Kristen @ Sweat Courage started a new blog series- 10 Day You Challenge.
Today is 6 Places!
I decided to talk about 5 places we have already been and one place we want to go.
1. San Francisco
Our first "big" trip as a couple was to San Francisco. Even though we went four years after we got married, we called it our HONEYMOON! We spent five days in the city, then drove down Route 1 and spent some time in Monterey and Big Sur. We had the time of our lives. I planned this trip very carefully, so if you ever need tips for a San Francisco vacation, I am your gal to contact!
2. Colorado
We went to Colorado this past summer. You can read all about it here. Again, this was the trip of a lifetime! It is funny for me to say that because I know some of my readers actually live in Colorado. I am so envious! It's like you live in one of our favorite vacation spots! Hey, if you ever want to house swap and come to Central PA, let me know! We are a half hour from Hershey, Gettysburg, and... umm.... Lancaster!? Oh, and we have two adorable kitty cats who would love to wake you up at 4:30 am.
3. Boston
We've actually been to Boston three times. The first time was for a short vacation. The second two times were for the marathon. My favorite Boston memories are from the first time we went. We were so young and naive. I remember getting off the T with our luggage and not knowing where the heck our hotel was. I think we walked around for at least an hour before we called the hotel and summoned a shuttle. What were we thinking!? Oh right, we were only 23! (Sadly, I don't have pictures from that trip!)
4. Fallingwater
Last summer, Paul planned a trip for us to the beautiful Fallingwater. I had always wanted to go there, and while I knew it would be interesting, I didn't know just how interesting it would be! This is the famous house designed by Frank Lloyd Wright. It sits on top of a waterfall in the middle of the woods If you ever make it out to the Laurel Highlands, I really recommend taking a tour.
5. Home
I especially like when our home is decorated for Christmas!
Home definitely makes this list because it's my favorite place in the world. We don't have a huge house, we don't have a fancy house, but we LOVE it. I will be perfectly happy if we live here for the rest of our lives.
6. Hawaii
"Our" hotel.
We have not made it there yet but we will get there! We better get there. I have a fabulous itinerary saved on my computer. I spent so much time planning this trip, I actually feel like I went on it already! Isn't that weird?
Tell me six places you have been or six places you want to go!
Does your home make the list?
1. New Orleans- I went there once when I was 10 and again when I was 16. I had so much fun! It's the reason why I play the saxophone! Hubby and I are planning a trip there next spring!
ReplyDelete2.) Chicago! I went there when I was in high school and Hubby and I are going there for Thanksgiving this year to visit his friend from high school! I can't wait to go to all of the museums and eat our way through the town.
3.) Cape Henlopen State Park- This is our go-to place when we want to go to the beach! We love that we can set up by the fishing area and let our doggie run off leash in the waves!
4.) Alaska- We went to Anchorage/Denali in August to celebrate our 5 year anniversary and finally go on our Honeymoon! It was beautiful, peaceful, and a culturally interesting place. We hiked, went salmon fishing, drank TONS of beer, and saw amazing wildlife.
5.) The Farm- this is what we call my great grandparents 80 acre estate. It's beautiful and peaceful and these were my stomping grounds growing up. We got married there.
6.) My house- I live in a cabin in the woods. It's sometimes too small and a pain in the butt to upkeep, but I do love my house. We have an amazing view of the night sky, can free range our chickens, and do whatever without having to worry about pissing off the neighbors.
This is a great list! We also love Cape Henlopen. They have an AWESOME disc golf course that Paul will play at while I run on the trails. I was never in new Orleans, Chicago, or Alaska!
DeleteHome always makes the list--I always appreciate my home in beautiful Colorado but tend to appreciate it even more after a vacation. Truly blessed.
ReplyDelete1. Costa Rica = 40th birthday trip. Probably the best trip we have ever taken!
