5 "Famous People" I have met!

Hey all! I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0!

It's Friday already!? Gotta love a four day work week! I'm thinking about running a trail race tomorrow (for fun) but we'll see if I can get my ass out of bed for it.

Today, my theme for Friday 5 is:

5 FAMOUS PEOPLE I HAVE MET!

I consider myself extremely lucky that I have met a couple famous (to me!) people! I realize a lot of the people listed may not be considered "famous" to you. But we all have people we enjoy and idolize that may not be A List movie stars, but to us, they may as well be!

When I say I have "met" these people, I mean I have actually talked to them. I would like to include Joe Biden in this list, but alas, I didn't talk to him, I simply was up close and personal with him when he kissed my nephew, Clark.

(Biden was campaigning for Hillary in Harrisburg back in November.)

Okay, here's my list of 5!

1. Terry Gross. I have been listening to Fresh Air for years. I love Terry's voice, I love the interesting guests she has on her show, and I love the questions she asks. It was was a dream come true to meet Terry several years ago. Me and my friend Maggie got tickets to see her speak in Philly and I sprung for the VIP meet and greet! I wrote about this experience here. Terry was lovely. She asked me questions and seemed genuinely interested to meet each person who waited in line to see her.

LOOK HOW LONG MY HAIR WAS!!!
And black.

2. Nancy Grace. This past summer, I attended CrimeCon... a TRUE CRIME CONVENTION in Indianapolis. Guys, I KNOW Nancy Grace is ridiculous... but I just love her! As far as the meet and greet experience with her at CrimeCon, I can't say enough good things about Nancy. She was GAME to meet everyone, was joking around, and really turned it on for her fans. I wrote about this experience here.

Look how she signed my book!

Oh, and she offered to record a video to say hello to my Aunt Betty!

3. Joy Behar. I have been watching The View FOREVER!!!! I actually got to sit in the audience twice, and the second time, I was actually ON THE SHOW! I love Joy because she is a bat shit crazy liberal like me. She may be a little more bat shit than I am, but I am sure by the time I'm her age, I will be just like her. I bought tickets for my mom and I to see her stand up show in Harrisburg. When we got there, we realized I had bought the VIP tickets which included the meet and greet after the show! I will be honest... Joy sort of wanted to get out of there. But she stuck around for photos.

She was 71 at the time of this photo.
HOW!!!??
And she didn't look bad up close! She didn't look like she had a ton of botox!

4. Rob Cesternino. I know what you are thinking. WHO THE HELL IS ROB CESTERNINO??? Well, he was on Survivor The Amazon and Survivor All-Stars. Now he hosts a VERY successful podcast that I listen to all the time so I can get the scoop on Survivor and Big Brother. If you are a fan of those shows, you have to listen to Rob. About a year ago, Paul and I went to NYC to see a live taping of Rob Has A Podcast and WE GOT TO MEET ROB!!! It was a dream come true!!!!

And #5 is someone I haven't met yet, but who I will be meeting at the end of November!

Are you ready for this?

You are never going to believe it.

If I could choose one person in the world to meet, who do you think it would be???

Drum roll........

I'M MEETING HILLARY CLINTON!

Hillary is doing a speaking tour to promote her book, What Happened. On Wednesday morning, I was able to buy tickets for her engagement in Philly RIGHT when they went on sale and I scored TWO VIP TICKETS for me and my mom! Our VIP tickets include...

Two 3rd row seats
Two signed copies of her new book

and...

A PRE-SHOW MEET AND GREET WITH PHOTO OP!!!!!!

I am beyond excited. There is no one else in the world I would rather meet. And I am so excited that I get to experience this with my MOMMA!!!! We are going to have an awesome time!

I am trying to figure out what I should say to her and what I should wear. If you have suggestions, let me know!!!!

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Have you met anyone famous?
If you could meet anyone in the world, who would it be?

    1. I love Joe Biden too. His speech was so motivating. He focused a lot on climate change and how America needs to be leading in the area of renewable energy.

  2. So cool that you got to meet them! I am always star struck when I see people that were on tv actually in person. I always wanted to meet the Olsen twins....haha.

    1. It is so surreal to see people in "real life". The Olsen twins? That is too funny!

  3. Meeting Hilary would be interesting! Does meeting Liza Minelli in a theater and asking for her autograph and being told no count, LOL?

In the running world, I've met Dave McGillivray, Deena Kastor, and Dimity of AMR.

I don't think I've met any other famous people, really. I saw Dr. Oz once when my Dad was in the hospital in NYC; didn't talk to him, though.

    1. LOL Liza wouldn't give you an autograph!? Wowwww. Okay quick funny story: I recently watch SATC 2 on a plane ride and I cried during the scene where she performed All The Single Ladies at Stanford's wedding!!

  4. I'm so happy for you that you'll be able to meet Hillary! I would tell her I'm grateful for everything she has done to advance women's rights and for inspiring generations of women to go for a promotion, run for political office, and just generally strive for more.

  5. Really great news to meet Hilary. I am SO excited for you, Megan (and your mama). I would tell her how much I admire her--she is the ultimate public servant and has spent her life serving people. I would ask her how she recharges herself when she gives so much and when she gets beaten down. I am simply in awe of her and her courage and strength.

    1. That would be fascinating to know how she recharges. I bet she will say spending time with her grandchildren. :)

  6. Ok, so wait a second.... You have a membership to the Kimmel Center? We are considering becoming members to get advanced tickets to see Hamilton, and to get tickets to see Hillary!! I have it marked in my calendar when the tickets are going on sale to the public.

It is amazing that you have met this amazing people! Terry Gross looks so badass in that picture!!

Back in 2002, we met George Stephanapoulos, at a ceremony in Washington. He greeted our group and talked to us, and took pictures with us... but none of us had any idea who he was, or why people keep asking him for his autograph. We were all in High School or college.

Also in 2014, I met my favorite band of all time, La Ley. My dream is to meet Enrique Bunbury one day, that would be an absolute dream come true.

    1. I DON'T have a membership. I went to the website for Hillary Clinton Live and signed up to get an email about when tickets would go on sale. It was before the general public's goes on sale. I hope you can get tickets to Hillary AND Hamilton!

I didn't know whoe George Stephanapoulos was in HS or college either. :)

That is so cool you got to meet your favorite band!!! Paul has met a lot of his fav bands but lucky for him they're not like "huge" so they're easy to meet. In fact, he met the band After The Burial before their concert at a convenience store next door to the venue lol. Then he walked to the concert with them hahaha.

  7. I met Cary Elwes in April at a Princess Bride screening in Denver. I said my favorite movie is the Princess Bride (since it is), and he asked if he could hug me. YES!!! My mind went blank after that. HE WAS HUGGING ME!!

  9. Lots of neat people in your face-to-face meet-ups! I got to meet Meb a few years ago at an expo...totally nice guy! And I briefly met Shalane, but we all had just finished running and it was a bit awkward and kind of "rushed," though she was very nice and sincere.
