1. Your big Friday night plans as a couple include trips to two different grocery stores.
2. It also includes bringing a cooler in the backseat so your freezer items do not go bad while you stop for dinner.
3. You get seriously excited when you find a "really good box" at Aldi. (The discount grocery store where you either need to bring your own bags which I fail to remember every damn time or use their empty boxes to box your groceries.)
4. You don't leave home without your ice pack. Darrrrrn my old 31-year-old knee!
5. You're home before 8pm because "it's getting late".
Now, in my defense, I did try to get wild and crazy at dinner by ordering a Dirty Martini with a double shot (I like a strong drink!) but the waitress said their martini glasses weren't big enough. We were at TJ Rockwell's... a pretty well-known drinking establishment that should have glasses big enough for one little extra ounce of alcohol. But no. Whatever. I drank wine instead. Like the old lady I am.
Of course I am being tongue and cheek. I know I am not old. But it is funny how our lives change as we get older. I never was too wild and crazy, but 10 years ago, a fun Friday night certainly did not include a trip to Aldi!
How have your Friday nights changed as you have gotten older?
Are you still young and crazy!? In which case, tell us your crazy Friday night plans!
I am glad someone else's Friday night plans include going to the grocery store. It's always far less crowded and you can get in and get out quickly. We don't have an aldi around us here but did when I lived in Upstate NY. Fabulous.
ReplyDeleteSurprisingly, the stores were pretty crowded! I don't get it, you would think people would have something better to do. :)
DeleteI got really crazy last night and was up until 11pm. I'm a wild one!
ReplyDeleteOooooh you're gonna pay for that today.... ;)
DeleteI knew right away from #1 of your list that I am OLD! lol.
ReplyDeleteWoohoo! Old fogies unite!
DeleteI feel you. I'm not even knocking on 30 yet and 8pm is "late" and my Friday nights consist of going to bed at 9 because the week has caught up with me. It's so crazy how our habits change once we get real jobs lol.
ReplyDeleteThat's what it is- the REAL job thing! I'm much more wild and crazy in the summer!
Deleteha ha! Try being 43! :) I'd day you know you're old when the thought of spending a night with nexflix in my yoga pants is far more appealing than going out drinking. I used to go see so many live bands in my 20's...how I had the energy I'l never know. Now I'm much more of a "day girl." :) I'm still young at heart though. Mentally I'm a 12-year-old boy.
ReplyDeleteI bet you didn't run half marathons when you were 20... THAT'S why you had the energy!!! :)
DeleteI am trying to hang on to my youth by making Friday night "date night" so I always have something exciting to look forward to.... although date night has certainly changed over the years. 10 years ago we were staying up until 3am partying the night away in college and now we're usually home by 9pm... we might stay out a little later if we walk down to our favorite frozen yogurt shop haha.
ReplyDeleteI like the way things have evolved. Being young and crazy was fun, but I'm glad I'm not at that point in my life anymore.
I agree! I am glad I had the crazy times. At least I'll never feel like I missed out on something. :)
DeleteUmm...YUP. Pretty much all of these applied to me. Although THIS weekend we waited until Sunday to go grocery shopping. And it worked out pretty well, because everyone was watching the football game, so we had the grocery store all to ourselves!
ReplyDeleteOmg, score!!!
