5 Year Anniversary!

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Five years ago, I married my best friend. I was so lucky to meet him at the age of 23 and marry him at 26. Now at 31, I can't imagine my life without him! Life is long, and I realize 5 years is not a long time. But it seems like a long time- in a good way. It's hard to remember what my life was like before Paul was in it.

Today were are going to celebrate 5 years with dinner at The Final Cut Steakhouse. A few months ago, I won a contest on Wink 104, so it's time to cash in my gift card prize! Then we'll watch the video of our wedding. We have never watched it! Can you believe it? My uncle recorded it for us, and we thought it would be fun to wait until our 1 year anniversary to watch it. But then we forgot! Then we figured we could wait until our 5 year anniversary, so tonight is the night!

I thought I'd share some pictures of our wedding. It was a warm August evening. The weather was perfect. It was a relaxed, casual, picnic type atmosphere. We got married at Hiddenbrook Farm- my aunt and uncle live there, and we were the first couple to get married on their property. What an honor! What a day! Looking at pictures really brought back the memories...

It was a family affair! Tyler directed the cars where to park.

Cakes were from BG's. Millersburg REPRESENT!

My Dad and my Grandma. I love this picture of them!

I love that people could just chill before the wedding started and
play soccer if they wanted to!

My main gals! And they always will be!

My sister-in-law, Debby provided the music.
She is an SKILLED violinist.

Dad walked me down the aisle of tiki torches!

I love my Daddio!

I like this picture because you can see my mom looking happy.

And in this one, you can see Paul's mom.

All our friends and family attended!

I think this pic is so cool because it shows the whole gathering and how relaxed it was.

Time for the vows!

Shield your eyes!

Married!

That's Paul's grandpa- Bubba!

Later that night, there was food, drinks, volleyball, and a campfire.
You can't have a campfire without S'mores!

So that's a little sneak peek at our wedding, in case you weren't in attendance! It really was a great day. I'm not a "wedding" type of gal (although I like to attend them!), so I wouldn't say this was the "best day of my life" (although it was VERY special and IMPORTANT). I think every day I get to spend with Paul is the best day of my life. Any day I wake up and Paul is beside me is a BEST DAY in my book! And there are many more BEST DAYS to come!

Happy Anniversary, Baberdoodle!!!!!

Weekend Wrap Up!

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I believe I will make my "Weekend Wrap Up" a weekly post. I know it's summer, so every day should feel like the weekend for me! Still, I will stick with the typical Friday, Saturday, Sunday re-cap...

Friday

Friday was my first day of summer break in which I was actually able to sleep in. It was great to wake up and feel well rested! I hit the gym and did my first leg workout incorporating squats with the Smith Machine. I better be sore tomorrow!

My husband and I wanted some outdoor action, so we took our bikes over to the Conewago Rail Trail and rode for awhile. I packed us a picnic lunch- Mayo Free Chicken Salad.

Then we realized we had so much fun last Friday night playing Monopoly Deal and watching The Mindy Project that we did the exact same thing this Friday night. No seriously, Monopoly Deal is a really fun card game, and Mindy Kaling is hilarious!

Saturday

Saturday I made the trek to Millersburg to spend some time with my dad for Father's Day. I went for a run and he followed me on his bike. He already rode 43 miles that morning so riding with me was simply his "cool down"!

My brother and his family also stopped in at my parent's house, so I got to see my niece.

That afternoon, my dear friend Ashley was having her baby shower. It was fun to see my childhood friend all cute and pregnant! She lives in CT so I don't see her much at all, but when we get together, it's just like old times.

Later the night, me and my husband went to the Olive Garden since we had a gift card. Man, I haven't been there in like six years! I am in carb overload at the moment, all thanks to the breadsticks! (They're probably just dumb little frozen breadsticks from Sysco that they warm up in the oven... so why are they so good???)

