Runfessions!

Today I am participating in Marcia's Runfession's link up! Be sure to visit her blog and check out some of the other bloggers who are Runfessing today!

I don't really have anything JUICY for you today! But I will try my best to keep it interesting...

Runfession #1: My favorite running shorts are from Wal Mart. They were $5.99 each and I have 8 pairs!!! (Only some of them are pictured because the others are in the wash.)

Runfession #2: I only ever ran one 5k!

Runfession #3: Last Sunday, I ran trail for the first time in almost a year. My ankles were very sore for several days after.

Runfession #4: One of the reasons I don't run trail a lot is because I am afraid of snakes. I have become quite obsessed with reading rattlesnake bite survival stories...

Runfession #5: I like to eat two Airheads right before I go to bed. But only if I'm not hungry.

Runfession #6: I find Stephen Colbert attractive.

Runfession #7: It is really freaking hot out but I refuse to turn the A/C on in May! It's about 20 degrees cooler in the basement. Every once in awhile I carry the cats down there just to remind them that there is sweet relief to the heat!

Runfession #8: Last night I dreamed I ran through a Taylor Swift concert but I didn't stop because I couldn't care less about her!
Do you have something you want to Runfess?
How many 5ks have you run?
Tell me your scariest animal sighting!
Any strange celebrity crushes?
Yay or nay or T-Swift?

  1. Hahah your dream is so random and funny!! And I also think its funny that you eat 2 airheads before bed if you're not hungry. I don't think I have had an airhead since i was in high school.

    1. They are just not good to eat if you are hungry but if you're not hungry they're great! :) I never ate Airheads growing up but Paul recently introduced them to me.

  2. I an runfess I have only run one 5K (and my only race ever) and it was when I was 11. Seeing a herd of elk along the bike path made me nervous as I cycled by them--I don't think they are aggressive but who knows!? I can totally see why you find Stephen Colbert attractive. I feel the same way about Jimmy Fallon--he is so funny that I find him adorable! A big HUGE nay on T-Swift! Not my style...at all.

    1. My kindergarteners love to dance to Shake it Off and they know all the words!

Oh my gosh did I ever tell you my story about how I drank Jimmy Fallon's coke??? http://meggorun.blogspot.com/2014/11/my-brushes-with-celebrities.html

I don't know if elk are aggressive either and that is exactly what I'd be afraid of- a herd of them following me!!

    2. OMG, I had forgotten that until I just went back and read it. Of course the only person I commented on was Jimmy. Obviously I am still smitten.

I love that you drank his Coke!

  3. I find Stephen Colbert sexy, too. Something about his face, but also his humor...

Do your Walmart shorts have built-in spankies? I'm actually not really picky about my running shorts as long as they have underwear and a key pocket.

I'd run through and ignore T Swift, too. She bores me.

How many air heads do you eat if you ARE hungry?

    1. Oh man it is totally his humor/intelligence and there is this one playful smile he gets on his face- that one certain look!

I never heard built in underwear called spankies but yet the shorts have built in underwear! I like that in shorts as well. No key pocket. There is a drawstring which I sometimes tie my key to.

I don't eat Airheads if I am hungry! They are only good when not hungry. :)

  4. I recently had an angry groundhog trapped in my garage and Lily and I had to get it out. He WOULD NOT run out the door, and he chewed the window handle, chewed through 2 garage door opener wires...We finally got him out with the help of a neighbor...I was freaked out...
Walmart has some nice running tops too--super soft. I have 2 that are my favorites.
Steven Colbert reminds me of Johnny Carson who was MY FAVORITE. (Yes, dating myself here).
As a mom of teens, I hear plenty of TS. Not my favorite, but I don't mind. I DO like the fact that she is a smart girl.

    1. Yes, she definitely seems like someone young girls could look up to, so that is a plus!

An angry groundhog??? That sounds scary!

  5. I was just thinking that I should go to Walmart and pick up a few pair of shorts for this summer!

I would love to not have air conditioning. Our house is set up on some climate control thing were the air conditioning is always on. I hate it. When I ask to turn it off Scott acts like it's not possible and it will mess the whole system up. I think he's just fooling with me though.

  6. Oh, and I do think there is something intriguing about T swift seeing as she came from a small town in PA and made it to where she is. I was bored one night and watched a video of her life story. I'm a sucker for a happy success story. It shows kids they really can do anything they set their mind too. Her dad went to the high school I taught at.

    1. I keep forgetting she is from PA! I don't dislike Taylor, I just never liked her music and the few times I heard live recordings of her she was horrible. I've seen her on Ellen and she seems like a nice person.

