The other day, I was out sunglasses shopping! I got this pair at the Dollar Tree for... $1!
Then I got this pair at Good Will for $3.99!
Black with silver on the side.
The white pair is just for casual situations and putzing around and stuff. The black ones will probably be fore the same thing. They are really sturdy so maybe I will even wear them for hiking!
The reason I needed new sunglasses was because I left my cool black pair at a restaurant over in Harrisburg. I was SO FREAKING BUMMED. I had these for 2 years and they were awesome. I got them at Target, and while Target has similar sunglasses, they are shaped a little different than these.
It is hard for me to find aviators because they're either too big, too small, or shaped weird.
Here are all the sunglasses I own. Let me know which ones you like the best!
These are black on top and tan on the bottom with gold on the side.
Just black with some silver on the side. These are older and a bit wobbly so I don't really wear them anymore. Waiting to throw them out...
Brown with gold on the side.
Hard to tell, but these are light blue.
I'm trying really hard to find a pair that looks good on me, but it is hard! I'm going to keep looking. Maybe I just need to relax. Sunglasses are supposed to be fun, right!? They don't have to be PERFECT.
Generally, I like to spend $12 or less on sunglasses. You may think that sounds ridiculous, but I have found that I can easily find sunglasses that last a long time without spending a ton of money. In fact, I am interested in seeing how long those white Dollar Tree ones last! My awesome Target ones I lost were $17.99. That is the most money I have ever spent on sunglasses. But they were sturdy and I liked them. Basically, I feel like sunglasses are items that are easily lost or broken, so I don't want to spend a ton of money on them.
I bet you are wondering what glasses I run in. Here they are:
They were $5 at Wal Mart. I try not to spend any money at all on running sunglasses because those are REALLY the ones that get thrown around and could be easily broken...
How many pairs of sunglasses to you have?
Is there a style you are looking to try?
Do you wear good ones for running or throw aways?
What's the most amount of money you have ever spent on sunglasses?
I think I like the ones you showed a picture of the best! I own 2 pair and neither are for sport. When I train it's always dark. If I do think I need a pair for a longer bike ride (if the sun will be up for the last 1/2) then I wear a pair of Rick's sport glasses. The most expensive pair I bought were $110. They were Serengeti's and I loved them and had them for over 11 years (I lost them in Blackhawk and was so bummed out). The other two I have are SunCloud which are only around $60 and fit me really well (I have a hard time finding ones that fit and look good on my face).
ReplyDeleteThe ones I showed a picture of!? Lol. I had to open my blog to make sure the pictures showed up. ;) I wish I could see what your Serengetis looked like. That freaking sucks you lost them. See, that is what I am afraid of. I don't like having nice things because I am afraid I will lose/ruin them.
DeleteI meant the ones that were just a picture...not the ones you were modeling! I will try to find what my old shades looked like and send to you.
DeleteTODAY I GOT A PAIR OF THOSE FOR $11 AT PAYLESS!!!!!!!!!!! :)
DeleteI used to buy cheap sunglasses but then I'd break them because I didn't care that much about them so I'd leave them around, sit on them or lose them. Then in 2011 I bought a pair of Ray Bans for like $150 and I wear them all the time and take such good care of them. I LOVE THEM.
ReplyDeleteNICE! I bet there are pictures of you in your Ray Bans on your blog. I'm gonna see if I can find them...
DeleteI like the the sunglasses you got from Goodwill! Very chic! I also like the ones with the bigger lenses, very Jackie O! I think your short hair cut makes you look good in all those glasses!
ReplyDeleteFor myself, I like the bigger tortoise shell ones. I have a pair from Banana Republic that I've had like forever. I don't pay a lot for sunglasses because I usually lose them too, so I am surprised I have had these for so long. They were getting a little wobbly so my mom bought me a similar pair for Christmas.
Scott bought me some actual running glasses at an expo once but I hardly wear them because they have like a rubber coating on the sides and it pulls my hair and hurts so bad!
You know what is funny? Right after I chopped all my hair off, I started trying on sunglasses and earrings to see what would "go well with my hair". I really like the Good Will ones as well! It is so tricky to buy sunglasses for someone else because you never know if they are going to be too tight/loose etc.
DeleteYou look awesome in the Dollar Tree and Good Will sunglasses! I think both suit your face really well. I don't like to spend a lot on sunglasses either because I lose and break them really easily. I am thinking about investing in a prescription pair since I can't wear contacts and my eyesight is no longer what it used to be haha. My insurance pays for 50% of a nice pair though so I may go a little higher end like I did for my regular glasses.
ReplyDeleteFor sunglasses I like shopping the ASOS website or Amazon. Both offer in style options that are priced in different tiers - cheap (under $15), slightly better quality ($25-35) and a bit nicer ($100+).
I got my cat eye aviator style sunglasses on Amazon for $12! I like to look at the customer photos on Amazon to see if anyone has a similar shaped face to mine, so I can tell what they will look like on me. If there are no customer photos I won't buy them online!
I get complimented at random by people all the time on the cat eye aviator knockoffs. Everyone things they are the real Dior ones! When I tell them I got them for $12 they are shocked. I love a good deal :)
I love a good deal too! So how do you know the sunglasses will fit you if you buy them online? It is so shocking to me when I go to the store and try sunglasses on and some are tight and some are loose. Normally, they are too loose, not too tight.
DeleteI read through the product reviews to see what people are saying -- bonus if there is a pic of someone who looks like they have my sized head and also leave a review about fit.
DeleteOtherwise I just take a chance -- if they don't fit you can always send them back!
Or I deal with it. Like the cat aviators are too big and constantly slip down my nose but I like them anyway!
DeleteYou look good in those! I saw a bunch of them while I was at the mall today.
DeleteI have one pair that I use for everyday and running. I let my last pair get scratched and all that, but this pair came with a hard case. I'm going to take care of these so they last a while.
ReplyDeleteThat is a good idea to keep them in a case. I should get one of those for traveling. I feel like I had at case for my eyeglasses at one point but... I'm sure I lost it.
DeleteI think you run in a visor, right? Does that help keep the sun out of your eyes? Ah, needing to wear rx lenses def throws a wrench into things. Is it expensive to get those?
ReplyDeleteOh wow, you have a lot of sunglasses LOL I only have two pairs (one expensive pair and one I won in a giveaway and they don't really look that great one me!)...
ReplyDeleteI know, I kind of like having a lot to choose from. They were cheap though. :)
DeleteThe white sunglasses look great on you!! I love how they look!
ReplyDeleteI have a ton of sunglasses... but sometimes I forget them all at home. I just bought a pair of sunglasses really cheap at Ollies, I'm going back for a pair of yellow ones.
DUDE I almost bought sunglasses at Ollies when we were there about 2 weeks ago. I liked the yellow ones! I love the red ones you always have on.
