Weekly Workouts!

I ran... 21 miles
I arc trained... twice
I hiked... 5 miles
I lifted... three times

I'm keeping up with my foam rolling, PT exercises, and stretching. I'm not sure what else to do to help my hip. If you have any ideas, let me know!

I am trying to focus on mainly doing runs that are going to help me train for my 30k. So this week I did a 12 mile trail run over a mountain and back, and then a 9 miler on the road that was sooooo hilly.

TODAY I AM AIMING FOR 14 MILES ON THE TRAIL! Over a mountain and back. Cross your fingers and toes for me...

Saturday- 45 minute arc trainer. I won't lie, this workout was a little boring but not terrible. I wanted to do something low impact so that I would (hopefully) have a good trail run on Sunday.

Sunday- 12 miles on the AT w/ Hathaway and Shelly. We ran from Scott's Farm, over the mountain, past Valley Road and back. I felt great the whole time. My hip started to feel it the last two miles but it wasn't too bad. I was very thankful for that as now I know running the full 30k in California on July 22nd is possible. (There is also a half marathon and 10k option.) Cardio wise, I was fine. Muscle wise, I was fine. The next day I had a pain in my PIMA when sitting and a bit in my groin (which are totally related) but nothing too bad. Other than that I wasn't sore. GOOD NEWS! Next weekend, *ideally* I will do 14 on the trail. If I do that just fine and recover well, I will definitely to the 30k.

Monday- Lifting chest @ Planet Fitness & Hiking 5 miles Millersburg w/ Debby. Paul went to Planet Fitness too, so it was a gym date!

Don't worry, I got my haircut since this picture was taken...

Later on that afternoon, I hiked at the Ned Smith Center in Milersburg with Debby. We got "lost" as in we didn't know how to find the bridge back to the center. If you are familiar with the area, you will understand how ridiculous that is! We used Google Maps to get our bearings and made it back to the car without having to call search and rescue.

Tuesday- Lifting back @ home. This was just a quick and effective workout. I was a little sore from lifting the day before but I powered through and got this done in less than an hour.

Wednesday- 9 really freaking hilly miles. I was sooooo slow but I did it! My hip was tight, but I foam rolled and stretched before and after and it didn't feel too bad the rest of the day.

Thursday- Lifting chest @ Planet Fitness. Quick and dirty!

Friday- 45 minutes arc trainer. I would have run, but I have 14 miles on the docket for Saturday!

Did you ever get lost on a hike or a trail run?

  6. Unrelated to your post, but remember that penis confetti you photographed in a parking lot? My folks rented a Villa at a Kalahari resort so that we could have a huge family water park vacay with my 5 sibs and their progeny. My 8 year old came to me sweaty and hot from chasing around with cousins and stuck on his arm...penis confetti! Happy Birthday!

  7. I took it off and showed my sisters...he asked but I didn't share. He is a good kid but he and his two other 8 year old boy cousins would have been intolerable!!!

  8. It is scary to get lost on the trail! Did you have enough?

We once got lost in Boyd Big Tree Preserve, we were lost for about 2 hours. We made a wrong turn, and somebody... Roger... decided to hike up the hill, which took us to the longest trail that looped the entire park.

    1. We had plenty of water and when I say lost, I meant we couldn't find the trail back to the car. We could have easily made our way back onto the rail trail and walked the 2 miles into town. So we wouldn't have died or anything. But I definitely needed Google Maps!

LOST FOR TO HOURS??? That must have been scary. My dad swears he saw a mtn lion there...
