What a non stop week! My weeks are getting busier. I took on some new piano students. Now I teach lessons on Tuesdays from 4pm-7pm. On Thursdays, I teach from 4pm-7:30pm with a break between 6-7. But I am looking to fill in that time slot! If you are looking for piano lessons for you child, contact me, as I only have two spots left!
By the time Friday rolled around, I was ready for relaxation...
That was me this week!
I had a lot of catching up to do on Friday night!
I planned to run 10 miles on Saturday, but I missed a turn, so the run ended up being 11 miles. This is the longest I have run since... I believe June! I kept it at a "plod along pace". When I was done, I didn't want to go any farther, but I could have. That's a good sign. It would be nice to get my long runs long again. But then I ask myself, "For what purpose?" Do I really need to be running longer than 10-ish miles on the weekends if I'm not training for a marathon? No.
That afternoon, Paul and I headed up to Knoebels Grove to meet my parents, brother, SIL and nieces for some Halloween fun at the park. A lot of the rides were open and everything was decorated for Halloween. Think "Hershey Park in the Dark" but waaaaaaaaaay more wallet friendly.
My niece rode the fire engines not one, not two, but FOUR times!
Paul loves America!
- Parking and entry into the park is FREE.
- You can pack your own food and drinks so you're not forced to buy expensive/unhealthy park food if you don't want to.
- You can buy an all day riding pass or pay for each ride with tickets.
- Knoebels has one of the highest ranked wooden roller coasters in the country- The Phoenix, and one of the best Haunted Mansions in the country!
- Animals are allowed in the park. There are even three rides you can take your dog on- the carousel, the pioneer train, and the antique cars! (One thing I have not been able to figure out... do dogs need tickets to ride.
- You can camp at their campground or spend the day swimming in their huge Crystal Pool!
**Knoebels did not pay me for this free advertisement, but maybe they should? I just LOVE KNOEBELS!
On Sunday, I did what I do pretty much every Sunday... housework, errands, and dance rehearsal. Oh, and our lawn is now mowed. You're welcome, neighbors.
We now have chicken after about 5 days without it.
My muscles have been getting concerned.
Speaking of muscles, I read an AWESOME article on Sunday morning... 4 Reasons the Word Toned Needs to Die.
My Sunday run was... hill repeats. Ugh! I haven't done them forever and they are horrible!
The vomit inducing hill.
I shall leave you with an inspirational picture... (You know I can't end a Weekend Wrap Up without something cat related!)
Have you ever been to Knoebels?
Anyone race this weekend?
What do you think of the word "toned"?
I almost forgot Halloween existed until I went to the mall this weekend and saw how crowded Spencer's was. I can't believe that store still exists! I remember thinking how riske and cool it was when I was a tween, but really it's just tacky!
ReplyDeleteI want to share that graphic but unfortunately I don't think Cecil is the brightest crayon in the box! I've tried to teach him so many commands but the only one he has nailed is "sit" and I'm pretty sure that is just because he gets lazy waiting for me to drop the treat and he actually has no idea what "sit" means! :)
Oh Spencer's was like sooooo cool back in the day! I feel like it must have gotten raunchier because if it USED to be the way it is NOW there is no way my parents would have let me go in there!
Deleteps. Cecil IS smart I think- he knows he does NOT need to follow your commands and that you will pamper and feed him anyway. :)
DeleteThat's true! I should give him more credit, he doesn't listen to a thing I say, but he knows exactly how to get me up out of bed at 3am to give him a a small treat! :D
DeleteThe pic of the cats with the chicken cracks me up! My dog oliver is obsessed with chicken... he could be sound asleep and if he smells it, he's right at my feet:) Great job with the run and being smart :)
ReplyDeleteMy kitty Christmas too will wake up if he smells chicken- or milk! It is sort of annoying, but a little endearing too. He's always hustlin'. :)
DeleteGoing to Knoebles growing up was something that we always did. It is really cost efficient compared to other amusement parks. -L
ReplyDeleteIt sure is! I love sharing the good news about Knoebels!
DeleteI am with you that it is a slow process for us gals but if we stick with it we can see results! I did hill repeats for exactly the reason you said- I wanted to mix it up!
ReplyDeleteI've never heard of Knoebles - I don't think they have any around here.
ReplyDeleteGlad you were able to catch up on sleep some Friday night - my brain rarely lets me sleep either:)
If you lived closer I would have you teach my youngest son to play the piano. Who knows?! I might even take refresher lessons myself.
Unfortunately, there is only one Knoebels!
DeleteI have never heard of Knoebles, but I am all for a family friendly park where you don't feel fleeced after spending time there!
ReplyDeleteI play the piano! I gave my youngest lessons for 4 years, then she switched to the violin. It's fun to play together. I would like to give lessons, but it would be for the busiest hours of the day for me as a mom...
They is so cool that you taught your kiddo piano. :) You are right, I teach lessons when I get home from work from 4-7pm.... PRIME TIME MOMMY TIME!
DeleteI want to go to Knoebles! I'll have to try and convince someone to go with me next time I'm home! I just busted out laughing at your inspirational picture!
ReplyDeleteUmmmm I WILL GO TO KNOEBELS WITH YOU!!! You will love it. :)
DeleteUgh, I'm sorry your insomnia isn't abating...If it makes you feel better, I gave up sleep to read the JonBenet book, and then I dreamt about it, so my sleep has been weird, too! lol I can't wait to to read the OJ Simpson one next!
ReplyDeleteOmg I am so happy you read the JonBenet one! Are you done with it? What do you think????
