WORK
So far this year, I feel like I am being a patient teacher. Patience is not one of my strong points- I fully admit that! I know that summer rejuvenated me, so I hope this "patience thing" continues because I really think that is what comes between me being a good teacher and being a GREAT teacher.
TRAINING
My workouts got a little derailed last week but I am trying to getting them back on track. On Saturday I got in a run (even thought it sucked) and on Sunday I went to Planet Fitness and felt very weak. I hope I can get back to training full force this week. However, I am glad my body got some impromptu rest days. I know rests days have only ever helped me.
FOOD
Boy have we been eating GOOD these past couple days. Our sweet friends Bree and Geoff gave us a care package full of all kinds of goodies. Jumbo bagels, turkey burgers, homemade pesto... MARGARITA SALT! Oh, and of course ice cream. With all the stress of the past week and a half, I haven't been overeating, but I definitely have been eating whatever I am craving- whether it is healthy or junk. For instance, on Labor Day, I ate a 20 pc chicken nugget from Wendy's in one sitting and then chased it with a Frosty. (That doesn't count as overeating because it was the first I had eaten in two days!!!!)
JOAN RIVERS
I usually don't get emotional about celebrity deaths, but I was really sad when I heard Joan Rivers passed away. Fashion Police is a show I DVR and she always made my mouth DROP with her mostly inappropriate jokes. I know she was 81, but I really wasn't expecting her to go anywhere anytime soon. She was definitely one of a kind and the world is less funny without her in it.
This is the twisted type of thing I love about Joan!
Remember how I had a diet soda problem this summer? Well, I am proud to say that ever since this post, I have not touched a DROP of it. And guess what has been in our fridge for the past two weeks? A couple 2 liter bottles of diet soda! Paul wanted them for some reason, but I haven't had any. Go me! The longer I go without it, the easier it is. I still get my sugar fix with diluted apple juice or diluted Gatorade. (Please don't think I'm against sugar. I'm against fake sugar.)
FAMILY
And last but not least, some exciting news... I am an aunt (again!). My sister-in-law and brother welcomed another baby into the world on Thursday. Her name is Clementine Lucy Michael. Isn't that a gorgeous name? I have had "Oh My Darlin' Clementine" in my head ever since I learned her name! She has the longest little legs and the cutest little feet. We went to visit her yesterday...
Do you know any Clementines? I have been teaching for ten years and I have never come across a Clementine!
Tell me something that is going on in your world right now!
What are you addicted to? Did you ever try to give it up?
What a precious little girl! Such a cute name, too.
ReplyDeleteI'm in love with the name! She is a very sweet little girl. :)
DeleteWay to kick that diet coke habit! I gave up soda a couple years ago and haven't looked back. I'm all about the unsweet iced tea these days. It's more refreshing and makes me burp less :)
ReplyDeleteCongrats on the birth of your niece!!
Haha soda makes me burp too. I'm sure I'll fall off the wagon again buuuuuut I hope not.
DeleteI used to be the same way with Diet Coke (years ago) - one day I decided to cut down to 1 a day which I did for years. About 3 years ago I dropped that and now I just have one occasionally (usually about every 2-3 weeks) - I started buying the baby ones because after a couple sips I'm done.
ReplyDeleteI agree - very sad about Joan Rivers.
Love the baby name -first one I've heard of, too!
I would definitely not be opposed to me having a diet coke once in awhile, but my personal problem is there is no middle ground. I have found that once I start drinking it, I don't stop. If I had control over the matter, I would love to have one as a treat now and then.
Deleteomg 58,000 students!!!!!!!!!! I will tell my SIL about that. :)
ReplyDeleteI had a gift certificate for a 1 day juice cleanse which I tried yesterday but could not finish. So I think I'm just addicted to food in general. :) They were so gross too. I could not get half of them down. belch! Clementine was the first song I learned on ukulele. I love how some old traditional names are coming back in stye instead of these hipster white people make up names. :) I have a friend who just named her kid Echo Luna. Ugh!
ReplyDeleteI bet that song sounds so lovely on the uke! Everything sounds lovely on the uke. :) Echo Luna???? Ewwwwwwww. Funny story, apparently my bro and sil heard the name on some zombie video game and liked it hahaha.
DeleteShe is such a cutie! Adorable name!
ReplyDeleteI get a headache whenever I have a diet coke. I like ice tea--I mix peppermint tea and green tea in the summer--refreshing!
I am in the eating everything under the sun stage of marathon training. I had ice cream at 10 in the morning on Saturday. That could be the beginning of a serious problem!!
Oh my gosh what a great stage though! Enjoy that fuel, you are earning it. :)
DeleteClementine is the cutest name ever! My 2 month old niece is named Penelope but I call her Pineapple, they would go perfectly together!
ReplyDeletePINEAPPLE! What a cute nickname I love it. :)
DeleteYou are so disciplined! I would have downed those diet cokes after a good long run...lol. Congrats on the new little one in the family...so sweet!
ReplyDeleteIt IS tough when it is in the house house. Luckily he doesn't normally ask me to buy it.
DeleteClementine is one of my favorite names! If I ever had kids...in some alternate universe...I'd have a Clementine and a Penelope.
ReplyDeleteI was sad about Joan too. She was so damn funny!
I'm glad I'm not the only impatient teacher. I think my sarcasm and snappy attitude is what makes the kids like me, though! lol
I bet that is one of the reasons they like you. :) I joke all day long even if the kids don't get my jokes. I need to keep myself sane!
