Do you believe in ghosts?

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

A couple weeks ago, Paul and I watched one of the Paranormal Activity movies. Even though I do not believe in ghosts, those movies scare the crap out of me! Ghost/supernatural movies are actually my favorite type because they can be scary without blood, gore, and violence.

Since I don't believe in ghosts, you would think I'd be able to watch those movies, be delightfully scared, and then go to bed that night and sleep peacefully without worrying about a ghost visiting me in the night, right?

WRONG!!! I am afraid of a ghost coming into my room EVEN THOUGH I DON'T BELIEVE IN THEM!!! Crazy, right? Is it sort of like how I'm deathly afraid of flying even though rationally I know it's a very safe way to travel? Maybe.
I know a lot of people believe in ghosts and I like listening to their stories. But my brain is always working and coming up with a more logical explanation than "It must have been a ghost". I did some research online, and it says about 50% of people do believe in ghosts! I feel like that's a lot of people!
Do you believe in ghosts? Why or why not?

And if you have seen a ghost or experienced ghostly activity... tell me your story in the comments!

Weekly Workouts!

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Heyoooo!

I ran a lot this week. 6 days. And I'm running a half marathon this morning! You know what that means, right? Less running next week for sure!

My shoulder continues to feel better. I am going to lift "light" weights this coming week again, just to be safe.

Saturday- 8 neighborhood miles. I don't know why I randomly decided to do 8 but it felt great!

Sunday- Lifting upper body @ home. I was supposed to run trail in the morning with a friend, but I bailed because I got terrible sleep. I wasn't sure what I wanted to do or even if I wanted to workout. I was sort of in a funk. No sleep can do that to you. I eventually decided to lift upper body and I was glad I did. I finally incorporated pull ups back into my workout and my shoulder felt great. Sometimes my shoulder feels weird on shoulder press if I don't have the right form. And my 4th and 5th fingers go numb when I do row. Other than that... I have felt fine doing light weights.

Monday- 6 warm morning miles. No sleep again? No problem. I'm freaking running. The good part about waking up at 1:17am was that I had plenty of time to make a hardy breakfast.

Tuesday- 6 morning miles. I had some great podcasts to listen to. As soon as I stepped outside, I could just feel the snow in the air. It wasn't actually snowing, but I could tell it was going to.

Wednesday- 6 miles miles in several inches of snow. Boy did we get a lot of snow Tuesday evening and all day Wednesday. For some reason, I felt adventurous and I went out for a snowy run. It was quite difficult because I opted to run through the areas that were not plowed so I wouldn't slip. I also did two rounds of snow shoveling and made a snowman, which I am counting as part of my workout.

Thursday- 6 morning miles. Two hour delay day! It was quite icy in my neighborhood this morning- a lot more slippy than yesterday when I was running through several inches of snow. I ran over to a neighborhood I know is always clear and ran loops. By the time I got back to my hood, the sun had melted a lot of the ice and the roads were in much better condition. I did have to make some yellow snow though...

Friday- 6 morning miles. Slowwwww. That was the theme of this week.

How were your workouts this week?
Do you like running in snow? (As long as it's not slippy.)

Friday 5 - What I wore to work this week!

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Hey all! I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0!

Today, I'm going to share what I wore to work this week.

I feel like I have been dressing a little frumpy at work ever since we came back from winter break. Boots, leggings, and baggy sweaters or tunics. Or a baggy dress. This week, I was determined to mix it up.

MONDAY

Black dress pants/leggings
Black shimmery sleeveless tank under a striped jersey blazer.
The blazer is stretchy so very comfy.

My favorite gold necklaces to layer.

I haven't worn my oxfords at all yet this year!

The usual gold bracelets.

The usual gold rings.

Gold triangle studs.

TUESDAY

Black tank, grey leggings, white/grey cardigan.
SUPER COMFY.

Look at the cool detailing on the leggings.

My feet are going to be so comfy today!

Rocking my feminist jewelry!

Little silver studs.

WEDNEDAY

Snow Day!
This is what I wore:

THURSDAY

First of all, here is my awesome zebra jacket
I got at Good Will for $5 in college!

Just a black knit long sleeve
with light pink leggings and my black boots.
Exactly what I wasn't supposed to wear this week!

Trying to dress it up a bit with the jewelry.

Hand me down Avon rings from my mom.

I love the buckles and zipper on these boots!
Ross for $40, I believe!

FRIDAY

I took these pictures Thursday afternoon. I was DREADING putting on my Friday outfit and taking pictures, but anything for you, dear reader!
0d me down Banana Republic!

Stud earrings, and a better shot of the pattern on my shirt.

I know these heels look HUGE but there is a platform in the front of the shoe. You can sort of tell by the shading.

