Weekend Wrap Up!

Guys, I am EXHAUSTED.

I decorated my butt off... inside AND outside. It was a very busy three day weekend.

Here's what we were up to...

~ THURSDAY ~

When I woke up, I wasn't super excited it was Thri-day because I had a very busy day ahead of me. My work schedule was packed and after school I had piano lessons scheduled until six.

I went for a very slow, chilly, run and got over 10,000 steps in before I had my breakfast! Then off to work I went.

Damn, I look tired and this picture was only taken at 8:10am!!!

Around lunch time I realized I was so lethargic. I was cold and my throat felt a little warm. I figured I was probably getting sick. Freaking A. I do NOT want to be sick over my three day weekend. I want to run all the miles and be super productive!

I made it through the work day, and while I didn't start feeling any better, I didn't feel worse. That was a good sign.

A fourth grader gave me a rose petal! Very random, but sweet!

After work I took a quick shower, then taught three piano lessons in a row. Then it was time for wine, dinner, and SURVIVOR!

While I have been enjoying this season of Survivor, I get pissed off every episode because the woman I want to get voted out NEVER GETS VOTED OUT. But she got a bunch of votes this last episode so now she is at least on the radar of the other players and may continue to be targeted. One can only hope.
I went to bed early but didn't actually go to sleep. I watched Netflix on my phone. I'm in the process of binge watching the show 13 Reasons Why. This isn't a new show, so I'm a little late to the game. I know everyone has an opinion and I'm actually a little hesitant to state mine! I don't want to offend anyone or say the wrong thing because suicide is a very serious issue. I would like to write a post about the series but I'm afraid I won't say things the correct way or will miss an important point and come off as being completely ignorant!

When I woke up, I was pleased to see my baby boy was cuddling with me!

It was COLD and WINDY this morning. I thought about running for about 2 seconds, then figured, nah. Today could be a good gym day or a good DECORATE FOR CHRISTMAS DAY!!!!!!!!! (I'd get in a lot of steps doing that, right!?)

And that's what I did... almost all of the indoor decorating! It's quite a process. I have to put a lot of my "normal" decorations away to make room for the Christmas ones.

And then my house looks quite bare...

I'll do a post dedicated to my Christmas decorations, but for now, here is a sneak peak!

This all took a long time, but I was able to take a break to go for a run. It turned out not to be as cold as I thought it would be!

I was very tired from decorating, so Paul and I just relaxed that night. We played cards, ordered in breaded mushrooms and a buffalo sub, and watched a couple episodes of Colbert.

I went to bed early FULLY intending to watch as many episodes of 13 Reasons Why as possible. I ended up staying up until 3:30am and finishing the whole series! I WAS CAPTIVATED! Guys, it's very rare that I sit through a two hour movie in one sitting let alone six hours of a TV series. I have so much to say about this show. I think I will end up writing about it...

I was soooooo tired on Saturday morning but it was my own fault for staying up so late! I met my dad at nine to run 8 miles at Detweiler Park. I really enjoyed running there as it was beautiful and the trail wasn't too technical. There were some uphills I just had to walk but my dad powered up. My legs felt like they weighed 50lb! The last two miles felt great though. Too bad it took me so long to warm up!

Speaking of being warm... it was FREEZING this morning and I had to wear shorts because Paul forgot to wash my warm pants!

When I got home I laid in bed for a little as I was just exhausted. But I was so hungry that I had to get up and eat something. Eating gave me a second wind, so I ended up taking Paul to the gym and running a bunch of errands.

I needed to rally! Diet Dew helped.

Back home, I finished decorating the inside of my house. All the greenery is now up. Christmas ate some and then puked it up. He cannot tell the difference between real pine needles and fake.

That evening, Josh and Suzy came over for game night. We stayed up so late playing games, laughing, and talking. Suzy is my SIL's sister and Josh is Suzy's husband. They recently moved to PA so now we have new friends!

I always make too much food for game night...

We tried a new game called Sketch It, which was hilarious. I went on Amazon to see if I could buy it, but apparently they don't make it anymore and the cheapest I could find it was $34!!!
I literally spend ALL DAY hanging up our outdoor lights! Paul helped me with the icicle ones that hang on the house and he also helped with an extension cord situation I ran into. But other than that, it was all me, and I worked from 10-5:15. By the time I was done, I was EXHAUSTED but happy. Happy that our house is in the Christmas spirit and happy to cross all the decorating off my to do list! Now I just have to buy Christmas presents and I am set!

