MGR's Workout Recaps!

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger... Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Okay, I think I finally got my workouts posted on the correct day- Saturday! This is when I will be posting them from now on.

My main reason for doing this is because I know that not a lot of people read my recaps. (I don't blame you. But I still write them because I love to have record of what's going on in case I ever need to look back.)

Due to the odd timing, this recap includes more than a week of workouts... 10 days, actually! But I am finally on track and from now on I will only share a week with you at a time!

Wednesday- 5 miles before work. I wanted to do 6, but my knee was hurting so I called it quits. Freaking annoying.

Thursday- I woke up with very prominent pain in my left heel! It went away after I walked around a bit. This is how my PF started back in the beginning of the summer. Freaking A! If this is the beginning of PF, how the hell did it happen? I have only run 40 miles in the past 16 days. That's only 2.5 miles per day on average.

WHAT THE HELL DID HANSONS DO TO MY BODY????? (By the way, I will officially be blaming Hansons for anything and everything that is wrong with my life from here on out. Just kidding. I will stop complaining soon, I promise.)

My plan was to lift that day anyway, so it's not like the heel pain altered my plans, but it was still annoying! I decided I would lift the next day too, just for good measure and reevaluate the situation on Saturday.

Friday- My heel did not hurt at all today but my ITB was KILLING ME. Absolutely KILLING ME FOR NO GOSH DARN REASON!!!! I lifted before work in my sun room while I watched CNN.

Saturday- I ran 5 miles and felt pretty good. Why does my body feel better on running days than non running days?

Sunday- Another 5 miles... feeling good.

Monday- 5 more miles... feeling good.

Tuesday- I went to Planet Fitness and lifted back before work. Back days are the days I have to get up the earliest... 5am! It usually takes me around 1.5 hours to complete my whole workout. I didn't feel great because I got my period that day.

Wednesday- 5 miles. My runs have been hovering between 8:15-8:25 pace. Much faster than I was doing while marathon training. I feel like I am BACK to my normal "la la la" pace.

Thursday- I lifted chest at home. I almost skipped it but I didn't!

Friday- We still had off work due to mold issues in our buildings, so Paul and I went on a fishing/running date at Pinchot Park. It was so freaking hot and humid that it was borderline dangerous. I stayed near my car so I could grab water and shade when I needed it and/or bail if I needed to. Since my body felt great, I ended up doing 6 miles.

How were your workouts this week?

  1. It's so weird how your pain moves around so much, but I can totally relate. Glad you got in some good runs and workouts!

    1. I am a special little snowflake when it comes to pain, apparently!

  2. Bleh, sorry about the pain interfering with workouts but glad your running is back to normal and you were able to get a lot of miles in. I guess it has to be stressful the last few days with adding school/work back into the routine as well!

    1. Any change in routine messes with my head! We had off since Wed and we will have off Mon too, so now I feel like I have an extended summer.

  3. So great to hear you are back to your "la la la pace" and feeling good. I was nursing some peroneal tendonitis last week and walked only--started back in with running this week and was doing great until I got greedy yesterday and ran a little too much and now it's unhappy again. My plan is to stay off my feet for a few days then try to add in some walking. So frustrating but part of the game. These things are probably always going to come up. And honestly it's not the no running thing I hate so much as "how hard will it be to come back". Depending on how long of a break I take, those first few workouts don't feel awesome and I hate that...

    1. I know what you are talking about as far as worried about getting back more than the time off! Hey I am glad you don't have PF!!! I once diagnosed myself with peroneal tendonitis but my podiatrist told me what I had was "nothing". But that is what I thought I had!

    2. When my PT checked it he said NO but I am not 100% convinced because the pain is right on the outside of my foot and radiates over into my heel so of course I am worried about it.

  4. Glad to hear you are back at it! Did Paul catch any fish?

  5. Nicely done! I remember reading an article about Hansons in Runner's World and thinking "woah, I think I would die doing that kind of mileage." It's crazy how long it can take to really and truly recover from any kind of injury or "wrong" plan for your body (I'd so blame it too :)) When you lift at home, what equipment do you use? I really need to do more strength training!

    1. I use dumbbells, a bench, a pull up ball, and a stability ball.

  6. It sounds like your body is still in a recovery phase after all that training! Weird aches and pains in random places...It'll go back to normal soon, I'm sure!

I never know when to post my recaps. I like to put them up Sundays because no one reads them anyway, but if I don't run until Sunday evening for my last workout it seems pointless to publish Sunday night instead of just waiting until Monday morning. I'm not very good at keeping a consistent schedule lol!

  8. It was dangerous - and I ran 6 miles LOL
That is good things are starting to feel right!
The aches just piss me off these days. Mine come so long after I run, I mean how the hell can I decide if I am relatively okay if I feel good while moving but pay later. Sorry, just venting...
