I hate getting splashed in the face.

Me, circa 2001, in a hot tub with my cousins.
Not happy about being splashed in the face.

I was chatting with my SIL Debby the other day and for some reason I brought up the fact that I am a very honest person who cannot hide my feelings. If I am mad or annoyed, it is written all over my face. This is good and bad. Obviously, it's good because it shows I'm a genuine person. I am not fake. What you see is what you get. But it's bad because, well, sometimes it is good to just suck things up and put on a happy face.

We started laughing about an incident last summer that happened at Knobels Grove. Me, Paul, my brother Tyler and Debby all rode The Skloosh. It's like the Tidal Force at Hershey Park- a big boat that fits a lot of people and goes down one huge hill and splashes everyone on the boat and everyone watching from the bridge.

When we got on the boat, it wasn't full, but there were some younger kids in the row in front of us. They looked about 14 or 15 years old. I didn't really want to get my face wet on the ride so I purposefully covered my head when we went down the hill. I got pretty wet from the splash but my face was dry. Woot! I hate getting splashed in the face!

Check out the dick head in the first row, left hand side, black shirt.

Well as our boat was making it's way back to the spot where we would get off, a 15-ish year old boy in the row in front of me turned around and splashed a bunch of water in my face.

WHAT THE HELL???????

"Dude, that was not cool!" I told him.

He laughed.

I was SUPER FREAKING IRRITATED. What the hell was this little punk doing? Splashing a complete stranger purposefully in the face and laughing about it. I wanted to punch him right in the effing face but of course I didn't.

Here are the pictures of me and my family getting off the ride. It is the perfect example of how pissed I was and how I could not hide my irritation!

Look, Debby is all happy. No one splashed her in the face.

Telling anyone who would listen my plight.

 Okay, THERE'S my teacher face.

 Clearly enraged by the situation.

By now Paul was the only one listening to me complain. He is a good husband.
Are you good at hiding your feelings or does your face give it away?

What do you think of that little punk who freaking splashed me in the face!?

  1. This post! So on point and made me laugh so hard. Totally uncalled for and rude when kids (or adults) splash--in the face is the worst and I always tell kids to quit it when they splash me at the lake (as I am slowly getting in because it's a bit of a shock to the system). The pics, though...love! Clearly you are pissed and it's well documented. Ha. Priceless!

    1. Glad I made you laugh this Sunday morning! :) I get into bodies of water very slowly too, UNLESS I am just super duper freaking hot and I just dive in. Those lake kids need to step off.

    2. Pretty much made my week. It's one of the funniest things I have seen and yes, I am probably easily entertained but I'll be laughing about it all day.

  2. So funny that you have all these photos to document what was clearly an annoying moment. Of course this kid was in the wrong. I suspect he would have been that same boy throwing bark to the ducks when he was younger, know what I mean?...haha

    1. LOL exactly! :) Oh I know Ali is going to get a kick out of this story. Yes, I think the photos are hilarious. I was so pissed and didn't want to shut up about the situation.

  3. I have no poker face. You see everything on my face, but sometimes they're reactions and I can't hide them.

    1. I'm the same! That's why I know I would never do well on the reality shows I love- Survivor and Big Brother.

  4. Yeah, that kid was a jerk... Did you do that specifically because he'd noticed you covering your face and not wanting it to get wet, or was it sheer coincidence?

    1. I really can't remember what motivated him. He may have noticed or heard me say something, or maybe he just did it to do it!

  6. OMG I am so mad for you! Why would you ever, ever, ever splash water into a stranger's face like this?! I mean it's just rude.

I do love how your response was documented though!

I am not good at hiding my feelings when I'm pissed off -- mostly because I don't try to hide my anger. If I'm mad for a specific reason I want everyone involved to know... it makes me feel better, hah!

    1. LOL I love how it is documented as well and thank you for being on my side and as equally disgusted as I am. :)

Hahahahaha I love your strategy to let everyone know when you are angry! :) Adam must be a very special guy! But then again when you're in a boy band I am sure it is easy for him to relieve stress through his music.

  7. WOW! I would have been just as pissed as you! Especially since I wear contacts. My teacher voice would have came out! What a punk!

I'm good at hiding my feelings but one of my colleagues can not hide her feelings and we laugh about it all the time - you know exactly how she feels by looking at her face :)

    1. Oh wow I never even thought of the contacts thing but that just goes to show how stupid teenagers can be.

  8. Are you kidding?!?! I would have reamed that kid out AND followed him to his parents and then given THEM a piece of my mind. How absolutely ridiculous that he'd splash a STRANGER in the face. What a jerk. UGH. Seriously, just thinking about this gets me fired up.

I hate getting my face wet, too. I never put my face in the water in the pool or ocean. I have super sensitive facial skin and I think I've just developed a habit of not getting my face wet because if I let it dry without following with a moisturizer, it burns and hurts REALLY badly.

    1. I knew this would piss you off!!!!

I know that burning feeling you are talking about. It happens to me sometimes when we are at the beach and I get in the water and then come back and dry off. So it's weird, if my WHOLE head is going under water, it is fine. But a spritz with some of my face wet and some not, bothers me. Plus on this Knobels trip where the kid splashed me I had makeup on and I didn't want it to get all runny. What a fucking dickhead.
