Hey! I'm going to catch you up on a little more than a week of workouts. My vacation workouts are listed here too!
I ran... 33.6 miles
I hiked... 12.5 miles
I walked... 3 miles
I lifted... 1 day
I rested... 2 days
Note: That sounds like a lot, and it is, but it was 10 days, not 7!

Monday- 5 neighborhood miles. I had ZERO sleep the night before, ended up rolling out of bed at 3:44am. I went out and ran in the dark. It was weird, I hadn't done that since school let out for the summer. I'll be honest, I didn't like it. It reminded me of working and, well, I don't want my summer to end!
NOTE: VACATION WORKOUTS BEGIN ON TUESDAY!!!!
Tuesday- Hiking Fern Canyon. After a looooooong ass morning and afternoon of traveling, we finally made it to Prairie Creek State Park in Northern California and we hiked to Fern Canyon, which is very easy and only 1 mile.
Wednesday- Run @ Arcata Community Forest w/ Rachel & 5 miles hike w/ Paul. Rachel and I warmed up and cooled down. That plus a 4 miler on the beautiful trails filled with ferns and redwoods gave us 5 miles. Later that afternoon, Paul and I hiked thE Rockefeller Loop and part of the Bull Flats Trail in Humboldt Redwood State Park. WOW. This is near the Avenue of the Giants and these trees were GIANTS!
Thursday- Rest. Just a couple of miles of light walking!
Friday- Hiking to Tennessee Valley Beach (4 miles) and Carson Falls (4 miles). These hikes were beautiful! More pictures of all this beauty in my vacation wrap up, I promise!
Saturday- Table Rock 30k. Spoiler Alert: I rocked it!!! It was really hard. Hopefully my race report is ready for you tomorrow!
Sunday- 3.5 mile hike on the Steep Ravine Trail with Paul. This was part of the race the day before and I really wanted Paul to see it!
Monday- Rest. This was our first experience taking a red eye home. Two planes, two trains, and one car ride and FINALLY WE WERE HOME!!!!!
Got my mountain lion stick!

Now, I guess you noticed I didn't "workout" on this vacation. All of these outdoor activities were just part of our trip! The old me would have gotten up early and ran or lifted in the hotel gym before starting the day, but I just can't do that anymore! Our vacations are EXHAUSTING because we just go go go...
What a wonderful trip filled with so much outdoor activity! Beautiful.
ReplyDeleteIt was truly like a dream!
DeleteOMG I CAN'T WAIT TO HEAR ABOUT YOUR RACE!!!!!!!
ReplyDeleteTomorrow! I have time to write the recap today. :)
DeleteIt looks like you had a wonderful trip and were super active! I don't blame you not to work out because you got a workout in from all the hiking anyway and you had the race. Besides, vacations mean you should take a little break from real life anyway, the workouts will always be there. Can't wait to read your race report and hope you guys got home safely and you've had a good recovery from the race.
ReplyDeleteThanks girl! It sounds like we have the same working out on vacation philosophy! Now, I think if I was doing a more relaxing vacation, like maybe an all inclusive resort where all you do is lay around on the beach, etc, then I would probably make sure to get some workouts in because 1. I like it, and 2. It's not like I'd need my energy for anything else.
DeleteWhat a beautiful hike!! I can't wait to hear about the race! I knew you would be fantastic.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back!
Thanks! It is so good to be home! :)
DeleteI didn't realize you already had the trip. How fun! I don't workout much during actual vacations because I'm busy enough. Hiking San Francisco hills keeps me huffing and puffing.
ReplyDeleteYes the hills are crazy out there!
DeleteWow, I can't believe you did all the hiking before your race. Can't wait to read about your race! Glad it went well.
ReplyDeleteI know, I was a little worried about how the hiking would affect my race buuuuuut... we were on vacation and it was now or never to see all that beautiful scenery! Luckily, I don't think it hurt me for the race.
DeleteThey are very different than what we are used to here! Some of them are smooth but some are rocky and rooty as well. There are just SO MANY TRAILS that you can take your pick from what kind of terrain. It seems to me they have a lot of everything.
ReplyDeleteI CAN'T WAIT TO READ YOUR RACE REPORT! :D
