Weekly Workout Recap!

Operation RUN MORE is in full affect! I even ran and lifted on the same day.
Who am I!?

28 miles total. This is HUGE guys! You may have noticed I have not been following the training plan I posted a couple weeks ago. I changed my mind. Right now I want to build my mileage and I think the only way to do that is to get used to running more often than I have been.

5 mile neighborhood run.

I got this done relatively early because we left for vacation later that morning.
My knee felt great during the run, but it basically ached the whole drive to Cape May.
My knee always aches when I drive. I have no clue why.

5 mile run along the bay at Cape May.

Even though I got going at 8:00am, it was already very hot and humid out! I felt good when I was done and my knee felt fine.

REST!
Instead of working out, I had a huge breakfast at a diner and then drove us home from Cape May. Hey, sometimes you need to eat big on a rest day!

3 mile run and Chest at home.

I normally do not run and lift on the same day. You can read more about
this workout and my thoughts about lifting/running on the same day here.

Fishing/running date at Pinchot Park. Paul caught his first fish! I missed it because I was running, but he was very excited to tell me about it!

It was pretty hot out, but not too horrible. I had a great 5 miler! Here were my splits:

Mile 1- 8:27
Mile 2- 8:06
Mile 3- 8:02
Mile 4- 7:58
Mile 5- 7:35

Another fishing running date. I completed 6 miles with a little over a mile of that being an all out sprint... More about the scary run here!

At least I got to cool off/chill out in the Yellow Breeches after!

I really needed to do a "longish" run but I also really needed to lift back. I decided to do 3 easy miles and then lift back at home. TOMORROW will be my "longish" run. I would love to tackle 8 miles!

Mile 1- 8:40
Mile 2- 8:28
Mile 3- 8:09

I don't try to go faster, it's just when I know I am almost done I speed up!

  1. Best workout of the week: Definitely my 800s. I had high doubts I'd get all six done but I did and I felt great after!

Attempt at inspiration: ;) When I'm sluggish at the gym I think about how avidly you lift and how strong you are. It helps me power through! It looks like my long run will be in torrential downpours tomorrow...I'm planning on wearing a clear recycling/garbage bag. True story.

    1. See I am so glad I put it out there that I wanted to do 8 miles, now I have no excuse. I will be thinking, "Heather is doing this in a garbage bag tomorrow so I can do it in the sunshine today!

  2. I have no doubt you will be getting in a long, wonderful run today! I would say my best workout last week was my swim since I never had to share a lane w/ anyone. Started off today with 5 miles which always feels great!

  3. I hope you got your 8 miles in...I am hoping to get in 14 this late afternoon evening. We just got back from camping, which means very little sleep.
I was catching up on your blog. I am glad Paul is OK. That has got to be stressful. You two are lucky to have each other!

    1. It went great, I made it to ten miles! This is without my mp3 player (it died before my run) so I can't believe I did it!

  5. Good job Karen! As you will notice I have not been lifting lower body cause it aggravates the knee! It seems the days I run and keep active it hurts less.
