They say if your dreams don't scare you, they're not big enough. I guess that is why I had to go and sign up for another race. I am running the Movie Madness Half Marathon in Harrisburg on April 23. It's a couple weeks after the Capital 10-miler, so I am hoping to cash in on some of that training!
The course starts on City Island and is FLAT, which means this may be my half marathon redemption run! (Remember, BDR did not go that well for me!)
I have no idea what "Movie Madness" has to do with this race. Are people going to be in costumes? The website is a little weird and so was the sign up process. I wasn't even able to discern whether this is the first year for the race or what.
Hey Central PA friends who want a flat spring half marathon... sign up for this one!
And now for something COMPLETELY RANDOM...
Use this nifty chart to figure out your running name!
I am Fartleki Hydrator!
What's your running name according to the chart?
According to YOU?
Hey, my. Dad and I did the movie madness race several years ago when it started at the Hollywood casino. Yes, people did dress up. There was one kid there that was a really good looking Harry Potter! I would love to consider this race since it is flat but doubt I would be half marathon ready by April!
ReplyDeleteOkay I vaguely remember there being a half marathon there and that it was hilly! Did you guys dress up? I will not be dressing up... I don't think... Unless you have a good idea?? :)
DeleteAs far as dressing up, ehh, we did a James Dean Marilyn Monroe thing. My dad wore a black tech shirt with a motorcycle theme on it and I had a Marilyn Monroe shirt and a running skirt. At the last minute I ended up taking the shirt off and just running in the tank top. Yes it was very hilly near the casino. You should try to place. My dad placed in his age group and got this really cool trophy that is like a mini Oscar award. I thought it was cute for a small race and gave my daddy a big head for a while...lol
DeleteYou signed up! That's great!!!
ReplyDeleteChafee O'Finisher .... hm. I don't think I like that name! I don't want to be associated with chafing!
LOL I don't like that name either!
DeleteMarkers Ultrazzz but it should be Streakers El Stinko.
ReplyDeleteMarkers? Why is that on there? As in, on your MARK get set go?
DeleteFarleki I like that! I don't like that you got hurt. :(
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Great idea to use all that training for a 1/2 marathon. My name would be Fartleki Ultrazz. I think your name would be Fartleki, too since it ends w/ an "N".
ReplyDeleteOh man I clearly can't read the chart! Fartleki Hydrator it is!
DeleteChafee O'Winded! Sadly I did get chaffed this morning on my run! Very unusual, guess I haven't run very far in those shorts before. And O'Winded? Seems like that's any speedwork lately. So yes, a very appropriate name for me today!!
ReplyDeleteSee when I think of wind, I think of FARTING! But that's just me, you're the one named O'Winded so you would know. ;)
DeleteOh man, I didn't even put that connection together. Thanks so much! (not) hahaha! [and for the record, I do not have gas issues!]
DeletePaces or Fartleki El Stinko...nice! I guess it depends on if I'm going by my nickname or not.
ReplyDeleteI'm soooo excited for possible redemption half! Definitely share more info on this race when you learn more...it seems like a theme that could make for a great race if it's done well!
I will let you know! I'm sure they will be sending me emails. El Stinko- so classy!
DeleteChafee El Stinko! No bueno! Yay for another race! I kind of want to do a half in April alas the only one is a sister race to the one I'm doing in May so the race tee is basically the same. Plus its in the city which means $30 parking. No thanks.
ReplyDeleteEw that would be an expensive race!
DeleteThat would be me, Joggy OPlacer! Yep!
ReplyDeleteOh so cute!
DeleteI'm so excited to hear you will be doing another race. Your half marathon is two weeks before my half marathon... which means I will use you for inspiration. :) Nothing like a pancake flat course!
ReplyDeleteMy running name: Fartleki Repeateroo
I like the running term Beast Mode.
Like Beast Mode Cowboy!? ;)
DeleteThat is cool our races are so close together! I hope I can be of good inspiration for you. What's you goal?
Ana Robee Marathonso! lol.
ReplyDeleteI love having two races close together like that, it's like you get more bang for your training buck. ;)
Yeah! May as well cash in on some training.
DeleteI saw this race ad, It's organized by US Road Runners, and their races are different than other races. First there isn't as many volunteers, at least there weren't at the 10K last summer. And it was very small. Some people dress up, for most don't. They do have costume contest, at all their races!
ReplyDeleteI would suggest taking your own water, their races don't have water stops. When I did the 10K last august, it was sunny and hot, and they didn't have one single water stop. Good luck with your training!
Thank you for the tip about the water! That is so strange they didn't have a water stop for the 10k. I mean all you would really need for a 10k is one, two at the most.
DeleteI was thinking about maybe dressing up... not like head to toe costume or anything, but it might take to pressure off a little bit to wear some sort of fun accessory. Or, that would just be a good opportunity to chafe somewhere new! Haha!
