I
know this title sounds a little strange. How can one forget they love something?
Easy! Life is busy, crazy, and I don’t always make time for all the little
things I truly enjoy.
Reading:
I definitely read more in the summer since I have a lot more time to go to the
library and just while away a couple hours with a good book. Ever since I
stopped taking melatonin, I have been reading before bed as a way to fall
asleep. It is now part of my nightly routine and I am so glad I made time for it! I just requested a bunch of Mary
Higgins Clark books from the library, but I am MOST excited for a book a bought
off Amazon yesterday (DAMN TO HELL THAT 1 CLICK ORDERING PROCESS!!!)- The Murder of Marilyn Monroe: Case Closed. After listening to a podcast about her
death, I am interested in reading about the theory she was murdered.
Teaching piano lessons: Tuesdays = doom. I work all day, then I go home and teach six
piano lessons. I am not done until 7:30pm. I dread Tuesdays. But then once I’m in it, I realize I am actually enjoying myself. I have very nice students who
are smart, funny, and occasionally hilarious. My goal is to begin looking at
Tuesdays like this: I GET to teach piano lessons, not I HAVE to teach piano
lessons.
Donuts:
It is very sad that I often forget about donuts and how yummy they are. But on
the other hand, maybe that is good… In any case, I recently remembered how much
I love donuts and got a couple at the store yesterday.
Broadway
music: When I was in high school, I would lock myself in my bedroom and listen to Broadway soundtracks straight through. Chicago, Sunset Boulevard, Joseph, Phantom... I was obsessed! I'm not quite as obsessed anymore, but I still LOVE musicals. I need to make more of an effort to listen to them. It's not like I don't have to opportunity... I sure have a lot of CDs in my basement!
What do you forget that you love?
I adore reading. When I was younger I'd devour the library, especially in summer. Now I skim newspapers, magazines and non-fiction mostly. I feel like there's no time to dig in to a good book. Sigh. I love that you enjoy teaching piano so much! I feel that way about ice skating.
ReplyDeleteI did not know you were a skater and taught ice skating! That is really cool. :)
DeleteI am the same way about the piano lessons...once I get started, I am having a great time. I also love coaching xc and track.
ReplyDeleteI recently started re-reading a bunch of books, mostly because my youngest is reading them, and this way we can discuss them more fluidly, but I really do enjoy re-reading old favorites.
Last night we started watching "the Biggest Loser", I forgot how much I like that show. The contestants are so inspiring. Except Richard Hatch--I didn't like him on Survivor, and I still don't.
Hatch is on The Biggest Loser this season!!?? OKay I think that makes me want to watch it! We used to watch TBL all the time. Maybe I can convince Paul to get back into it. The thing is the only time I really like it is when Bob and Jillian are on. I will have to see if they are on this season.
DeleteYou know me, I looooove rereading books! That is very cool you can discuss them with your children.
Oh that book sounds interesting. Yea, I too forgot that I like musicals. My favorite soundtrack that I would play over and over was "Jesus Christ Super Star"! "Rent" was a close second!
ReplyDeleteJCS and Rent- YESSSSS! I would listen to those all the time as well. I was in Rent a couple years ago so I am kind of "Rented" out by now. Haha, get it, rented out?
DeleteYup! Very cute...lol
DeleteI forget how much I love a good rainstorm. In Colorado we hardly get rain so when we do, I just love it (and love to go running in it). I also forget how much I love sour cream. I can't eat it due to lactose issues but the other night I had a taste of it and thought "I could eat this whole container right now". P.S. I love musicals but I never forget that and go every chance I get!
ReplyDeleteI am glad you don't forget you love musicals! :)
DeleteSour cream is very good. I forget that I love that too!
Rainstorms can be so beautiful!
I like this post! It's good to remember these things, no doubt. Broadway musicals eh? I always think of Bette Midler. You know what I'd love to do that I've never done? Go to an opera. I LOVE OPERA. Once my running dies down, I will take up opera singing lessons. I've got it, I know I do. I want to be that little opera singer with tiny boobies that can make the house seats shake.
ReplyDeleteLOL! Why the tiny little boobies?? Haha. I am not that into opera but I sure had to study it a lot during school. You should totally go see an opera!
DeleteUgh. How I wish marshmallow was healthy!!
ReplyDeleteOooh we are the same person!!! I forget how much I love things too sometimes!!
ReplyDeleteLike, I forget that I love reading, even though I read daily. Sometimes it takes a great, new-to-me book and four hours of uninterrupted time to make me remember how much I love the experience of reading. Or I forget how much I love it when I bother to straighten my hair. I'll wear it wavy for weeks and then straighten it randomly and then I'm like "OMG I'M A NEW PERSON!"
lol I like your hair straightening story. It is crazy that we would forget that we love to read. I hope now that I have made it a habit to read before bed, that I never forget anymore.I just reserved a bunch of books at the library so I should be SET.
DeleteME TOO on the hair straightening! I'll go months without doing it and then that one time I randomly do it I realize how much more civilized I look!
DeleteI forget about songs that I love ... and then once I hear them again I go crazy and listen on repeat until I can't take it anymore! Right now that song for me is Boys by Britney Spears ;D Yes, I am an almost 30 year old woman in a very fulfilling long-term relationship blasting Boys while driving through town with my sunroof open!
I never heard that song! Lady Gaga has one called Boys Boys Boys I love. You should go to Vegas and see Britney' show. :)
DeleteI often forget how much I love meals that take a lot of prep! Partially because I rarely make them, like chicken dinner or turkey dinner. There will also be random songs that come on the radio that I remember I love. Like the 90s on 9 is my favourite!!!!!
ReplyDeleteOh man, that sounds like a radio station I would love! The radio is just horrible these days. I turned it on for 3 seconds as a joke today and a dumb Pink song was on and now I can't get it out of my head. I know people like Pink, but I do not like her music.
