This is one of those random surveys I found on Facebook! I hope your week started off well!
Tattoos- ZERO. I’m not really a “never say never” person, but I really think in this case it is safe to say I will never get a tattoo. I simply don’t trust myself to choose a tattoo that I would like for the rest of my life. I have a pretty epic scar from the second time Chrissy bit me, and I brag that now I don’t need a tattoo because my undying love for my cats is already permanently encapsulated on m body!
Piercings- 4. I got my ears pierced around second grade. I got my cartilage pierced in eighth grade but eventually my ear started growing OVER the earring! My dad had to rip my earring out with pliers- not kidding! That’s what happens when you get your ears pierced at the mall. About 5 years ago, I got my cartilage pierced again at an actual piercing establishment and I have never had any problems with it. When I was 22 I got my navel pierced and I am going to rock that as long as possible!
Marriages- 1. 8 years and counting!
Divorces- 0
Pregnancies- 0. I'm child free and I love it!
Surgeries- 1. I had a plica removed from my knee a couple years ago. I wish I hadn’t done it. I don’t think the plica was actually what was causing me trouble, and I don’t want to talk about this in more detail because it makes me so angry!
Been to jail- No, but I have visited people in jail.
Shot a gun- No, and I hope I never have to!
Quit a job- I quit a job as a waitress when I was 16. I could not handle it!
Flown on a plane- Yes, and I hate it so much!
Hit a deer- No, thank goodness!
Gone zip lining- No, and at this point, I have no desire to!
Skipped school- I skipped some classes in college but I never skipped school in high school or anything like that.
Watched someone give birth- No.
Watched someone die- No.
Been in Canada- Yes, about 10 years ago. Paul and I were in Buffalo for the weekend to see a game. We drove across the border (this was back before you needed a passport) and saw Niagara Falls. We also went up a tall building to look over the falls. I forget what the building was called. We were only in Canada for a couple hours... and that is the only time I ever left the country!
Rode in an ambulance- Yes, when I was 14 I fell off my bike and got knocked unconscious! There was a 70th birthday party for my Grandpa going on at our house. The party was wrapping up and I had to return some videos to the video store. It was only a couple blocks away so I rode my bike there. As I was slowing down in front of the store, I remember losing my balance and tipping over. It was sooooo dumb! The last thing I thought before I blacked out was, "Oh my gosh, I'm going to look so stupid..." When I woke up, there were people crowded all around me. I heard someone say, "Who is her mother?" I tried to say my mom's name but it was hard to talk. They asked me to lift my legs and I lifted them straight up in the air. I wanted to prove I wasn't paralyzed! They took my to the hospital and besides a cut on the back of my head I was fine. **Note: This was back before people wore helmets!!!**
Been downhill skiing- Yes, I skied a lot in high school! I was pretty good at it. I have not skied since college, and now that I'm a runner, I probably won't ever ski again. I could totally see myself getting hurt!
Rode on a motorcycle- Yes, I rode on the back of my uncle's Harley once. I liked it when we were going slow but not when we were going fast. Never again!
Rode a horse- I know I rode a horse on our 5th grade field trip to Camp Hebron and I swear my parents took me riding once as a child. A really wanted to ride horse when I was a kid.
Stayed in a hospital- Yes, lots of times with Paul!
Donated blood- Yes, I donated in high school and college. I actually haven't donated since college and I am ashamed of that. I really hate needles and the last time I gave blood I almost passed out. It was not a fun experience. Still, it is something I should do.
Rode in the back of a police car- No.
Done charity work- I can't think of anything, but I am sure I have!? We donate money to charities.
Picked up a hitchhiker- NO!!!!!
Rode on a train- Yes, it's a great way to travel! Oh, and my dad works for Amtrak! We are taking it to NYC soon. I'm excited to sit back, relax, and not worry about driving!
Camped in a tent- I'm sure you have already guessed that I'm not much of a camper! We camped as a family growing up, which I think I liked. I went the summer before college with friends. And that is the last time I camped!
Danced in the rain- Yes, so romantic, right!?
Went streaking- No, but I want to do this race!
Have you ever ridden in an ambulance?
Do you donate blood?
Please tell me you never picked up a hitchhiker...
Answer some of these questions for me!

I've never ridden in an ambulance or given blood. I used to weigh enough to give blood in high school (I'm 5'0" and the number to weigh is 110 so I am still at a very healthy weight not weighing enough), but was scared of needles. I got very serious anemia in 2010 so will probably never be able to give even if I gained the weight to do it. Also, not a good idea to give if you're training for a race or running.
