Just what I needed.

Tuesday was a looooooong ass day. It wasn't a bad day, it was just long. As soon as I got done teaching piano lessons I checked my phone. I had two missed calls and a text from my credit card company. Someone used my card at an MTA LIRR station. $594.00 was charged.

WTF!? What could you buy for $594.00 at an MTA station? (Paul suggested perhaps a lifetime pass for free rides, but I don't think that exists.)

So even though all I wanted to do was shower, pour a glass of wine, and relax, I had to deal with that bullshit.

They are closing my current card and rushing a new credit card to me and it should be here on Thursday. This is the second time this has happened to me! I know the credit card company is going to put a hold on my card and make me call in and answer a bunch of questions every time I want to make a payment. The last time this happened, I had to do that for over a year! I'm not going to deal with that again. If that's how it's going to be, I'm closing my account and will take my business elsewhere!
Ever have fraud on your credit card?

  1. What is MTA LIRR? I've had my credit card # stolen twice and both times purchases were made in Florida! I wonder if there is a reason for that? The funny thing is,the credit card company called me when those fraudulent purchases were made in Florida yet when I've made my own purchases in Florida, I've never gotten a call. I wonder how they know its me or not me?

    1. Like a subway station I am assuming. And LIRR is the Long Island Railraod Station I assume!? I was just wondering about that, because you do go to Florida, so how did they know? Maybe it's like if they see activity in your hometown and then two hours later in FL and it's like... well how did she get down there so fast? Just an idea!

  2. What a pain in the ass! Yes, have had fraud probably 3-4 times over the years. Makes me mad that there are people that are so malicious out there!

    1. I was wondering if there was something wrong with my credit card company that it happened to me twice but it sounds like it happens to everyone...

  3. Ugh that sucks! I had that happen to me FOUR TIMES in the last year with my debit card. It's SUCH a pain in the ass. I have Bank of America and they are so weird about it. Sometimes they will call or send a text message letting me know I need to confirm purchases but sometimes they don't, so I'm just at the register checking out and my card doesn't go through leaving me looking silly.

This last time it happened to me the cashier must have been having a bad day and said said to me: Your card got declined. That usually means you don't have any money in your account. I was like lol wow okay!

    1. Wow, that is a lot!!! I feel bad even complaining now! Also, what an asshole that cashier was! One time I was trying to buy something with Paul's debit card and I couldn't because I had the wrong pin. I was very embarrassed.

  4. Ugh. I hate when that happens. Glad it was caught right away!

  5. I tried to comment twice yesterday, but I guess that is broken again from my phone :( Anyhoo.... Yes, my card was just compromised a few months ago. Luckily Capital One caught it right away and asked me to confirm the charge - which was a bad one. They are pretty darn good at catching fraud! It's just a pain when you get a new account number and you have to change scheduled payments. Luckily Alan has a different account number on his card, so now if one of them is compromised, we still have the other one to use. Or one of the other 5 other Visas I have ;)

    1. I'm sorry, I hope there is nothing wrong on my end that is preventing you from commenting. :( Hahaha that's a lot of visas!!! Why so many? Just for cushion in case of an emergency?