Normal gold jewelry.

Okay, I'm not going to lie... I don't really like this outfit. I think the shoes look weird, but I don't have any other shoes that would look better. The pencil skirt fits me, and I think it looks nice, but it is not super comfortable. I love being comfortable at work.

So... I may not actually wear this outfit on Friday. We will see

HAPPY FRIDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!
What's your favorite look this week?

Which one of these looks are you most likely to wear or is most similar to your style?

What kind of shoes do you think would look better with the pencil skirt?

Oldies But Goodies

Recently, Meranda @ Fairytales and Fitness posted with some links to some older blog posts. She and her sister Lacey have been writing their blog for years, so she wanted to share some older posts not everyone may have seen.

I thought that was an awesome idea, so I thought I would do the same thing. Thanks for the idea, Meranda!

With nearly five years of posts to choose from, it was hard to narrow down what to share with you today! I tried to keep it to posts from my first three years of blogging.

Here are some oldies but goodies!

The worst thing about being a teacher.

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Over the past couple of weeks, I have finally figured out what the worst thing about being a teacher is.

The worst thing about being a teacher is that every single word that comes out of your mouth matters.

Not only that, but in a class of 20-25 kids, something you say might be the exact right thing for one child, but the absolutely most awful thing to say to another child.

Students come from all different backgrounds. They have their own strengths and weaknesses. They have their own traumas.

I want to say the right thing all the time. I know that is impossible, and that's what sucks. I will never, ever be a perfect teacher, no matter how hard I work at it, because it's simply impossible.

It's really freaking hard.
What's the worst thing about your job?
Teachers, can you relate to this thought?

The search for running tights...

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I currently have 3 pairs of pants
to choose from when I run:

1. My Reebok running tights. These are thick and warm. I bought them about 10 years ago. They were $50 and that was a lot of money to me back then. However, they have held up well. I wear them almost every day in the winter. They are perfect for 15-40 degrees.

2. These thin C9 (Target) running tights. They are useless. Not only are they uncomfortable, but they are so thin that I may as well be wearing shorts. I don't know why I still have these. I wear them like three times a year, and every time I wear them, I am reminded of how bad they suck.

3. My lined Adidas swoosh pants. These were hand me downs I was given in college. A friend of mine was a cheerleader and these were the swoosh pants they would wear to football games when it was cold out. I wear these pants over my Reebok tights when it is below 15 degrees. They are not fashionable and I feel like I have on an extra 10lbs when I wear them, but they are warm.

This winter, it finally dawned on me that I should invest in a couple more pairs of warm running tights. If I could go back in time and buy 3 more pairs of the Reebok tights, I most certainly would.

The first place I headed in my search for tights was Dick's. I was severely disappointed. They didn't have a huge selection of pants, and the ones they did have were very thin. I did find a couple thick, lined pairs that were reasonably priced ($30) but when I got them into the dressing room, I discovered there was mesh on the calves. Why would they put mesh on THICK, LINED running tights? Clearly whoever wants tights like these wants to be warm, right?

Even though I personally thought the tights were ugly, I would have bought 3 pair since they were so comfy and warm... besides the mesh.

Here's another example of the type of mesh the pants at Dick's had:

Many friends recommended stores like TJ Maxx and Marshall's. I tried both places. I thought I hit the jackpot with a black pair, but when I got them into the dressing room, I realized I had been tricked...

FREAKING MESH!!!

Here are two ugly pairs that were warm but they were not comfortable. I simply have to be comfortable when I run. I don't care if my clothes are ugly or I don't match, but I have to be comfortable.

Lisa @ Tech Chick Adventures sent me a link to a simlar pair of fleece lined Athleta tights she wears. I normally don't buy clothes online because I have to try them on, but since there were free returns, I bought two pairs.

On Monday morning, when my tights still hadn't arrived, I checked the package tracking online. It said they had been delivered on Saturday and were in my mailbox! I guess we didn't check the mail over the weekend. I wanted to go right outside and get the pants, but I didn't want to wake Paul up with the front door. (I got up super early... no sleep for this chicky.) I could have gone out the side door, but I was too afraid. It was like 3:30am!

When Paul got up to go to the bathroom around 4:30, I went out the front door to get the package. When I got the tights out, I was impressed with how thick they were. Maybe fleece lined it the way to go!?

I tried them on, and unfortunately I had the same problem I usually have with pants. I got a medium, which was the perfect size for my thighs and butt, but there was some excess material around my waist which made the pants sag at the crotch. My butt/thighs need a medium but my waist needs a small.

Sigh.

So I will be returning the pants. But holy hell they were WARM. Now I know that I need to be looking for fleece lined pants!

If you have any ideas for me, leave them in comments!
