I know what you're thinking... did anything good happen in 2016? Of course you can do an easy Google search and find many lists of horrible things that happened as well as many wonderful things that happened.
Here are some awesome things that happened in 2016 over here in my little corner of the world...
I ran a couple races: Last Man Standing (3rd woman overall), Capital 10 Miler (2nd AG), Movie Madness Half Marathon (2nd female overall), and the Run 4 the Sun 5k (1st female overall).
I started my 12th year teaching music at EPE.
We celebrated our 8th wedding anniversary with a short beach getaway to Cape May and Wildwood, NJ.
We vacationed in Colorado, our favorite place! (Besides our home.)
We went to Olde Tyme Christmas in Harpers Ferry, WV. I will never forget Christmas caroling there!
Paul and I traveled to NYC to see our favorite Survivor podcast LIVE. AND WE MET ROB CESTERNINO!!! This is probably the highlight of my year. Sometimes when I'm laying in bed at night, I think about how SURREAL that event was.
I STILL CAN'T FREAKING BELIEVE I MET ROB CESTERNINO!!!!!!!!!!!!
I went to my first political rally- Biden on the campaign trail for Hillary Clinton!
We were lucky to have another year with our two healthy kitties.
My nephew, Clark, was born!
As I went through my blog posts from the past year, I realized I did A LOT of puzzles! I wish I would have counted...
I am so thankful for all the wonderful experiences I had with family and friends in 2016. Not a day goes by that I don't feel thankful for how lucky and am and how thankful I am for for this life that I love so much. And I get to share it with Paul. I am so freaking lucky!

Tell me some of your highlights from 2016!
Megan - This is such an awesome post - I think being grateful makes us more optimistic. I always try to be grateful everyday for what I have.
ReplyDeleteThe biggest highlight of my year was that my special needs son got into a school that is perfect for him and it's helping him (and us) immensely.
Hope you have a wonderful holiday season! Kristen
THAT IS AWESOME!!!! I am so happy for you and your son and his teachers. Thanks for sharing that. :)
DeleteThere definitely were some good parts of 2016. I'm trying to think of it as a marathon that you went into thinking you would PR but didn't. Sucks, but there were some good miles, right?
ReplyDeleteThere were definitely some good times in my personal life, that is for sure. But for the country and the world... not so much. But I think it's important we celebrate the good because that gets me pumped to make 2017 better for EVERYONE.
DeleteWow, looks like 2016 was amazing year for you! Except for some health news with Baylee I thought 2016 was a great year for my family too. It's definitely been my best year of running in a Long Time! Here's hoping 2017 is great as well!
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you had an awesome year of running! I know getting Baylee's health news was not good at all and that you don't like to talk about it a ton. How is she liking her "stroller"? I'm not sure what to call it!
DeleteMy year could only be described as bipolar. The highs were high but the lows...so low. I try not to focus on them. Instead, I'm going to think about all the wonderful things that happened this year. Thank goodness for that!
ReplyDeleteYou did have some rough parts, Wendy! But you power through like you always do for those awesome highs! I hope there are more highs in 2017 for you. :)
DeleteI did have some good moments this year, but it was definitely one of those years. Since I'm starting 2017 in a brand new place, maybe (please?) it'll get better.
ReplyDeleteI am quite partial to Colorado, so I am confident 2017 will be awesome for you. Freaking BOULDER!!!
DeleteYou had some amazing highlights and it's so fun that you get to take us along to share! Thank you so much for that because it's a bright spot in my day. 2016 was a good year--we took amazing trips, spent quality time with each other and friends & family doing the things we love and I found out yesterday I got a promotion so that's not a bad way to end the year!
ReplyDeleteThank YOU for sharing in my joy. :)
DeleteCONGRATULATIONS ON YOUR PROMOTION!!!!!!!!!!! That is freaking awesome, Susan. A cherry on top of your already awesome year. :)
You had a pretty great year! I love hearing how thankful people are. Positivity is contagious. I'm going to focus on all the amazing things in my life too! Including YOU. xo
ReplyDeleteIt sure is contagious! And it's hard not to feel thankful and lucky these days. No matter how shitty our life is, we have it good.
DeleteThe world in general has had as sucky year, but we are fortunate to have so many other awesome things happen to us!
ReplyDeleteYou had a busy year filled with adventures!! Lots of running, traveling and family! that is what a great year looks like!
You guys do A LOT and I admire you for that. Can't wait to read your post today about State Parks. :)
DeleteYou did have some pretty great things going on this year. I'm especially happy about Paul's status. Hoping your 2017 is a good one!
ReplyDeleteIt was a pretty good year for my family, all healthy and happy, so I count my blessings there. Running wise my year kinda sucked, but hey, I did finish a marathon in 4:00:00 exactly... how many people can say that? But I did get a PR in 5K and 10K, so I count that blessing too!
I'm glad your family is healthy and happy. That's the most important thing! PRs in the 5k and 10k is icing on the cake!
DeleteWhat a great year all around! I've definitely had a good year too, but I can't tell you about it because I have to blog about it LOLOLOL!
ReplyDeleteYou did do a lot this year! Your house, your trips...
DeleteYou did have a great year! Its awesome that Paul is doing so well. You guys went on some fun trips!
ReplyDeleteWe did! I'm glad Paul and I like to do the same kinds of things! Although this summer he's going to take one for the team and visit the Lizzie Borden house with me. :)
DeleteWow, you actually had a lot of great highlights this year. Don't forget MEETING ME AND KRISTINA haha. But really, Paul's health? A new nephew? Reconnecting with your brother? Those are highlights that might make up for the true shitfest of 2016.
ReplyDeleteI wanted to add meeting you two but that as 2015!!!
DeleteKaren, I will plan THE BEST CO TRIP FOR YOU.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you had a very productive year of running and lots of fun family activities as well
ReplyDeleteIt was wonderful.
