Happy Monday!
I hope you had a great weekend.
Here's what we were up to...
I woke up with a sore throat and no voice. This has to stop happening to me on Fridays! I didn't feel great while I was lifting at home, but I got through it. I was basically just lethargic.
School was a little hectic. There was an early dismissal, and there were people in my room all morning fixing my Smartboard and my door. I'm not complaining, I am glad those things were being fixed, but it just makes the kids whacky when there are workers in the classroom.
When the students were dismissed, I worked on my DSSD and my SLO. I could tell you what those things are but you'd fall asleep from boredom! Let's just say I'm relieved I got the preliminary steps done.
After work I watched The View with Jelly. Then I turned on one of his favorite Youtube videos of birds and squirrels!
Friday evening was spent on the couch with Paul watching Adventures in Baby-Sitting and a couple episodes of Master of None. I went to bed pretty early.
It was so wonderful to sleep in until 9:00am! Chrissy slept with me and so did Jelly, but he's not pictured because he's always done at my feet.
Unfortunately I didn't feel great at all. My sore throat and no voice from the day before wasn't just fatigue from talking all week. I was sick. Today I had a runny nose, headache, and was just plain tired.
However, I was very productive in my morning and cleaned the whole house. It feels so good when the house is clean.
Then I took Paul to the gym and I ran at Hampden Park. I was not looking forward to the run due to being sick. It was very warm out, so that helped. There was some kind of soccer tournament at the park so the 1.1 mile loop had tons and tons of people blocking it. But I didn't have my Garmin with me (still can't find it) so I just sucked it up and ran the loop 4 times, then ran back to the gym.
Paul and I had a fun afternoon/evening planned, and we weren't going to let the fact that I felt crappy ruin it. After showers and food at home, we headed down to the town of Gettysburg to walk around and do wine tastings. We live about 40 minutes from Gettysburg but literally never go there!
We parked near Reids Winery, so that's where we went first. It was $5 for five tastings. The pours were ample so we basically ended up with a full glass of wine here. It felt a little rushed. I would've rather taken my time tasting. I actually did not like any of the wines at Reids! Paul didn't either. Looks like we won't be going back there.
Then we walked to Buddy Boy Winery. It was a little hard to find. We were skeptical about this place because we actually didn't hear very good reviews about it. But guess what? We loved Buddy Boy and ended up buying a bottled of A Grand Sonny Day. Tastings here were 5 for free. They were small samples, but I was glad because we were trying to pace ourselves.
Next, we had a bout a 15 minute walk to get to the next place, Knob Hall Winery. The actual vineyard is in Maryland. This was a very fancy place and the bottles were expensive. Some of the ones we tried were $38 a bottle! It was $5 for six tastings, so the tasting part wasn't pricey. I wasn't a huge fan of these wines. Paul really liked the one and I told him to get a bottle but he didn't.
By now we were right in the downtown area of Gettysburg and the place was bustling! It was so warm- in the 80s- so everyone was out and about. Lots of tourists and families. Made me happy not to be a tourist and not to have a family!
Nearby was Adams County Winery. This was one of the wineries we went to with Bob and Rachel a couple weeks ago. We love their wines! We did 3 tastings for free and then bought two bottles- Rusty's Red and 3 Ships to the Wind.
I was about done, but Paul wanted a Cider. So we went to Hauser's Estate Winery, right on the square. Paul ended up getting a beer and I did a tasting. I think it was 5 for $5... please forgive me. By now were were at our 5th stop and I was feeling good. This was another winery we visited with Bob and Rachel. My favorite thing I tasted was the same thing I got a glass of when we were at the winery- Grapeshot White.
By now, we were STARVING! We just wanted some good old fashioned pizza, so that's what we did. We walked about a half mile to Antica Napoli and had half a sub and shared a buffalo pizza. We are the whole thing because I'm a big girl and Paul's a big boy!
Then we had to try to find our car. How did I keep track of where I parked before I had Googlemaps? The only thing I can think of is that I was better at writing down or making note of it before I had a smart phone to rely on!
On the way to the car we passed a lot of ghost tours getting started and some live music. What a cute, bustling town Gettysburg is!
All in all, we had a great time! Our favorite wineries were Buddy Boy and Adams County. And we walked about two miles total, so that had to have burned off a glass of wine or two!
I still felt sick when I woke up, but I had to suck it up because we were taking my nieces and nephew to East Pennsboro Pumpkinfest.
The kiddos had a great time! They got their faces painted, did the petting zoo, ate pizza, played bean bag toss, and even rode horses!
A good time was had by all!
When I got home I just lounged around and worked on a puzzle. I was sad and feeling crappy still. Luckily tomorrow I go to a music conference, which means I won't have to sing and talk all day. I'll just have to sit and listen. I can do that.
Have you ever been to Gettysburg?
Have you seen Adventures in Baby-Sitting?
Do your fur babies watch Youtube?

What a fun weekend! I stinkin LOVED adventurers in babysitting!
ReplyDeleteIt's such a great movie! It was so fun to watch and Paul was seeing it for the first time! He liked it a lot.
DeleteThose pictures of the kids! OMG, the best. Sorry you are not feeling great. Take care of yourself, girl.
ReplyDeleteI think the kids are ADORABLE too but of course I am partial! Funny story, a lady came over to give us napkins for Clark hahahahahahahah! I didn't ask for them, I just figured I'd let him get as messy as he wanted and then when he was done I'd wipe him off. :)
DeleteThat is like someone offering you a breath mint...and you didn't ask for one. You are like "uh, are they trying to tell me something?"
DeleteYou and Paul always manage to do so much on the weekends. Adam and I never do anything! I want to do more things but when the mid-end of the week comes around and we talk about what we should do both of us are so mentally tired we just want to stay home.
ReplyDeleteI think it helps that on Friday night I normally just come home and CRASH. As long as I can do that and then sleep in until like 9 or so on Saturday, I am good to go. We are trying! We want to make ourselves do things. I'm sure in the winter we will stay home more, but there are a lot of fun "fall" things going on now.
DeleteI hope you are feeling better today!
ReplyDeleteLook at all the wine tastings you are doing!! You are really dedicated to the wine tastings right now, enjoy!
The kids look like they had so much fun!
I'm okay, just tired. I hate being sick. Should I be proud about out commitment to wine??? hehe. :) The kids had a BLAST!! But honestly, they are easily amused.
DeleteI actually looked at Gettysburg on my college tour. Did not end up going there, but I thought the town was cute. I don't remember seeing any wineries, but it was in 2002 when I was 17.
ReplyDeleteHope you feel better!
Maybe wineries are a bigger thing now, who knows??