2. Florida Keys = loved all the keys but Key West was our favorite. Just so fun.
3. Panama = highlight of this trip was staying in a buglalow that was in the water (you could see the marine life through floor windows. Also met a couple from Colorado when we were zip lining! What are the odds. Feel so happy we took away friendship from this trip--and they only live an hour away!
4. Mexico = Cancun, Playa del Carmen, Tulum and Puerto Vallarta (6 trips total). I love the people of Mexico. They are so inviting and helpful and happy. Plus, the food is my favorite. We never have a bad time in Mexico & will continue to go back again and again (I go for yoga retreat in February)
5. San Juan Islands = Rick grew up in Oregon and had biked the islands when he was in high school. We spent a week up there. So cute and quaint and we got to see orca whales!! That was fabulous.
6. Victoria BC = only a one day stop when we were on our cruise to Alaska. Gotta go back. Loved this city.
Wow I didn't know you were such a world traveler! I have friends that live in Key West and they say they live in paradise. That bungalow in Panama sounds so cool. That's the way to do it, right!? I had to google the San Juan islands. There are just so many places to see in the world, I wish I could see them all!
DeleteAww so sweet that you included your home in the list! I've been to too many places to count, but my favourites would have to be Ibiza, Paris, Berlin, Montenegro, Sydney and Hawaii of course :)
ReplyDeleteThat is awesome that you have been able to travel so many places. :)
DeleteI love that home is on your list, it's most definitely on my list too. As much as I love being on vacation, I always breath a huge sigh of happiness and relief when we get home. I might feel differently if I had a private jet and could comfortably bring Cecil on vacation with me! :)
ReplyDeleteMe too! I am always so happy to come home, even if vacation was fun. I am sure it has a lot to do with the kitties of course. :)
DeleteHome is always on my list as well. I love, love, love to travel, but there's just something about coming home that feels really good. It's interesting to think about the concept of "home." I'm not sure if it's the house so much as the people that make me think of home.
ReplyDeleteI know for me home is where the kitties are. :)
DeleteHome is one if our favorites too! We are also planning a Hawaii trip, i'd love to see what you have on your itinerary.
ReplyDeleteWhere is falling water?
The itinerary is entirely on The Big Island. Are you still interested? I have a very detailed word document with addresses and everything!
DeleteOh and Fallingwater is in the Laurel Highlands- South Western PA
DeleteI love our home, too - I used to feel restless if I spent too much time at home when I was young but now I love being home!!
ReplyDeleteHawaii is my all-time favorite place to go - we are fortunate because we have been able to fly Space-A on the tanker (free) several times.
That is awesome that you have been to Hawaii a couple times. :) We had a trip planned for this past summer but had to cancel because they scheduled Paul's surgery... which they ended up pushing back anyway. WORST THING EVER!
DeleteI don't even know what Idaho looks like! I kind of pictured it as kind of flat and cornfieldy?
ReplyDelete1. Home - nothing beats sleeping in my own bed.
ReplyDelete2. My parents' house - I always love how going there makes me feel safe.
3. Edinburgh, Scotland - after living there in winter 2007 it has become more home an the US!
4. Italy - I don't know of a more beautiful country
I can't think of 2 more! Isn't that sad?!
No, because your other 4 were really good! I love my Parent's house too- I should have included that as it was the house I grew up in for 18 years!!!!
DeleteGONE GIRL? YES! I saw no peen. Check out my wrap up ;)
ReplyDeleteI loved this post! Home is definitely a great place to be. I love traveling but coming back home makes me love my home that much more! :)
ReplyDeleteme too :)
DeleteWhich Hawaiian Island is at the top of your list? Do you have a trip scheduled or is the itinerary saved for when you are ready to book the trip? I LOVE Hawaii and can't wait to go back!
ReplyDeleteWell, we had our whole trip booked and paid for this past summer but had to cancel it due to my husband's health issues. But I saved all of the information of everything we had planned to do. We were going to spend 9 days on The Big Island. 5 nights in the Waikoloa area and 3 nights in the Hilo area.