  7. Ewww black snakes are always so big and thick. Gross.

  8. Ahahaha well you should have stopped to say hi to me at the Taylor concert because I would be totally in my element watching her show. I am currently obsessed with running to her song called Red!

I love Stephen Colbert. A part of me finds him attractive, especially because he's smart and funny. Another part knows that he looks exactly like one of my high school teachers and that makes me feel weird! We also had a teacher who looked exactly like Jon Stewart (just a little taller)! Not surprisingly, all the girls in my high school thought the Stephen Colbert teacher was really attractive, haha.

    1. I never heard Red but my Kindergarteners love dancing to Shake It Off so I think I know all the words to that. :)

Stephen's intelligence, humor, and charisma are definitely what I like about him! Sounds like you had some cute HS teachers! None of the teachers at my HS were cute. Even looking back I don't think they were cute!

  9. The fear of snakes is a real struggle for me too because I love trails so much. I just try to stay aware. We had one in our yard right before Easter and it freaked me out so much, I didn't want to leave the house.

    1. Girl, if there was a snake in my yard I would not leave the house either. No effing way!!!

  10. I need to hear more about the Airheads before bed bit. Is there a particular flavor? How did this start? I used to eat Airheads allll the time when I was younger.

    1. I never ate Airheads growing up but my husband apparently liked them so he started buying them. I do look fruity sour/sweet candy so I liked the Airheads. For some reason right before bed I am like hmmmm I need a little bit of sugar. It is weird, I know! But I suppose 2 Airheads is better than like a bunch of chips or a bowl of ice cream!

  11. OMG you're hilarious! I have no clue how many 5ks I've run but I assure you more than one. I loathe snakes as well. We have these horrible black "water" snakes. I saw one completely flattened on the road the other day. Ugh. I get major eyerolls from my teenager whenever I buy something in multiple colors. If multiples are wrong I don't wanna be right!

    1. I bet you ran a lot of 5ks! Too many to count! Those black water snakes sound so gross. I hate seeing dead snakes on the road. The freak me out almost as much as live snakes. Sometimes I see string or rubber on the road and think it's a snake and even that makes me tingly.

  12. I had to google Stephen Colbert. There's my "run"fession. And OMG Meg, that's hilarious! Maybe he has a really good personality?!? I am obsessed with Kevin Costner because he looks like my middle sister's first husband and I loved him.

    1. LOL he is very funny and smart and charismatic. :)

I find Kevin Costner attractive too!!! More so him about 10-15 years ago.

  13. I can completely relate to #4, however my fear is always that a mountain lion is going to jump me from behind. I literally find myself looking around when I am out on the trails.

    1. I would be scared of Mtn Lions too!! Now serious question when you are out there alone- what is your plan if a mtn lion tries to attack you??????? I am worried about hiking in CO w/ Paul....

  14. I've done a couple 5ks but only one in real life the others have been virtual races.
Snakes freak me out but I'm more afraid of ticks.
I find the best deals a Wal-mart all my running shorts are from there as well.
I don't eat airheads anymore after chipping a tooth on one, but I am addicted to Jelly Bellys.

    1. Ooh Jelly Bellys are good too! Pretty much the same just softer so that is good. :)

I should be more afraid of ticks!

  15. I had to look -- but I've run 89 5ks. And they are NOT my favorite distance. Way too much pain! Oh my gosh, I think our A/C has been on since February! I like the Walmart shorts. If I could only bring myself to go inside...

    1. 89!!!!!!!!!!!??????????????????? You go girl!!!!

Yah sometimes the shit show that is wal mart isn't worth the savings. ;)

  16. Your Taylor Swift concert dream cracked me up! I feel the same way about her. I have no clue how many 5Ks I've run - I have mixed feelings about them...on the one hand you're done quickly, on the other hand so painful to race them!

    1. They are painful to race! I don't know where the heck that dreams came from. :)

  17. Why only the one 5k? I could see you winning all the local 5ks!

I am openly in love with Craig Ferguson, he is not very handsome, but i find his intellect very attractive !

    1. Well I don't race a lot, and when I did race a lot, it was longer distances. Also, they are so painful!!!

  19. I love good cheap shorts. When I find some I like I buy every color. ( I do this with regular clothes too.) I am so scared of snakes! I don't think I could ever run trails for that reason! I would be too paranoid the entire time!

  20. Oh gosh...the ankles post-trail are usually sore for me, too! There's so much twisting/contorting and very uneven terrain...it's all part of the package. That said, I still enjoy the challenge of trails!!
