MGR's Weekend Wrap Up!

Hey All! I hope you had an awesome weekend. Two weeks from now we will have just celebrated Christmas! How crazy is that? But let's not get ahead of ourselves. Here's what we were up to this weekend.

I woke up wondering what day it was. I thought it might be Saturday, which would have been awesome. I quickly realize it was Friday... still good news.

My morning run was bitter cold and I had to put pants and a hat on after a mile of feeling like I was getting stabbed in the legs. The rest of my run was better but I was so tired from being sick all week.

I will be honest, I am absolutely out of patience at work. I have to say "Please be quiet," about five times- and the last time I have to act really angry for the students to listen. I long for the days in September when I could say "Please be quiet," one time in a pleasant voice and the students would listen...

Luckily, there was an early dismissal, so the students went home at 1:20. It was still the longest afternoon ever. I couldn't wait to get home.

Paul and I had a very chill evening playing cards and catching up on Colbert. I went to bed early. I also had this awesome, yummy dinner:

I know my food pictures are so good that I am thinking about offering my services to other bloggers.
Just kidding!

It was bitter, bitter cold on my morning run and I had to center myself to get out the door and feel good about it.

Then we headed up to Mifflinburg to go to Christkindl Market! The town turns a couple blocks into a little German village with amazing food, entertainment, and crafts. My mom has been a crafter there with her hats for many years, but this was our first year going up.

Things you will see driving North on 11/15 from Harrisburg...

1. Lots of adult toy stores.
2. Lots of Trump signs.
3. Lots of confederate flags.

The food was AMAZING but it was soooooooo cold!

My mom in her booth! Hats by Peach!

Besides buying food, I bought some socks made of alpaca fur and they are so warm! I'm glad I spent the money!

When we got home, we saw that Jelly had dragged his blue blanket off of our bed and into the kitchen, where he left it. He only does this when he really misses us. Sorry, Jelly! We were only gone for 5 hours!

That evening, I wrote some Christmas cards and wrapped some presents! I am still wrapping presents for my friend at work. Please don't think I just keep buying presents to wrap...

Then I got down and dirty with a puzzle!

My big plans for Sunday was driving to Pinchot Park for a trail run. Unfortunately, it started to snow and lay on the ground! I wasn't going to risk driving, so it looked like I was going to be stuck at home.

Luckily, the snow melted and I was able to run 8 miles. It wasn't even that cold out!
I'm not lying when I tell you the only thing I did for the rest of the day was blog and do puzzles. There may have been one photo session with Christmas...

Did you get snow?
Do you own anything made from alpaca fur?
Tell me something fun you did this weekend!

  1. What did you have good to eat at the christkindl market?

And yes, we always laugh at the amount of adult stores on rt 15 as we head down towards Harrisburg.

    1. I had part of Paul's pretzel, cheddar ale soup, hungarian golash... I tried some deer jerky too! Oh, and cinnamon sticks for dessert. :)

The adult stores are so creepy.

  2. I'm stuck on the irony of the combo of adult stores, Trump signs, and confederate flags. Sheesh. What a country!

We have a giant Chriskindlmarkt in Chicago and I've never been!

    1. Oh yeah, we have everything here in Central PA! Oh man, when I was googling the Christkindl Market in Mifflinburg, the Chicago one was the first that popped up!

  3. What a fun little market! I would have loved something like that--super cute. I have alpaca mittens and I love them so much. Plus, I love alpacas in general because they are ridiculously adorable. We decorated Christmas cookies and then really had the most relaxing weekend -- I even got a nap in while watching football yesterday.

    1. They are very adorable! So happy looking. I'm glad you had a relaxing weekend. What kind of cookies??? Sugar?

    2. Sugar cookies + gingerbread men! Kyle always wants to make gingerbread men but he does NOT like them so never eats any of them! It makes me laugh.

  4. We don't get snow. We do have beaches. You can make beach angels instead of snow angels.

Those alpaca fur socks look awesome! I'd be wearing them too if it were super cold and snowy here! Side note, I didn't realize you would see so many Trump signs and (especially) Confederate flags living up north? We see a lot of those things here but this is the South and we still have some people who don't realize the Civil War ended (obviously it's different to have that flag up at a historical site here, like Fort Sumter, etc).

