Running Treasure Hunt

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Today I'm showing some love to Wendy @ Taking The Long Way Home. She organized a Running Treasure Hunt. I am probably too late to link up, however, I still wanted to participate.

On Monday, I headed out for a 6 miler around my 'hood. Now that I'm not training for anything, this run had no agenda other than it being a "Tomorrow I'm going to the beach so I better not look like a whale in my bikini" run.

I thought it would be fun to do the treasure hunt during this run to give it some real purpose. Plus it would be interesting to see if I could find anything at all worthy of being documented along my running route.

Here's what I found and decided to share with you...

1. A Mini Papasan Chair.

I sort of wanted to take it home and see if Jelly wanted it!
Are tiny little papasan chairs things? Have you seen these?

2. Weeds!

I freaking LOVE TO WEED, and at a playground near my house, it has come to my attention that their play area is getting overgrown with weeds!

Do you think they would be mad if I weeded for them? I am serious. It would give me so much satisfaction to pull these weeds.

3. Too Many Trump Signs.

Not a single Clinton sign. Don't worry, I ordered mine about a week ago.
Can't wait to represent!

4. Lots of bears.

These bear decorations are all from a yard a block from my house.

5. A monkey swing.

Okay, so the reason this monkey swing caught my eye was because the last HOH Competition on Big Brother featured the house guests seeing who could stand on a swinging monkey swing the longest. I wanted to hop up on the swing just to test and see how hard it actually is!

And last but not least, I found home sweet home!!!

See anything interesting on your runs lately?

  1. I never really see anything interesting on my run. Some places nearby have really bad weeds- Im sure they would appreciate your help with getting rid of them!

    1. I normally don't see anything cool either. You should see the pics of dumb things I DIDN'T use haha.

  2. LOVE! Thanks for playing along! It's not too late to link up--today's the last day. But come on over to the party.

What is up with those bears?

    1. Great I'll head over and link!

The bears = hilarious! It is a very friendly looking yard though. :)

  3. I had no idea that was called a monkey swing. The only thing I saw today on my run was a baby pacifier. I suspect a baby threw it out of his stroller while his momma was pushing him on the trail. ( or perhaps it was his dad, don't mean to be sexist here..lol)

    1. Ahahaha you are funny. :)

We called it a monkey swing growing up because ours had a monkey on it. Maybe it's not really called that!?

  4. Wow, you are really surrounded by a lot of Trump. Yikes. I am confident the school would not care if you weeded those grounds. And then you can come to my house because while Rick does not love to weed, he's pretty OCD about keeping every single one out of our yard. Bunnies, bunnies and more bunnies is what I see when I run or cycle. They are literally everywhere and I just about took one out today on my bike (not on purpose).

    1. Aw glad you didn't create bunny roadkill. We have lots of bunnies in our'hood too but I normally see them on my morning runs... which unfortunately will begin again on Tues. Goodbye, summer! :( Yes, way too much Trump. Eastern/Western PA is blue but Central PA is pretty much Kentucky.

  6. Nice views of your hood! That is a beary bear covered house!

anytime I see a Trump sing I cross the street, there is a block of Camp Hill that I avoid now. Way to represent for Hillary! I'm ordering my buttons!

    You have a beautiful home!

    1. Thank ya!

Yes I can't wait to get my H stuff. I got a yard sign and car magnet. :) I actually think I got buttons too... I forget. I got H happy one night.

  7. I think I've seen those little chairs in the kids section of Ikea. I'm sure Jelly would have enjoyed sitting on it. What doesn't a cat enjoy sitting on? As soon as we bring anything new into the house Cecil sits on it within 30 seconds! Amazon box? Grocery bags? Cecil doesn't discriminate :)

I love the colors you chose for the outside of your house!

    1. Thank you! We got it painted on a whim one day. Someone was wandering around our neighborhood offering to paint houses. I swear it's not as shady as it sounds. :)

Cecil sounds awesome! My kitties like new things too, especially boxes from Aldis. I cat sat for my friend this morning and his kitten just straight up laid on my purse. SOMETHING NEW!

  8. Yes the bears are weird but friendly. :)

Nothing really interesting to see in my hood either... I was sort of grasping at straws.

  9. It cracks me up that you love to weed!! To each her own, haha!

I honestly believe there are more Trump signs in circulation because people are still embarrassed to support Clinton, so her supporters are quieter. When we drive through the center of the state, we see SO MANY Trump signs. We're always tempted to pull them out and hide them...

    1. That's why I want to get my sign out- I want to show people there is nothing to be embarrassed about by supporting Clinton! I am proud to support her. I volunteered for her campaign here in PA but haven't heard back from anyone.

  10. This post made me smile! What a great idea! I love those chairs to have in my classroom, the kids love sitting and reading in them! My friend is scared Trump might win because in NY we only see Trump signs too and Clinton was senator here!

    1. You know what, that actually makes me feel better because Clinton undoubtedly will win the state of NY in the general election. I think Trump supporters are just more likely to have signs in their front yard.
