Happy Monday!
It is a Super Happy Monday for me because I have a personal day! If you are reading this before 11am, I am still sleeping!
I don't have big plans today, but I had big plans last night... I MET MY IDOL, TERRY GROSS!!!
I'll post more about that tomorrow. On with the Wrap Up!
Friday was bad for so many reasons, but also GOOD for so many reasons! I will not tell you the bad parts because you don't want to hear me complain. Plus, there is so much good to focus on...
The 3rd grade students brought me some of their Halloween candy! I may have mentioned to them that I wouldn't mind if they brought me some... and not the reject candy, the GOOD stuff.
As you can see, they delivered!
One kiddo very clearly marked a bag of candy for me!
Look at the sweet note one of the little girls attached to a Kit Kat...
I also got a present from two of my co-workers for no reason other than to brighten my day.
I laughed so hard when I opened this!
I stopped by the library on the way home from work to pick up some of my favorite books that I wanted to read again. Paul went away for the weekend, which meant I was going to have lots of time to read.
I woke up on Saturday morning with Jelly on my hip. It's the perfect way to start my day! I sincerely hope you have a little fur ball that lays on you from time to time!
It was still pretty early when I drove up to Millersburg to attempt my bad ass run. My goal was to average about a 9 minute mile... and I did it!
Running up the mountain the first time was okay. It was the second time up the mountain (via a different dirt road) that really, really, really sucked. But I did it! And I didn't walk. On the way up, I thought to myself, "Ali is running TWENTY FREAKING MILES RIGHT NOW, so you can suck it up and run up this mountain!" My IT band/general knee area felt strong until Mile 10. Around that point, it really wanted to be stretched! Here are some pictures from my run...
I wore bright yellow so the hunters would not mistake me for game.
As you can see, it was a dreary November day in PA!
The vomit inducing road up the mountain that lasts for 1.35 miles!
Lots of creeks in Central PA...
It was a great run! I felt like myself!
I love summer, but I really was enjoying the fall weather, the beautiful leaves, and the cool, crisp smell in the air. Yay for fall!
Some much needed post run stretching!
After my run, my parents and I went out for lunch. I had salmon, french fries, and cheddar ale soup.
The cheddar ale soup was so thick and pretty much tasted like cream + cheese. YUM!
Dumping some french fries into the cheddar ale soup took it to the next level!
My wonderful parents!
I stuck around my parent's house because my grandma and my brother and his family came over. It was an AWESOME day spent with family. I love them!
My niece... lil' darlin' Clementine!
My niece Ellie!
Saturday night was an "eat a cupcake right before dinner" kind of night!
I did something crazy on Sunday morning... I lifted at my house... in my PAJAMAS!
Some people go to Planet Fitness in their PJs.
At least I stay in the privacy of my own home.
Sunday was an AMAZING DAY because I got to meet my idol... TERRY GROSS!!!! The epic nature of this event calls for an entirely separate blog post with massive amounts of pictures, which hopefully will be posted tomorrow!
Until then friends, I leave you not with a cat picture (gasp!) but a funny meme I saw in Facebook this week...
THERE ARE ELECTIONS IN EVERY STATE! GO MAKE YOUR VOICE HEARD!
How was your run this weekend?
Did you get to spend any time with your family?
Teachers, did any of your students give you some of their candy stash?
OMG your Sunday outfit! Epic!
ReplyDeleteThat gift from your co-workers is hilarious! I love it!
Way to kick that mountain's ass! I'm pretty sure it deserved a cup of cheddar ale soup after you were done with it!
How is your dad feeling? I think you mentioned a while back that he had a mountain biking accident?
Oh thank you for asking about my dad! He is back to riding and being active but certain things still hurt his shoulder. He finally goes back to work in a few weeks. He had about 6 months off because he works for Amtrak as a car inspector and it is a very physical job that includes climbing around on trains!
DeleteThat soup looks amazing! I didn't know what it was at first, but it looks so creamy and lush.
ReplyDeleteI'm so jealous you are sleeping in until 11am. I could have used that this morning.
You know what I woke up at freaking 7:30am and ended up getting up! Oh well, at least I can still lounge around all day!
DeleteThe soup was so freaking good. Nice to have something warm on such a dreary day!
What an awesome run! No run for me because I am in recovery mode. I did eat LOTS of candy, does that help? Seriously, the candy is going away today...
ReplyDeleteYou deserve to be deep in recovery mode! :)
DeleteSounds like a great relaxing weekend. Good job on your run. I am not loving this weather lately. I wish it was summer again. -L
ReplyDeleteI hope you can embrace the fall soon- it IS pretty. :) I'm trying to make myself enjoy the cooler weather because it is here to stay. Plus, 3 months from now it will be like 20 degrees and I'll be like... I was complaining that it was 48????!!!
DeleteYour parents are SO adorable. I love that picture. What a beautiful run! You kicked its ass (of course)! Enjoy your day off. I hope you don't change out of that outfit all day!
ReplyDeleteLOL I did change because even though I didn't sweat (didn't turn the heat on yet so it is freezing in here) I figured it would be the right thing to do. :)
DeleteThey are my road shoes since most of the run was actually on road. I haven't had my trail shoes on in forever... I bet they have cobwebs hehe
ReplyDeleteWow - you are a beast on that mountain (2x)!!!
ReplyDeleteLove the picture of your parents!
Can't wait to hear all about your Sunday!!
Haha that cat sign is so perfect for you! Congrats on your awesome run and that cheddar ale soup looks amazing!!
