Chrissy bit me again.

Chrissy bit me again. Luckily this was not as ruthless of a bite as the first two. If you want to hear about the first two bites, read this post. It's actually really entertaining.

So here's the story about bite #3...

On Monday night, I went into the sun room to get my laptop cord. The room was dark and I didn't turn on a light. I slammed my foot into the side table. I groaned and whimpered pretty loudly because it really hurt it!

Chrissy heard me and came trotting into the room. He ran right over, looked up at me, (I'm only seeing his outline, not his facial expressions because it's dark.) and licked my calf. Awwwww that's sweet, I thought to myself. He must really love me and want me to feel better!

Then Jelly trotted into the room and ran right up to us. For some reason, Christmas hissed at him. I think it's because we had the windows open all day and whenever they get a taste of that fresh, outside air, they get a little... animalistic.

I tried to diffuse the situation by walking out of the room and saying, "Come on guys! Be nice!" in my high pitched voice. They both followed me out of the room and all seemed fine.

But I forgot to grab my laptop cord. So I went back into the sun room and walked over to get my cord- over to where I slammed my foot and let out my pitiful whimpers.

Chrissy ran right back over to me, and since I had turned on the light, I could see the look on his face. He was alarmed. And I knew that look. It was the look he gave me right before he bit me the first two times...

He jumped up and bit me. Luckily, he didn't do it hard, and he got the side of my knee where it's sort of hard and the teeth can't go down too far. He definitely could have got me harder if he wanted to. I would call this... a warning bite.

I stayed calm. The last thing to do is flip out. He had bit me and he still looked pretty alarmed. He was scared of something. For some reason, he must have afraid of that area of the room where I made that loud noise and groaned.

I didn't stare him in the eyes, I did get defensive or aggressive. Believe me, it was hard. I calmly took a pillow off the couch and held it. I planned to use it to protect myself in case he attacked again. I slowly, but purposefully walked out of the room, trying to act as normal as possible. If I acted weird, it would scare him.

I went into the bedroom and shut the door. Then I called Paul on my cell (he was in the basement.) I told him. "Come upstairs and feed the cats. Just trust me. Act normal."

Paul came up with his purposeful footsteps and opened the fridge. I heard both cats meow and run to the kitchen. FOOD fixes everything! Just that smell of wet food calmed Chrissy down. Both kitties ate, then Chrissy curled up on the guest bed and went to sleep.

I kissed him goodnight because I love him.

Update: My leg is a little black and blue and sore from the bite, but not infected or anything.
Did you ever get bit by an animal?
What's the scariest thing your fur baby did?

  1. Hmmm, why do you think a creature that obviously loves you so much would purposely bite you?

    1. Because he was scared. All of the times he bit me, he seemed really scared. :(

  2. Wow...That would scare me. Honestly both dogs we have had are big balls of love (and licks). Scary to me is when they get sick or if they start to limp. Then I freak out.

  3. I think it's amazing that Chrissy has only bit you three times, but since he does it so infrequently it must be scary.

Cecil probably bites me more than 3X a week. I think the problem is that we adopted Cecil from my mom's neighbor who did not know anything about cat care at all. When Cecil was born the neighbor kept the litter of kittens indoors but after just a couple of weeks he made the mom cat go back to living outside (ugh). Unfortunately I think because of this Cecil's mom didn't have the chance to teach him not to get too aggressive when he plays, so now when Cecil is playful it escalates really quickly. One minute you're having a good time the next minute he's jumping and biting.

We've gotten used to it and we know how to divert his attention. When he gets too aggressive we start throwing his toys across the room so he can get his energy out by chasing them, but I think it surprises some people because when he's not all hyped up he's the most loving, cuddly baby ever! It's definitely just play aggression and I know he still loves me deep down even when he's gnawing my leg off! jk it's never that bad haha!

    1. Does Cecil bite you or does he BITE you? Like do his fangs puncture down into your skin? Because Chrissy has bit me before like through play and there isn't blood or anything. But these stories about him biting me... I mean, we are talking punctures, black and blue, etc. (I'm not tying to one up you! I just want to clarify because if Cecil does that to you 3xs a week!?? Omg you poor thing!!!!)

    3. YES his bites hurt, usually a lot. I sometimes get scared but I am mostly used to it. I sometimes use a pillow to protect myself like you said. It's like taming a lion!

  4. He must be trying to tell you something. It's hard to know exactly what. Allie doesn't bite, but she does swing her paw trying to get my attention every now and then. No claws out, but she's done with me "ignoring" her.

    1. Ooh I get the swing with no claws thing too. It's funny, Chrissy always does that to me when he's hungry. If I walk by him he'll hit me on the leg. It's actually pretty funny.

  5. Chrissy!!!!! My cat bites me all the time but they're not for real bites. They cut it close, though and when she gets a little too worked up and feisty, I make sure that she doesn't get a power trip. I flip her over so her belly is exposed and hold the back of her neck (I don't hurt her!!!) and talk to her in a soothing voice. She has never ever ever bitten or scratched Callum, which amazes me, because everyone else gets it and he's the one that scares her and is rougher with her. She somehow knows that he is small and doesn't understand.

    1. That is so sweet she doesn't ever hurt Callum. It's like the KNOW. I know what you mean about the neck thing. My cats like rough lovin' on their neck too!

  6. OUchies!! that sounds painful!

The only thing I can remember now, is when my dog Cordy, tried to bite my son when he got too close to her food. I wasn't there when it happened, but his Dad told me about it. That day I was really mad at Cordy, but the following weeks, I worked on training her on not attacking anybody when she was eating.
