Weekly Workouts

Hey all. It wasn't a great week due to feeling under the weather...

I had 3 rest days, one lifting day, and 3 running days.

I can't wait to feel 100%!!!!!

Saturday- Rest! The first 1/3 of the day I sat on my ass doing puzzles. The second 1/3, I cleaned/organized our backroom. The last 1/3 of the day I spent drinking and blogging.

Sunday- 6 miler in 3 degreesI actually bundled up and was warm on this run. I did a VLOG showing everything I wore. It was tough because I felt like my clothes weighed 10lbs. I couldn't breathe running up any sort of incline, and I wondered if it was from the cold air or from being sick.

Monday- Rest. I was feeling VERY crappy physically and mentally. I went to the doctor but there was a 2 hour wait so I went home. Aint nobody got time for that. What I did have time for though was a 1,000 piece puzzle that I worked on for 6 hours straight while I listened to the Jodi Arias trial.

Tuesday- 6 miles on the treadmill. I did some speed work and felt GREAT. Unfortunately, talking all day at work gave me a headache and sore throat. I swear I drank a ton of water...

Speedwork: 1/2 mile at each of these paces: 9:00, 8:30, 8:00, 7:30, 7:00, 8:50, 8:20, 7:50, 7:20, 6:40, 8:00, 8:30.

Wednesday- Lifting. I went to the doctor and found out I had a secondary bacterial infection. Of course I decided to lift but I could barely get through my sets. I was tired.

Thursday- Rest. I felt 10xs worse today than yesterday! Mainly fatigue. I looked, and the flu shot can make you tired for a day or two, so maybe that is why?

Friday- 6 treadmill miles. We had a 2 hour delay. I didn't sleep in but I relaxed with my coffee longer than normal. I wouldn't call this speed work but I did play with the speed on the treadmill.

Did you ever get a flu shot and then get really tired?

  1. I don't seem to get side effects from flu shots although I've heard people say they do! Cute video it is a weird feeling having so many clothes on!

  2. Ya know, I have always been afraid to get a flue shot! I know that sounds childish but I hate getting shots and getting blood taken!

I hope this illness really gets knocked out of you. Ain't no body got time for that! At least you got some good puzzle time in. Hey, did you see you can play puzzle games on your phone now? I saw some come up on my ipad but I didn't download any yet. Maybe I should do that!

    1. I used to donate blood but I don't do it anymore because once I almost passed out and the time after that she couldn't find a vein and it was terrible! I wish I donated blood though, it's such a good thing to do.

I know everyone is different, but I am being honest when I tell you my shot didn't hurt AT. ALL. It didn't even hurt later in the day or the next day! Now I have had shots where my arm hurt after but not this one!

    2. Oh, and people tell me about puzzles on the phone all the time but I'm not sure it's my "thing". Although I never thought I'd use an e-reader and now I do for some books that I can't get at the library...

  3. I hope you feel better soon. It's super cold here and the roads are bad, so I haven't really worked out much at all this week. Glad you got the 6 miler in and seem to be turning the corner on recovering. I hate going to the doc and the germy waiting rooms and the waits too.

I haven't gotten a flu shot in years... I don't get them. Medical "stuff" in general makes me tired though- every medicine makes me drowsy, whether it should or not. Even when I go to my sports med doc, I schedule the appointments for afternoon so I can do a workout that morning and won't have to do anything much for the rest of the day.

    1. I get flu shots because of being around a lot of people every day via my work. I mean, I know it's good to get them no matter what, but I'm not sure I would be as motivated if I wasn't around so many people.

Luckily super tired like that for one day. I'm going to the gym today and hope to have a good treadmill run! I think I will watch a movie on my phone while I run.

  4. I do get flu shots, but just started getting them a few years ago. Our insurance company gave us credit for getting the shot, so we were motivated to get it done. I haven't had any adverse reactions to it, so I will continue to do so. Hope your weekend is going better and you are feeling 100%!

    1. That's nice you get a credit from your insurance! It's nice when they give people incentive to do things. It made me really tired for one day but that was it, so I will keep getting it for sure. I bet being tired for one day is way better than getting the flu!

  5. I hope you are starting to feel better! I normally don't feel anything after my flu shot but this year I got my sinus infection the day after. I know it was a total coincidence and had I known I was about to get sick I would have held off on the shot just because it can be "taxing" on your body. Please take care of yourself!

    1. Yes, it can be taxing as your body does it's work. It sucked for that bad coincidence!