    1. Well, I live in South Central PA, only an hour from like WV, so that gives you an idea of what kind of people live around here. Now obviously more Urban areas are not like that. Some people say that in PA you have Philly and Pittsburgh and in the middle it's Kentucky!

  5. It looks really cold there. We got a tonne of snow too, but we're not used to it so the city is doing a terrible job at snow management. Now it's going to be sunny and freeeezing so everything will turn to solid rocks of ice. Oh well. I love how Jelly has a blanky! So cute. I love your dinners! We're going to be such a good food blogger team! LOL

  6. I'm wondering if I need a couple pairs of alpaca socks. I wore my regular socks last week with our arctic blast, and my feet were cold just walking from the parking garage to work.

Miffingburg is such a cute town! How did your mom do with the sales?

are the sale tents, storage houses? That is so cool! they would be a lot warmer!

I was at my parents this weekend and the didn't get snow! it was also warmer there than here!

    1. She did awesome! She said cold weather is good for selling hats. :) Some sales are in tents but my mom rents a little shed type thing so she is a little warmer- especially since she has a heater.

I saw you were running with your bro! Lucky girl!

  8. She said cold weather is good for selling hats! :) I am not crafty either! My mom did not give me any of her craft genes. I loved your fun run snap!

  9. Eee! I love your photo session (is your cat's name Christmas?!)! I ran 16 miles on Saturday and then did absolutely nothing but lay in bed the rest of the day!

Thank you so much for your card (and the AMAZING coasters!!) as part of the Holiday Card Swap - I plan on posting very soon about it but wanted to reach out and say thank you!

    1. Yes his name is Christmas! I call him Chrissy for short. :) Wow you put some mileage in! I'm glad you were able to relax afterwards.

You are more than welcome!! I was excited to look around your blog and get to know you before I picked something out. You have seriously ignited an obsession in me that I didn't know I had- I LOVE READING STITCH FIX POSTS!! :)

  10. We got just a sprinkle of snow on Sunday morning. It didn't even stick anywhere but I saw some on our outdoor table and grill. My Sunday was SO lazy. But I did get alot of blog stuff done!

  11. Awww your mom in her booth is adorable. She seems like the sweetest mom!

Chrissy and Jelly look so content looking out the window! Cecil is adjusting to the new house okay. When he's with us he's perfectly fine, but he's not used to having a two story house. Sometimes when Adam and I are both upstairs I'll hear him start crying downstairs, and will have to call to him so he comes upstairs. Poor little boy. He is adjusting pretty well though for only being here two days so far. I think by the end of this week he'll be back to his normal self!

    1. She can be sweet AND she can be sassy but she is the BEST MOM. :)

That must be so dear to hear him crying and call him to come upstairs. Does he sleep with you guys now? Does he normally sleep with you? Any good window action at the new place?

    2. We keep his cat tree right next to the bed and he usually sleeps 95% of the night in his tree and 5% in the bed. That 5% occurs when he snuggles me to wake me up to feed him haha. The first night he slept in the bed a little bit more than usual, but the last couple of nights he's spent the majority of the time in the tree.

We live right on a park now, so there is so much good window action for him. Before the windows looked out into a courtyard where not a lot happened, but now he has so many birds, people and trees to watch! :)

  12. I'm absolutely out of patience too. My kids are incapable of listening to me right now. I think it is December-itis. They have been in school since August, and they are tired. Plus there are a lot of festivities, and I think they just want to party!

I didn't have a chance to comment on your getting out the door post the other day, but I really enjoyed it. I remember standing and crying watching the runners at the Berlin half in 2014. Every runner (every shape and size) was so healthy and strong, and it was glorious to see them use their bodies! (If that doesn't sound too weird!)

    1. No it doesn't sounds weird at all. I was glad I was able to get my thoughts out correctly on Sunday! :)

Sorry your kids are nuts too! At least I don't feel like a bad teacher because it sounds like December-itis is everywhere. HANG IN THERE :)
