My Summer Goals... How did I do?

At the beginning of the summer I listed my summer goals...

Since Tuesday is my first official day back at work, I consider my summer OVER.

So let's see how I did on those goals...

Ding, ding, ding, we have a winner!

Well, I said I wanted to get 3 play sessions in with him a day to help him stop peeing everywhere.
This has sadly not happened. Do not misunderstand- Chrissy gets a TON of attention. We just didn't "play" as much as I had planned. However, he has stopped peeing for the most part. Except when we go away... then he let's us know who's in charge.

I'm not there yet. There is stuff I can't do without it being sore later and I don't think it's surgery related. I think it's "my left leg is fucked up" related.

Negatron. I saw some of my friends once or twice this summer, but I definitely didn't reconnect with everyone. In fact, I did very little socializing at all this summer.

Nope. I'm not any speedier now than I was at the beginning of the summer.
I could blame it on the heat, my knee, or sheer laziness.

I feel like I still have to hold back. There is what I want to do and what I can do.
Unfortunately, those two things are not lining up right now and it's frustrating.

Wow, 6 goals and I only managed 1. I told you this was the summer of NOTHING.
Did you accomplish your summer goals?

  1. Well, as I have said before, I truly believe you had a very successful summer!
I don't really create fitness goals except to be balanced and not injured.
Honestly, my main goal for summer each year: HAVE FUN. Enjoy doing things I can't do in the winter. Spend as much time outdoors as I can. Go to ball games, festivals, the outdoor pool, bike rides, picnics and swimming at the lake, eating outdoors at restaurants! Because I really do NOT enjoy winter and being stuck inside and being cold all the time, I feel like if I can jam pack my summer with fun/outdoor things, then at least I can say "I lived my summer to the fullest". My only sadness for this summer is that my last good run was at the end of May and that is when my right hip/hamstring decided to be "fucked up". So, hoping that between the cortisone injection, PT and continued TLC, I will get back to normal running before the snow comes.

    1. Your summer goals are awesome. I try to do the same thing- do as much outside as I can and just ENJOY it. It was kind of easy to do this summer because our summer wasn't super hot this year, so most days, being outside was comfortable temperature wise. BOO for fucked up body parts. I hope all your medical interventions improving things...

  2. I think just the fact that you created goals and attempted to work toward them is success in itself. You never know how things will pan out or feel once life starts moving, and whatever you didn't accomplish, you can now decide how important it is to you and if it's still worth working more on!

    1. Thanks Michele! That is a good point. Just because summer is over doesn't mean I still can't attain my goals. I definitely have some thinking to do, that is for sure. Have a great Sunday! (Runday!?)

  3. You did some awesome things not on the list:

    1. Launch your business website
    2. Sign your first client
    3. Get on a plane despite your anxiety for flying

    BIG stuff!!!

  4. I am always quite ambitious at the beginning of summer and feel very similar to how you're feeling at the end. The truth of the matter is that I think I actually enjoy resting and catching up on my quality relaxing time...lol. I think you've been quite the busy bee this summer Meg! And you've managed to blog every day still!

    1. I can't leave my readers down! I think I have realized that 6 goals is a lot to expect of myself. Maybe I should have picked 2-3.

  5. I totally agree with Kristina - you did other things that you didn't have on your goal list - that totally counts!!!
I've been working on staying in touch with friends since the start of the year and I still fail more often than not.
