Shopping!

I haven't been clothes shopping lately because I didn't feel like it. And I didn't really need anything, so it was like, why waste the money? I used to shop a lot during the summer. It would be fun to grab a coffee and just putz around places like Ross and Marshall's for a couple hours. I'd have a whole day of fun and maybe only spend like $7 or something. I didn't do that at all this past summer!

But for some reason on Sunday, I felt like shopping! So that's what I did!

Whenever I go shopping, I wear my "Rip It Clean Off Dress". It's easy peasy for trying on clothes. So if Paul sees me in my "Rip It Clean Off Dress", he knows I'm going shopping!

First I headed to TJ Maxx, which is one of my favorite places to wander around. I got this thick grey sweater that is very well made. It was $19.99 which I felt was a really good price for a quality piece.

It's long enough to cover my bum, so I can wear it with leggings, jeans, and over dresses for work. I'm so happy with this purchase! The sweater is almost as soft as Jelly!

I also got the cute jeggings you see in all of these photos! I found the jeggings by accident. What happened was I had a bunch of sweaters in my arms and wanted to grab some bottoms to try them on with. I just grabbed the closest thing in my size that looked like they would go with the sweaters. But when I tried on the jeggings, they were very comfortable and they looked really good on! For $12.99, I think these were the best deal of the day!

Here I dressed up the jeggings with a sparkly shirt and shit stompers!

Then I went to the Capital City Mall because JC Penny sent me a $10 off coupon. They do this a lot and I don't always use it. I ended up getting two short sleeved knit tops. One is more black and one is more green, but it's hard to tell from the lighting. They were $17.99 each but justified it because I had the $10 coupon.

Not the most flattering angle of me haha!

I don't know why I went to Old Navy next, but I did. None of those clothes ever look right on. They look fine on the hanger but when I put them on, you can tell they are so cheaply made. Same for H&M and Forever 21. I tried on several things in there and I realized as much as I try to like the clothes in those stores, I don't. I like Forever 21 more for their jewelry.

Look guys, bodysuits are back in style...

Next was Charlotte Rousse. I haven't bought anything other than jewelry there for a really long time. I ended up getting a flannel shirt for $15. I have been wanting to try the flannel look for several years and now I am finally doing it... which probably means it will go out of style really soon!

This was Paul's favorite look! He said he liked it because it isn't really my style but it was cool to try something different.

Here are some closeups of the pieces so you can see the colors better...

For 74 bucks I got jeggings, a nice thick sweater, a flannel button down, and two short sleeved knits. Not bad if I do say so myself!
Do you like clothes shopping?
What is your fall style?

What are your favorite stores to shop?

  1. I love what you got! And you hardly spent anything. I don't like to shop in stores so I shop online. I always make sure to get free shipping/free returns just in case. My fall style is basically the look you have w/ the sweater & jeggings. So happy I work in such a casual place (and at home) so jeans can be my go to every day.

    1. I love that jeans can be dressed up or down. It is sort of funny to me that technically we are not allowed to wear jeans to work but jeans can look very professional if paired with the right things. Plus in an elem. school, I think we should be allowed to wear jeans and sneakers! We are up and down and all over the place all day.

    2. Right?!? Why shouldn't you be able to wear the most comfortable things that you can?!? You are dealing with kids for crying out loud and they don't care what you are wearing!! So stupid.

    3. It's actually funny when we do have a dress down day and I wear my shiny running shoes the kindergarteners are soiooooo impressed and they rub their hands on them!

  2. Sounds like you found some great stuff! I want fall clothes but I don't feel like shopping. And I really need a new pair of jeans which I feel like are SO hard to find!

    1. Jeans ARE hard! I always find them at the weirdest places too.

  3. My Fall look due to coaching 2 xc teams, and running on my own, is running clothes. Most of the times I change into jeans for piano lessons, but not always...

    1. I am sure your students don't care! I am in "nice pajamas" for piano lessons most of the time, which means sweats!

  4. I love what you got! I haven't been clothes shopping in awhile because working from home, I don't need a ton of nice looking stuff. But I do shop occasionally because wearing the same jeans and shirts every time I leave the house for something nice does get old. Otherwise... khaki shorts and t-shirt every day.