Sunday

Ashley and I met up bright and early Sunday morning for some Appalachian Trail hiking. Luckily, she brought her dog along to scare off the snakes! The it was off to Pinchot Park with the hubby so I could get in a run. My legs were really tired. Tomorrow may be a rest day...

That evening we visited my husband's parents for Father's Day. We hadn't been over there in awhile- it was time to catch up! Now we're watching the NBA Finals game. Hopefully the Spurs end up winning. I know nothing about sports, I just root for whoever my man is rooting for!

I hope you all had a wonderful weekend!

Happy Father's Day!

My Dad is the BEST DAD IN THE WORLD!

He's so hardcore! Now I know where I get it from!

I know a lot of kids think their dad is the best, but mine really is. I had a wonderful childhood, and that's 50% thanks to my Daddio! (The other 50% is because of my Momma, but she has to wait until Mother's Day to have my blog dedicated to her!)

Why is my dad the best, you ask? Here are just a few reasons...

1. Dad never missed a single band concert, chorus concert, voice recital, piano recital, or musical... and I was in A LOT of musicals! He even came to musicals I choreographed (that I didn't perform in!) so he could see all of my hard work.

2. Dad always made sure my brothers and I had bikes to ride. Heck, he still makes sure we have bikes to ride.

3. Dad was fun in the wintertime. He took us ice skating, sledding, skiing, made igloos with us... Even after he worked all night, he'd come home, get a few hours of sleep, and then take us outside.

4. Dad made up several fun games for us to play: "Don't Get On My Back While I'm Sleeping", "Magic Carpet Ride", "Crab Walk", and "Funny Gymnastics", just to name a few!

5. Dad always was, and still is a hard worker. He worked hard to support our family so Mom could stay home with me and my brothers.

Why are we all so tan in this photo?

6. Dad built us an AWESOME clubhouse in our backyard with a ladder and a slide. I miss that thing.

7. Dad always treats Mom like a queen.

8. Dad read to us.

1987
9. Dad took me to NYC one winter when my mom was unable to go. We went clothes shopping at Macy's and to see Cats on Broadway! He even bought me a poster that was autographed by the entire cast!

10. Dad worked the night shift, and when my brothers and I were really little, he would sometimes surprise us with donuts when he came home from work in the morning.

11. Dad made us Log for Christmas. Remember, from Ren & Stimpy?

There are a million other reasons my dad is awesome, but those are just a few. I'm so lucky to have him as a father!

Happy Father's Day, Daddio! I love you!

Weekend Wrap-up!

Last weekend was not great at all, so I needed some excitement this weekend to lift my spirits!

Friday

Friday's weather was so dreary that me and the hubby couldn't do much but stay inside and chill. We played some You Don't Know Jack on the Xbox (I always win!), and then some Monopoly Deal (Hubby kicked my butt!).  Later, we made our dinners and ate while watching some episodes of The Mindy Project. Just another wild and crazy Friday night in the lives of an old married couple!

Saturday

Christmas (my cat) apparently didn't get the message that I wanted to sleep in, so he woke me up at 6am by laying on me and licking my face until I woke up. He does love me and wanted my attention, but mostly he wanted FOOD.

Since I was up, I decided to meet my family over at Saturday's Market for some early morning flea market fun. I ended up getting an ear training book to use with my piano students. Hey, you never know what you will find at a place like that!

The rest of my day was so relaxing. I got in a really good run, lounged around, did some cleaning up, and did some grocery shopping. Later that night, friends came over for a back porch game night. I love game nights but I always eat way too many carbs. When I logged my food I realized I ate 318 grams of carbs and only 136 grams of protein. Holy cow, I better reign myself in a bit! I see some chicken breasts in my future...

Sunday

I got another good run in Sunday but was bad and went to Zumba later on in the afternoon. I don't need two workouts, but Zumba is so fun and I really felt like dancing.

That night I went to see a friend in a comedy show at Second Street Comedy Club in Harrisburg. I had to go solo since the hubby was watching the NBA Finals, but had a great time anyway!

And that's my weekend! I hope you got to do some fun things!
