I have to run 16 miles today and I am scared.

This is going to be short and sweet, guys. The title says it all.

I have to run 16 miles today and I am scared...Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

I'm scared it will be really freaking hot.

I'm scared my knee will hurt.

I'm scared I will be tired by Mile 3.

I'm scared I won't be able to finish.

I'm scared I'll get bored.

This is will be the longest run I have done in over a year. Maybe even over two years. I have already run 34 miles this week. The 16 miler will bring me to the magic number of 50 that I wanted to reach.

16 miles is the longest run done in the Hansons plan, but we do several of them. Hansons says that due to cumulative fatigue, the 16 miler is supposed to feel like the last 16 miles of the marathon, not the first 16.

16... 16... 16... 16... I AM TERRIFIED!!!!!!

I'm trying to pump myself up by saying...

"You will feel so good when you're done."

"You've run 16 miles a million times."

"This heat is no match for you."

"You don't have to run 16 miles today, you get to run 16 miles today!"

"You are tough, you got this."

"Think of all the podcasts you will get to listen to over the course of two and a half hours!!!"

Well, that's all I have to say. Just wanted to keep things real on Meg Go Run.
When was the last time you were scared of a run?
How do you pump yourself up?

  1. Good luck with your 16! You can totally do it and you'll feel really awesome once you do. That's what I think about during my tough runs, just how proud I will be after and if I don't complete it, that I will probably be grumpy for the rest of the day. Except the last few miles... I always think about pancakes.

    You've got this!

  4. I hope you are in the middle of a fantastic 16 miler!

If it makes you feel any better my long run today will be over 2 hours as well (even though it's not a 16 miler)! We've got this!
