Trends I want to try and the search for the perfect romper! (FRIDAY 5!)

Hey all! I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0!

Today I'm going to share 5 trends I want to try!

I am so not a fashionable person when it comes to running clothes My main concern is comfort. I know you can be fashionable and comfortable, I just don't make the effort!

As far as every day clothes, I do try to make an effort to look fashionable. I'm not sure "fashionable" is a word people think of when describing me, but that is okay. As long as "UNfashionable" is not the first word that comes to mind!

In a previous Friday 5 post, I showed the outfits I wore to work for a week. I'll do leggings, dresses, dress pants... whatever. I don't have a set type of style.

My wardrobe needed an update this fall, so that's what I did. (Check here and here for that!) Now that it's officially spring and summer is approaching, I'm not sure I need a spring/summer revamp in my wardrobe but I want one. Nothing huge... just a couple pieces. Maybe.

There are 5 "trends" I want to try. I am always very late when it comes to trends, so I am not sure these are actual trends anymore... But I still want to try them!

1. A romper. I have been searching for the PERFECT romper. It's hard when you're 34! I don't want to look like I am trying to dress too "young", but I am sure the perfect one is out there that would be appropriate for me. Here are some of the ones I tried within the past week...

Too frumpy in the middle.
Note: Would not wear these shoes!

Concerned this looks too young, but it was Paul's favorite! I regret not purchasing this one... it would've only been $14.99.

I like the last two in pictures but not in person.

2. Tapered leg workout pants for tap class. I found cool black ones from Under Armor here, but would prefer just a generic brand that are much cheaper!

 3. Wide legged linen pants. I found a cool pair similar to the ones I have pictured. They were from Ross and were only $10.99! However... the line at Ross was so long and I didn't feel like waiting!

The ones I liked were similar to these but navy blue and white.

4. Shoulder hole shirts. Been wanting to try these since fall. Is this trend on it's way out? Am I too late!?

5. A second hole in my ears! I have both lobes pierced and my left ear high on my cartilage. I want a second hole in both lobes and have wanted it for a long time. I'm not sure what I'm waiting for!
HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Are there any trends you are hoping to try for spring/summer?

How many piercings do you have in your ears?

Would you ever try a romper?

  1. Ive tried some rompers but I feel kind of weird in them. I like the black and white one on you! I have 3 piercings in each ear plus my cartilage in my left ear pierced but I only wear earrings in one set, so Im sure everything else has closed up!

  2. All the rompers look great on you! I could not wear a romper, I just don't feel comfortable with them on ... he whole lose around the waist / butt are make me feel frumpy.

When did you get your ear pierced ? Go for the second piercing !! I only have once piercing on each ear.

    1. I had to try a lot on until I started to feel comfortable... which is maybe a sign I shouldn't get one! My lobes I got pierced in like 2nd grade. Cartilage in 8th, but it got infected and closed up, so I got it repierced about 5 years ago. Bellybutton has been pierced since I was 22!

  3. I think you rock all those rompers! I would wear one but haven't really been looking. I have 3 holes in my left, 2 in my right and a navel ring. I think I'm good with those and don't really need anymore!

  4. I actually do have a romper and I remember wearing it in Florida back in 2014 (I only remember cus I have a pic of it). I am glad to learn that they are still in style. They all look good on you and I even like the first "frumpy" one. Perhaps you could wear a wide belt with it.

I could never pull off those wide printed pants cus I'm too short. Seems like a piece that wouldn't be in style long anyway. What do you think?

    1. Ooh I want to see you in the romper! Yes I agree the printed pants could go out of style so I wouldn't want to spend much money on them. The ones I found at Ross were $10.99!

    2. O gosh, I hope it still fits. I remember it being a little *short* back then. Now you have me wanting to go dig it out. I'll text you a pic when I try it on (if it fits properly..lol)

  5. Ahhhh you look so cute in rompers!!! You definitely need to buy one! I'm not trendy at ALL. I don't even know what's trendy. NO CLUE.

    1. I could TOTALLY see you in a black romper with all your tats sticking out! You would look hot!

  6. Go getchoself a romper girl. I have to say that I drink way to many liquids to have a romper...

  7. I love tapered pants for working out and lounging. They are really great for travel too!

  8. I have two piercings in each ear. I wanted a second piercing through high school, but didn't have the time with playing two sports. As soon as I was in summer before college, I got the second piercing. I was still playing a spring sport, but I had time to go through the 6 weeks/5months healing thing.

    1. I went to the mall today and they are everywhere! Hopefully you can find a cute one.

  10. I actually think that first romper isn't at all frumpy -- I think it's really cute! I also think a romper is not right for these 55 yr old legs that have expanded and contracted too many times. BTW, I like the boots with the romper too.

I have several cold shoulder tops, although I swear it's too cold to wear them! I think anyone can pull them off -- most people have good shoulders. Of course I just happened to buy one this week too. :)

    1. Nice! Those cold shoulder tops are very cute. What does yours look like?

  11. I have one hole in each ear but would love a cartilage piercing or an industrial (which is like the bar thingy in the cartilage). I think I should've gotten more holes in my ears in college or something, it might not be as professional now that I'm in my 30s. Guess I missed it when I had the chance, bleh!

Not a fan of rompers but I like the $14.99 one that Paul liked the best on you. I don't think one would really look good on me and would just make me look frumpier!

    1. I don't think there's anything unprofessional about having piercings in your ears. Don't you work from home? Would your company frown upon that?

  12. I'm loving the cold shoulder tops! They're chic and sassy, but not too revealing. I have single piercings in my ears, but have been thinking of double piercings for awhile...I know, what am I waiting for? (can you relate?). I've also thought of getting the cartilage pierced on one side....

    1. Is that why they are called, cold shoulder tops? I went to the mall today and they were EVERYWHERE. I saw some really cute ones at Macy's but they were $39... I didn't really want to spend that much money! (I'm el cheapo!)

  13. I fought so hard against rompers but they are finally growing on me. That's a sign they're not "super hip" and a fad anymore, but are truly acceptable everyday fashion. I am looking for a good one for summer, too, although I still wonder about peeing in them...

Linen pants are HUGE at my school. All the teachers wear them and look so good, and I always wonder how they manage to make them look...not pajama-y!

    1. You know I never thought about peeing in them until Suzy brought it up!

I tried on a couple linen pants today at Old Navy and I look so frumpy in them! I have an ample backside so any extra material there makes it look big... and if they are high wasted I look like I have mom butt!

  14. OMG that white/blue rompers looks AMAZING on you! Go back and get it!!!!

I'm the most unfashionable person ever, btw...

  15. Honestly I don't even know what the fashion trends are these days! I think the rompers look cute on you! I'm always told I look super young for my age so for me it's a no-win situation lol.
