Friday 5!

Hey all! I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0!

This week, all of my posts were scheduled ahead of time. While it is nice to not have to worry about writing during the week, I end up feeling disconnected from yas all by Friday.

Let's connect! Here's 5 random things about my week!

1. Paul made us a turkey! We love turkey! Why do we only eat it at Thanksgiving? Ridiculous.

2. Thanks to a tip from my friend Andrea, I downloaded the free app Duolingo and have been practicing my Spanish! I have been working about a 1/2 hour each day. I'm enjoying it, so I hope I stick with it all year. Right now, I am doing much better at reading Spanish than coming up with the words myself. Hopefully that will change!

There could me mistakes... I'm practicing!

3. Having a winter break really helped me recharge and be a more patient teacher. But I'll be honest, January-March is my least favorite time of the school year.

4. I drink cosmos now! On NYE, I had a lychee martini. It had triple sec in it, which I realized I like. So I tried to figure out what kind of drink I could make with triple sec and whatever I had laying around my house. The internet told me I could make a cosmo with vodka, cranberry juice, lime juice, and triple sec. I love them! Just call me Carrie Bradshaw. Actually, don't. I hate her.

5. Paul has been f*cking with me when he makes the bed!

Do you like cosmos?
Do you ever make a turkey dinner when it's not Thanksgiving?
What are your least favorite months of the year?

  1. As a teacher these next few months are going to be hard. The students have off a few days in January coming up but teachers don't. We have a long weekend coming up in February too but I think it got cut short to only 3 or 4 days since we have to make up a flood day.

Hey, tell Paul I see he's wearing a Bronco's shirt. Is he cheating on his Bills?

    1. I believe we have presidents day off but I'm sure we'll have a snow day before then and have to make it up!

In regards to the Bronco shirt, he claims it was $6 at the Broncos Stadium Tour and it's a nice "wearin' around the house shirt" lol.

  3. I love Cosmos! And you can call me Carrie Bradshaw because I love her :) Thanksgiving dinner is my favorite meal--my mom used to make it for me for my Birthday, too! January and February are the most challenging months (for me) to be living in Colorado. It's cold and snowy and I just don't like it. In mid-February we get away someplace warm so that is nice, but I would rather just move to AZ for those 2 months and call it good! Love to see Paul reppin' the Broncos even though we had a pretty stinky season.

    1. AUGH CARRIE. She is so self involved. I guess I love to hate her. That is so cute your momma made you Thanksgiving for your bday! Hey I just got a new student today who is from DENVER COLORADO. I showed her my CO mug and now we are best friends. :)

  4. I love turkey and should definitely eat it more often than just on Thanksgiving! This is also my least favorite time of year. January already feels like such a long month and its only the 6th!

  5. I had a lychee drink once at a yelp event... I wasn't a big fan. But I do like adult beverages and cocktails more than say, beer or wine. I had some really good wine on Wednesday night though; if it's sweet I'll drink it :). Looks like you've had a great past few days!

    1. I really don't even know what lychee is except it's a fruit. What kind of wine did you get? I was off sweet wine for several years but I am back on it!

  6. When you start getting more proficient in Spanish, there is a "Slow news" app in Spanish, Italian, French and I believe, German. You can listen to the news delivered more slowly in those languages. They advertise on NPR. My kids use it in school.

My son, had a "fry fest" for his birthday 2 weeks ago. He and Dave fried a turkey and numerous other "foods" (think fair foods) with his friends while tailgating outside and watching football. It was such a big hit they are going to do it monthly (God help us all!). I have to admit, fried turkey is really good.
I am not a cocktail type person. Wine, yes! Good beer, yes!
I like January through February, and would GLADLY skip March and April--that is when I am done with winter weather and ready for Spring/summer.
    TGIF!

    1. THANK you for that tip about the slow news! That will be an absolutely wonderful learning tool. I was also thinking about maybe watching kids show in Spanish on youtube or something like that.

Mmmm fry fest! You know what I want? "Oops, all fried" Just big strips of FRIED. And you could have dipping sauces. :)

Isn't it sad winter weather lasts until March and April? We always have our biggest snowstorms here in March!

  8. Yes, spring semester is the worst. Our spring break is late this year, too, so it's going to be a long, painful slog for the next four months.

I want to learn Spanish! I need to get Elizabeth to tutor me but we always end up doing other stuff when we're together.

I'd like to make some roasted turkey or chicken to have all week this week since I'll be back at work and need some easy, healthy lunches ready to go!

    1. I think ours is late too.... timed up with Easter. Is that what yours does? And really we only have off Thurs-Mon.

You should totally make some MEAT. That's what Paul does for me then I eat it for lunch all week.

  9. I don't mind January since it's my birthday month, but February is so difficult. I can ride the holidays through my birthday, but then I don't have anything to look forward to until spring.

    1. Yes winter just gets so long, especially since it can go until like April. A birthday sounds like a nice way to make Jan more exciting!