    1. I have more fun buying casual/trendy going out stuff than work clothes. Actually, I don't like spending money on work clothes!

  5. I love all the looks, but the flannel shirt and jeans is my favorite (too)! It's so autumnal! I think the worst thing about living in (south) Florida is that we don't get a fall. I am absolutely sure it's the best season even though I've never experienced it!

The jeggings and the sparkly black top looks great together as well. Such a great, casual going-out top!

I haven't gone clothes shopping in a while either. I tend to go in spurts. Sometimes I'll be crazy about clothes shopping and buy a lot in a short amount of time, and sometimes (like now) I'm not interested at all. Other than a new sports bra I haven't purchased any new running clothes recently either!

    1. That is sad you don't get to experience a real fall because people go APE SHIT for fall. It hasn't started to feel like fall here yet. It is still very humid and hot.

  6. I don't mind shopping when I have the time and I'm actually looking for something. I really like that grey sweater! I agree with you about old Navy. I haven't bought anything there in a real long time because the stuff is so cheaply made. Did you hit up NY and CO? I'm thinking about heading there soon!

    1. I did go in NY and CO but I was looking for more casual things than businessy grown up things. :)

  7. I don't shop that much either, but when I do, I can find some things that last a long time. If you don't want flannel to go out of style, come to Texas! You'll always see it ;)

    1. HAHAHA! I have never been to Texas but now I know what to pack in case I do!

  8. I think we share a brain. I don't like shopping though, so when I have to go I just get it over with as fast as possible. I love your stuff! I would have picked out everything the same! Except I can't wear heels.

    1. Thanks! I don't wear heels a lot but I have SO MANY CUTE HEELS!!!

  9. I love it all!! makes me want to go shopping! I love the sweater and the plaid shirt!

And to answer your question from yesterday, first 1. I have a weird thing about tucking my shirt, and 2. I barely go anywhere dressed up after 8:00 pm. So I have worn my body suit to a concert in DC a looong time ago, but I don't button the vagina part, I don't want my vagina to experience any extra discomfort.

    1. Thank you! :)

Thank you for the clarification on the bodysuit thing. :) It is a shame our vaginas go through so much discomfort and then fashion is like, oh let's put snaps there...

  10. I can totally relate to your comment about something likely going out of style because you bought it!! I am a "late adopter" to any fashion trend. It takes me a while of looking at it on other people before I really like it, and then, the trend is usually almost over. :)

    1. We are so alike! One thing I was very late in the game to was leggings. But it seems like leggings have stayed in style all this time. Good thing too because they are SO COMFY.

  12. This made me want to go bargain shopping SO BADLY. I love me some TJ MAXX and Marshall's. I haven't gone "just for fun" shopping in awhile because right now my funds are tight and I wear a uniform to work, so I don't need clothes.

When I am serious about a day of shopping, I wear an easy-to-remove dress and a bra that goes with everything lol. Did you shop alone or with a pal?

I love that your new phone allowed you to make this post and share all these awesome pictures. We have such similar style but I can't actually WEAR any of those clothes here because I'd die of heat. But I like everything you picked out.

    1. I think as we get older, it's harder to justify buying new clothes! Especially you, because of your uniform. But obviously we don't really grow out of stuff, and if we buy quality pieces, they don't need replaced. So I definitely get that shopping for "fun" requires basically throwaway money. Admittedly, I didn't NEED anything of this stuff. But at least I got deals so the next time I need something I don't need it... if that makes sense??? I feel like that's what I do most of the time... buy stuff when I don't need it, and then when I do need it, I don't need it. Omg maybe I drank too much sangria, but did that make sense???

That's a good idea, you do exactly what I do- wear shit that's easy to take off and looks good under basically everything. I try to wear tight, smooth undies too. lol.

Kristina said the same thing! No fall for Floridians!

  13. Thanks for the sweet words on my blog post. I love that grey sweater! It looks similar to a tan one I have and I wear it ALL the time so I am sure you will get great use of it. Slightly disappointed you didn't buy the leotard!
