First run after Boston.

It was GORGEOUS in Central PA on Saturday, so Paul and I did one of our Disc Golf/Running dates. We went to Willow Mill Park in Mechanicsburg. Paul played a round of disc golf while I went for my first post Boston run.

It was really warm so I dressed in my skivvies!

That's not my game face. That's my "trying to take a picture face".

I also wore my knee brace. It hasn't done me wrong yet, so I'm going to keep wearing it for a little while.

It was pretty hot out and the course I did was really hilly. I didn't mind- I had a great Survivor pod cast to listen to. But boy my legs went s-l-o-o-o-o-o-o-w! My knee felt fine. My right quad is still pretty sore from the race, which I didn't notice until I started running.

After consulting the internet, I have determined it is my Vastus Medialis which is still sore.  I'm going to hold off on running until Wednesday and see how it feels then. Otherwise, my body feels great. I don't know how I got away with all this!

Paul snapped my picture when I passed him on the disc golf course.

All in all, it was a good run!
I'm glad Boston didn't make my wheels fall off!
Go on any good runs this weekend?
Is disc golf popular where you are?

  1. You are way ahead of me. I tried to run yesterday I made it three steps like literally just out of my driveway and I turned around to come home :( thank you for the diagram! I have also determined that my right leg Vastus lateralis is sore and my left leg Vastus medialis is sore :( i'm hearing a lot of other runners say how sore their quads are as well so we are not alone :)

    1. We earned those sore quads- especially you! I ran at a much slower pace and walked some so that is prob why your quads are a little more torn up. Just remember... 3:42!!!!! :) :) :)

  2. I have a Garmin Forerunner 405. You can set it to intervals. You can actually do a TON with it but I couldn't tell you what. All I know is I use probably 2% of it's features lol.

  4. Sounds like your first run back was excellent! Boston is a quad-killer, for sure. I'm running a downhill marathon in September and I'm already bracing myself for super sore quads.

    1. It was fun to fly down the hills but I'm certainly paying for it. :)

  5. No good runs here this weekend, lots of cross training. (I have a bad foot/ankle :(

Hope your quad feels better soon and you are back at it!

  6. Those cat stamps on your Garmin pics always crack me up!

Do you use special running sunglasses, or just your normal ones?

    1. I put them there because of the overwhelming support I get from like you and ... one other person! Haha. Cat stickers stay. :) I just wear normal sunglasses. They were $7 from Wal Mart.

  7. I'm glad you had a good run!!! My first run back from a race I'm always nervous something is going to hurt; it's such a relief when all I feel is a little soreness! I get that same sore spot as you!

    1. That is a relief to hear you get the same sore spot as me. I never had just one spot in my quad hurt. It was always like all or nothing!
