Harvey's Lake this past weekend and the homes there are absolutely gorgeous! It's the first time I've ever been there so I was totally blown away.

    1. It was nice because he was able to get on the computers and write out postcards. I googled Harvey's Lake (never heard of it) and it looks really cute! What brought you there? Was it a day trip?

  3. Is Paul a pineapple pizza guy? man, and I thought I liked him! Joking! The pizza looks delicious... the one without the pineapple !

    What a great trip!!

We like to visit Intercourse PA, because it has all the cute country shops and the Kettle village with all the food samples... there is a wine shop there too, but we haven't tried it, because I'm always there with my kid, and have to drive home.

  4. Do you think you would like to live in California, if you didn't have any ties to your current place? I think I would. It's so pretty there!

    1. I would LOOOOOOVE to. But it's so expensive to live there, I don't know if I could do it! I don't know how teachers are paid there relative to the cost of living.

  6. I love that hoodie! It's funny because I just found a shirt today in Katie's drawer that has that exact California decoration on it and I'm planning on borrowing it when I'm not pregnant anymore! I love all those pics. GORGEOUS.
