Weekend Wrap Up!

Happy Monday!
I hope you had a great weekend.
Here's what we were up to...

Yippy skippy, it's Friday! It's so easy to be in a good mood on a Friday. I lifted chest at home and then I went outside to practice jump roping for the Jump Rope For Heart assembly at my school. I volunteered to be in the jump rope contest... I was hoping not to make a fool out of myself!

When I got to school I saw that my Recorder Karate progress charts fell down! Turns out I was using the cheapo duct tape. I got the "good stuff" from my colleague and fixed it right up.

Ms. Michael, ready to take on the day!

My friend Cindy brought over a Green Eggs and Ham rap for Read Across America Week. I think we're going to be rapping some Dr. Seuss this February!

The rest of the day was pretty easy. My classes went well and so did the  jump rope assembly. It was a tie between me and the art teacher. We both went the full minute without messing up. She was doing all kinds of awesome tricks she learned at her boxing gym she works out at.

Here's what I wore for the contest...

When I got home from work, I helped Paul cook. My parents were coming over for dinner. It was their Christmas present! We made tilapia, asparagus, angel hair pasta, bread, and coconut custard pie. It was delish! We had so much fun chatting and laughing. My parents are the best.

Before going to bed, Paul and I watched Jake Tapper. Raise your hand if you are as concerned for America as Jake Tapper is...

My morning was spent drinking tons of coffee and "finishing" a puzzle. I put "finishing" in quotation marks because I quit when all I had left was the trees. I just didn't feel like putting together the trees so I called it a day! #quitter

Then I met my dad at the Appalachian Trail on 850 in Marysville. We ran 12 miles total- South to Scott's Farm and back. It was a great run!

Later on that afternoon, I had Godspell rehearsal from 4-8pm. We rehearsed in the basement of the theater which is so cold. If we're not dancing, I'm freezing. There's nothing I hate more than being cold. I eventually put on my winter jacket and then I felt better. I just need to bundle up more.

When I got home, Paul had a glass of wine ready for me! What a guy!
I slept SO HARD on Saturday night- 10pm-10am! I did wake up for one hour in the middle of the night. Jelly woke me up to get fed and I noticed my phone (Galaxy S6) was SO HOT. The screen said "temperature too hot, closing apps to cool down". I was scared it was going to catch on fire like the S7s did!

After turning off my phone, I got out my laptop to see what was going on. Apparently this is a problem that can happen with my type of phone when it is plugged into a fast charger- which it was. I hope it doesn't happen again. Luckily, I have a warranty so if there is something wrong with my phone, it will get fixed or I will get a new one.

When I got up for real, I had an alert on my phone that rehearsal was cancelled. I looked outside- it was snowing hard! I won't lie, I had a lot to get done around the house, so I was excited for a day to be productive.

But first... coffee, the news, puzzles, and cats! I puzzled hard for about 4 hours straight before finally crossing some items off my to do list...

Many hours later...

One of the things I had to do was practice my music, choreography, and blocking for the show. And I needed to MEMORIZE it because we're supposed to be off book in a week. Guys, my memory has gone to SHIT. I can't remember anything these days so I have to make a concerted effort to get all this stuff memorized. So I got situated in my music room and went through the entire show, taking notes on the order of things and marking stuff I have to review again to make sure I remember it.

Paul had a couple friends over for the Super Bowl. I don't watch football so I just fiddled on my computer while they watched the game. But I did watch Pink perform the Super Bowl on Youtube later. Here are my thoughts...

1. What did she take out of her mouth at the beginning? If it was gum... that's super tacky. If it was her cough drop, okay, I get it, she had the flu.

2. She should have sung acapella... the music was cheesy.

3. The singing was heavy and yell-y and the high notes at the end were terrible.

4. But she had the flu so mega props for singing live anyway!
Did your phone ever get super hot?

WHAT DID YOU THINK OF JT'S OUTFIT? What a clown. His show was good though.

