Every year, my friend Jennifer hosts a Spring Formal Prom Run. This year was the first year she moved it to a Saturday night. The run would include pictures on the Capitol steps, a bar crawl, and dinner.
We started on City Island, dressed in our formal gear. I felt a little silly at first, but once we started running, my endorphins kicked in and I was fine. We made the mile trek to the State Capitol Building and got our pictures taken on the steps. We even encountered some real prom goers who wanted their pictures taken with us! I am sure we went viral!
Next, it was a run to The Firehouse, where I shared a merlot with Mary. Then we ran to Ceolta's Irish Pub where I had a scotch on the rocks. The last stop on our bar crawl was Federal Tap House. This place was very crowded. We got a lot of stares here. The whiskey I drank made things better.
By this time, I was tipsy. I never ran after drinking alcohol before, but let me tell you, I had so much energy and I felt alive. We sprinted across the river and to Duke's where we fed our tummies with delicious food.
I can't tell you how much fun I had. I almost didn't go. I've been pretty down in the dumps and wasn't sure if I wanted to go out and be social. Boy am I so glad I did. From 5pm-11pm, I talked, laughed, and bonded with old friends and new. I am so, so, so, so glad I decided to do the prom run this year!!

Either that or I had too much whiskey.

Jeff looks on in horror.
Jenn (JK-L) and John- the hosts with the mosts!
It was a crazy, fun night and I really needed that. I am glad I have friends who like to do silly things like I do. It's no fun being "normal" all of the time.
Have you ever run in formal wear?
What about a running bar crawl?
Aww, this looks like so much fun. I'm so glad you decided to go and participate. This kind of reminds me of the "Trash the Dress" that brides do with their bridesmaids some time after the wedding. Not quite the same concept, I know, but its a silly little thing in formal wear.