ReplyDeleteI have also not shot a gun. Part of me wants to one day, at a target, so I can say I did it on these surveys. I'm probably the only person around here who hasn't shot a gun because this is a very pro-gun area and a lot of women have CWPs. I don't understand that but oh well.
Gotta love being child-free. Never say "child-less"... I hate being described as "child-less" because that makes it seems like having a child would bring "more" to my life and that I'm something less without a kid which is not true. Child free... the way to be...
Yeah I remember when I used to give blood I wouldn't workout on those days. I can imagine there aren't many people I SC who haven't shot a gun. I just have no desire to ever use or have one because the data is clear that a house is safer without a gun in it! I wish Americans weren't so obsessed with guns. That's one thing I disagree with Hillary on... she supports the second ammendment but wants to make it harder for criminals to get guns ad I'm over here like GET RID OF ALL THE GUNS!!! Never gonna happen, I know. Okay I better stop now because I am getting myself worked up..
DeleteI've taken a snowboarding lesson, but never skied. Once I move to CO, I could take ski lessons, but we'll see. I'm not much of a winter sport person, but Colorado people are so active.
ReplyDeleteWhen are you moving? I am in awe of snowboarders because I feel like it would be really hard to not be able to move you r feet separately like you can on skis, you know what I mean?
DeleteThe bike story is so cute. Scary though, for the time when you didn't know what was going on but I love how you stuck your feet in the air. You'd be such a good streaker! Definitely do one of those races.
ReplyDeleteI hope I have the courage to do it someday!
DeleteOh, I love the surveys! So fun to learn things about you and your readers. To answer a few: 6 piercings, yes on hitting a deer, camping, skiing, ziplining, donating blood, charity work, shooting a gun, riding on a motorcycle, horse, train, etc. In fact, the only no's I had were pregnancy/kids, watching a birth, streaking (ugh, no one wants to see that), cop car, jail, divorce and tattoo (but want to get one so that will be a yes someday.
ReplyDeleteWhere are all your piercings?? What and where will your tattoo be?
Delete5 on my ears and 1 on my belly button. Tattoo on the back of my neck, I think. Still deciding...
DeleteAwesome! I want second holes in my ears but haven't gotten around to it yet.
DeleteGotta say, I did pick up a hitchhiker once! Actually I was just a passenger, and it was dark, and we were in high school. AND the dude was scary. Not sure what the hell my driver was thinking, but thankfully nothing happened. Not a good idea at all!!
ReplyDeleteThat is freaking scary!! But we all do stupid stuff in high school. Glad you made it out of that one okay!
DeleteI feel like we need another hike so we can delve into these topics Karen! Was Kenny's mom in a hospital? The only people very close to me who died and I saw them at viewings was my Grandpa, my uncle, and a high school school friend. very strange and sad. :(
ReplyDeleteI love random question surveys!!
ReplyDeleteYour Dad works for Amtrak? Your Dad is my hero!! We love Amtrak! I saw the picture you posted of him in FB, that is awesome!
I'm sorry to hear about your knee surgery. It sounds painful.
I had my ears pierced when I was about 1 day old, but don't have any other piercings.
I used to be very judgmental of tattoos, but now I don't care about them at all.
Yes he does! I think he started when he was 19? He is a car inspector.
DeleteWow 1 day old! Is that a cultural thing?
What a fun post! I was way too concerned about you as I read about your bike accident! That must have been horrible (and PS I never wore a bike helmet as a kid either..lol).
ReplyDeleteOK, I'll just keep it simple and answer only the questions you put at the end and all of them are "no".
Haha well at leasthma you know I turned out *relatively* okay hehe. I think people our age prob didn't wear bike helmets. I think it's a law now!
Delete1. Totally stealing this survey lol
ReplyDelete2. I can picture you totally hating waitressing for some reason!! I never waitressed because I knew being fake-nice to annoying people wasn't going to make me any tips. Then I became a teacher and learned I can fake nice pretty well!
LOL! Well I did hate it but only because I wasn't trained well enough. I had no clue what I was doing but it wasn't my fault because they didn't train my properly. So I went to work every day with huge amounts of anxiety. No bueno!
DeleteOMG I can't even imagine picking up a hitchhiker! Sounds terrifying! It actually always surprises me when I see someone on the side of the road sticking their thumb out. Like, as much as I would be terrified to pick up a hitchhiker, I would be equally terrified to get in a stranger's car as a hitchhiker!
ReplyDeleteSame!!! On my way to work I see people walking like half a mile to the bus stop and when it is like 10 degrees out I really wish I could give them a ride.