What's the last show you binge watched?
Did you decorate inside OR outside yet? BOTH!?
What's your favorite game night game?
Tell me something fun you did this weekend!

  1. I have not seen 13 Reasons why but I do hear it's popular and people like it. I haven't binge watched a series in SO long. Unless you just count a few episodes of something we may have DVR-ed (there are some shows we are like 3 weeks behind).

So glad you got your Christmas stuff out! I can't wait to do the same! I know it's not even Thanksgiving but I feel SO far behind in Christmas shopping this year because I don't even have any ideas what to buy people this year!

    1. When I don't have ideas, I feel behind. As long as I have ideas, I feel like I am on top of things! When do you think you will get your decorations out?

    2. I can not speak for the outside ones because that's Scott's territory, but I wanted to put the inside ones up early this year (early to me is before Thanksgiving) but i'm having my kitchen torn apart today and it won't be put back till next Monday so hopefully Monday night!

  2. I love your decorations! We don't decorate the outside of our home really but I'm excited to see how the others in our neighborhood do. I wish we could put ours up early but Clay insists on waiting until after Thanksgiving (we do keep our tree up until after New Year's Day though). I'm ready for the holidays and think that's why I want to go ahead and start.

Diet Mt. Dew is the best. I used to drink it so much, now I find it sickeningly sweet but if I have to have a soda, that's usually what I go for. Clay stopped drinking sodas but if it's a rough week he'll have one too.

I haven't seen 13 Reasons Why but will put that on my binge watch list. I have heard about it and know it is a bit controversial, though.

    1. It definitely is controversial. Let me know if you decide to watch it and what you think.

I try to drink seltzer instead of diet BUT once in awhile a Diet Dew tastes soooo good.

  3. We played Really Bad Art last night. Have you played that before? We love it, it’s hilarious! What other games are your favorites? I’m always on the lookout for good games, especially for gift ideas!

  4. did you get your Christmas tree up? or is that the last thing you decorate? I love that you already have all your Christmas stuff up!!

I am waiting for the 13 Reasons Why book, before I watch the series. It sounds really intriguing!

I haven't binge watch a show in a while... I think the last one we binge watch was Six Feet Under, We watched 1 season in a day, in the middle of the summer!

    1. We don't put up a tree. :( We used to put up 3 but the cats started effing with them. It's the saddest thing in the world that we don't have one!

I would like to read the 13 Reasons Why book, I believe.

We tried 6 feet under but I couldn't get into it. I wanted to like it because Michael C Hall is in it and we love him from Dexter.

    2. I watched Dexter because I really liked Michael C Hall in Six Feet Under. He gave each character their own life, he is a great actor.

  7. I don't decorate and ahem! You're one of THOSE people. Girl, it ain't even Thanksgiving yet!

My weekend was extremely busy too. And sleep was hard to come by.

I really don't binge watch anything, unless I'm sick. We watch a show or two each night, and that's it.

    1. I know, I was hesitant to decorate outside because it subjects others to my Christmas spirit, but if I decorate inside the only people it affects are me and my husband.

  8. Your house looks great! That sounds like alot of work. I watched 13 reasons why pretty quickly too. I hope you write a post about it. I also feel like I need to be careful not to say the wrong thing. We get alot of questions about it when I do a mental health training and its tricky to respond.

    1. Thanks!

Paul actually agreed to watch 13 Reasons with me so I am going to write a post but wait to publish until after I watch it a second time. I've already written down a lot of thoughts though!

  9. I loooooove your outdoor decorations, they are literally the best!

What do you mean by your legs felt like they weighed 50lbs? I've always wondered what people mean by this because when I used to say my legs felt heavy it was because my calves were so tight blood flow was getting cut off and I couldn't move my legs/ankles/feet in a normal motion and they felt kind of heavy-ish. I now realize it was obviously so stupid to keep running through that, so I am guessing when other people say their legs feel heavy they mean something different!

    1. When I say they feel like they way 50lbs, I mean they feel have, sluggish, slow, like that. Not tight or sore or anything.

  10. Oh goodness, I can't believe you have all your Christmas stuff out already! I love it (but I won't do it until Thanksgiving weekend!). You definitely went all out.
And i love that you had game night with friends. I miss that.

  11. I haven't decorated yet, but I might do some this weekend. I normally decorate the day after Thanksgiving, but I'll be at my parents' house next week. I can either decorate after Thanksgiving or before, and I'm thinking before.