  1. I didn't like the music style of the national anthem. It wasn't the classic sound that I think it should have been but she was great considering how sick she was!
JT definitely had on a weird outfit. What was with the bandana? It seemed so randomly put on!

    1. I agree, when I was sick, I had zero voice at all. Amazing that she could perform. I read that she NEVER lip syncs, which I appreciate a lot.

  2. I didn’t watch any of the super bowl. Haha! Frank and I are terrible Americans. We did eat guacamole in honor of the Super Bowl though, so that kinda makes up for it.

  3. That was nice you had a day off from rehearsal. I often wonder if I would be able to remember all my lines if I were ever in a play or musical.

Was Paul happy about the outcome of the game last night? I did not see Pink perform but I did see JT and wondered the same thing about his outfit choice (and the outfits of his dancers). I even asked our guest "what is this look called"?

    1. I don't even have a lot of lines. It's just hard to remember where to go and when because we are on stage the WHOLE show except for about 3 minutes where we run offstage to change.

  4. I love the tank top you wore for the jump rope contest. I'm with you on JT's outfits, they were ALL terrible. In fact I wasn't too impressed by the halftime show or the commercials... the game was good though. Glad you had a good weekend and a good run with your dad too (y'all look so much alike too).

    1. Thank you! It says "Meowica" at the bottom. :) I do look like my dad, don't I!? It's crazy. My older brother looks a lot like us too.

  5. I really liked the halftime show! I am not a HUGE JT fan because it's not the genre of music I normally listen to, but I really enjoyed it. Liked the Prince tribute!

    1. Awesome, glad you enjoyed! What about Pink? Who were you rooting for?

  6. What is the Jump Rope for Heart event? We get the fliers with request for donations, but I haven't gone to any of the events.

So nice of your parents to come over for dinner! I'm jealous, my parents would never come just for dinner to my place.

I didn't watch the SB, but I did sign a petition for a different performer. I can't stand JT!! To me, he is just a creepy troll.

    1. It was just like a kick off assembly for the school, no parents or anything like that. Why wouldn't your parents come over for dinner? I don't like JT either!

  7. I didn't watch any of it. I watched Walk the Line, Snow White, and Victoria instead.

  8. What a fun weekend. Look at your finishing all these puzzles and also run, practive for the show, AND making dinner for your parents!

I wasn ever into N'Sync or JT for that matter and I am not much into the music, so the Halftime show was just 'meh' for me... but I thought Pink did a great job.

    1. I did feel very accomplished AND relaxed this weekend. I won't lie... I liked the snow day yesterday :)

  9. Justin's outfit didn't surprise me. I feel like he's has frequently worn outifts that are out there during his performances. Remember the crazy Dolce and Gabana outfits the guys wore during the Celebrity tour? Those were the most *interesting* lol!

    Found a pic!

The only thing that bothered me about JT's performance was how cheeky he was to do Rock Your Body when that was the song the incident with Janet happened with. I have a ton of thoughts about the Janet incident that's for another time and place but I was pretty disappointed that he did this song.

I agree about Pink's performance not being the best. Until I found out she had the flu I was pretty surprised. I mean she's always a little yell-y but I have heard her sing the anthem before and it was better. Can you imagine performing in front of so many people with the flu though? And I felt like there was a moment where you could see on her face that she wasn't happy with the performance and I felt bad for her.

Overall the game was really good though! Did Paul enjoy it? I kind of hoped that the Patriots would pull off the win in the end but it was such a good game.

    1. I do not remember those outfits but I agree, they are "interesting". He just would have looked so much better in something else? Could you imagine our men going out dressed like that??? (I know, our men aren't JT but he doesn't look good in it either.)

You should blog about your Janet Jackson/JT thoughts. I don't have strong thoughts either way about it. But I am open to having strong thoughts. :)

Paul LOVED the game but he never ever got comfortable with the thought that the Eagles would win until there were like 13 seconds left. He just really doesn't like the Pats. We live close to Philly but he is not a Philly fan. (I don't think he DISLIKES them.)
