Friday 5: Reasons to shop at Aldi

Related Posts Plugin for WordPress, Blogger...

Hey all! I am linking up with Running on Happy and Fairytales and Fitness for Friday 5 2.0!

Today, I want to tell you 5 Reasons to shop at ALDI!

(NOTE: I have had a request for Aldi shopping tips... like how to do it correctly. That is not this post. That post is coming, I promise!)

I rave about Aldi all the time. Honestly, the company should pay me as part of the advertising team because everywhere I go, I tell people about how they have to shop there!

If someone tells me they don't shop at Aldi, it's usually for one of two reasons:

Reason #1: Aldi is farther away than ______. (Insert a big name grocery store here.)

Reason #2: I can't get all my groceries at Aldi and I don't want to go to two places.

Those are valid reasons! Your time is valuable. It may be more valuable than the grocery savings you would get at Aldi.

But if Paul and I save thousands of dollars a year shopping at Aldi and it's just the two of us, think about how much you could save too! (Especially if you have kids or runners at home. I hear teenagers and runners eat a lot.)

So here we go, 5 Reasons you should shop at Aldi!

1. The SAVINGS. You really cannot beat the prices.

2. The selection. I think most people would be surprised at the wide selection of products Aldi has. They have fresh produce (including organic), gluten free products, fresh meat and seafood, spices, paper products, toiletries... everything a grocery store would have! (The only staple in our house Paul and I cannot get at Aldi is the cat food/litter. Aldi has pet products but not the brand our cats use.)

3. Aldi stands by their products with the Double Guarantee. If you're not happy with a product, Aldi will give you your money back and replace it.

4. Aldi is dedicated to reducing their environmental impact. You can read more about their commitment here.

5. Their workers are friendly and FAST. Do not panic if you get in line to pay and there are three people in front of you with carts filled to the brim. The checkout process at Aldi is designed to be quick.

Actually, no.
Janice can fire cocktail sausages at me as fast as she wants!

Some people have told me they are nervous to go to Aldi because the shopping process is a little different than "normal" grocery stores. If you need an Aldi sherpa for your first trip, I'm available this summer! I will teach you all the tricks of the trade!
Where do you do the bulk of your grocery shopping?
Do you have to go to more than one store?

  1. I wish we had an Aldi near by but the closest one is in Miam.! We saw an Aldi in Germany and it made me think of you! So, Aldi is bulk shopping like Costco or Sam's Club? Or it's more like a regular grocery store but you can buy some things in bulk?

    1. It is not bulk shopping, just regular shopping. I'm glad you thought of me when you saw an Aldi. :)

  2. We do not have Aldi in our area. Is it kind of like Trader Joes?

    1. It is the same company as Trader Joes. It is cheaper but same quality.

  3. I did not realize Aldi was the same company as Trader Joes.

I do like to go to Aldi sometimes during the school year because there is one close to my school. I particular like their selection of produce. When I was making Baylee's home made food I could get a bag of organic apples for half the price (or even less) than I would pay at Weis.

On the other hand, Weis is much closer to my home so I shop there too. I am not intimidated at all by going to Aldi, but I will admit that their cashiers make me nervous at how fast they go. I feel all flustered when it is time to get by bags in order and pay!

Actually I wanted to tell you that I bought a box of Roasted pepper Quinoa at Aldi a few weeks ago. I got home to make it and the flavoring pouch was empty!

    1. That's crazy! You should return it for the double guarantee!

  4. My sister is a huge Aldi fan as well. Every time I've ever shopped there, there are at least 10 people in line ahead of me. Drives me nutso.

    1. At my Aldi they usually open up a new line if there is that many people. The one thing about my Aldi though is that it is always busy. One day I went at an odd time on purpose, hoping for it to be more chill. Nope. They are opening one a couple miles from here so maybe my Aldi will be less crowded when that one opens.

  5. We don't have Aldi where I live (Botswana) but one thing that resonates with me from this post is the fast checkout process! I get so impatient in line so that is something that I measure stores by!

    1. Same! The Weis store by me is sooooo slow. Like there could be two people in front of you with just baskets and it could take 10 min. 5 huge carts at Aldi in front of you? 5 min.

  6. We just got an Aldi in our area and the prices on everything is great except meat. I find they are actually more expensive for that

    1. Nice! We only buy chicken breast so I haven't really paid attention to the meat prices.

  7. The nearest Aldi is not as close to other stores for me. And yes, I shop at about 3 different stores & I'm ok with that.:)

For more quality is more important than price (probably the opposite for my husband; good thing I do the shopping!). Luckily I can afford to spend $$ on food but of course I'm also always looking for a bargain.

    1. Aldi definitely has great quality, it is just not the "name brands". Aldi has it's own brands.

  8. I had an Aldi close to me in Texas, but not here in CO. I haven't seen one at all. Aldi was hit or miss for me. Since it was easy to stop at on my way home, I would go there if I needed something that evening.

  9. I'm probably the only person in the whole world who hasn't been to Aldi. They only have store brands of products, right?

  10. No Aldi in my area, but I have heard great things about them.

  11. I love going to Aldi and the roasted red pepper hummus is my favorite, but it's about a 25 minute drive for me so I don't get there too often. I always stop in when I'm on that side of town, though. I like the special buys aisles and the O'Donnell's wine too!

    1. Freaking PA is weird about alcohol so no wine at Aldi. In my dreams, right?

We always get the roasted red pepper hummus!!!!

  12. I love Aldi!! During the school year, for convenience, I split my time between Aldi and Giant. I love the “finds” they have around the holidays. I got some really fancy cheeses around Christmas time and wasn’t disappointed. Much cheaper than Giant! Their selection is great except for the personal care type products, but I don’t need those on a weekly basis.

    1. Oh they have AWESOME holiday foods! I agree on personal care items, but I get those at Dollar General in bulk anyway. (They're not sold in bulk packages, I just got there at the beginning of the school year and pick up like 6 deodorants, 6 shampoos, 6 toothpastes, etc..)

  13. GAH! I wish we finally would get an Aldi here in NorCal. I know there are a few in SoCal already...
EVERYBODY shops at Aldi in Germany and they really have great prices and good stuff!
Do you have a Lidl near by, too?

    1. I have never heard of Lidl! Gonna googlemap it...

Closest is 2.5 hours away in NJ :)

    2. Check it out when you get a chance. It's basically the other German discount supermarket that does really well, but I still prefer Aldi ;)

  14. After I originally commented I clicked the -Notify me when new comments are added- checkbox and now each time a remark is added I get 4 emails with the same comment. Is there any approach you can take away me from that service? Thanks! mgm online casino
