$10,000
The other day, Paul and I were bored watching commercials on CBS All Access while we binged on old seasons of Big Brother. In one of the competitions, a contestant was tempted by $10,000. She could take the money, but it meant the whole house (14 people) would have to eat only peanut butter and jelly sandwiches for a week. Spoiler Alert: She took the money!
During the commercial, I asked Paul if he would eat PB&J for a week if it meant a stranger would get $10,000. Then I started to come up with all kinds of questions with the "for $10,000" temptation.
Here's what I came up with... and my answers!
1. Would you eat only PB&J for a week if it meant a stranger would get $10,000? Yes, and obviously I would hope the money would go to someone who really needed it and not someone who was a millionaire!
2. Would you eat only PB&J for a month if it meant your BEST FRIEND got $10,000? Yes! Eating PB&J for a month would absolutely suck, but if doing it meant one of my best friends got the money, it would be worth it. I'd like to think they'd do it for me...
3. Women: Would you shave your head for $10,000? Again, YES!!!! I am sure I would not care if my head were shaved while I was VACATIONING IN HAWAII!!!! (Because that is totally what I would do with a lot of that $10,000!)
4. Women: Would you shave your head if it meant your BEST FRIEND got $10,000? Sure! As long as they knew I did it for them so I would get lots of pats on the back- hahaha!
5. What's the longest you would go without running for $10,000? I'm thinking 3 months.
6. What's the longest you would go without working out at ALL for $10,000? Ugh... 1 month????
Please answer some or all of these questions in the comments! Or steal for a blog post!
Note: To me, $10,000 is a substantial amount of money! If $10,000 isn't a lot to you, just imagine an amount that would be a good chunk of change and use that to gauge your answer to the questions!

Hm interesting questions! I actually think I agree with all of your answers. Maybe I could go a little longer than a month without working out for 10,000 but it would be really hard!
ReplyDeleteIt would be hard! I thought one month was the perfect amount of time for my body to benefit from a bit of a break. But beyond that, I couldn't see a benefit! Well, besides getting $10,000 that is!
DeleteI don't like PB&J...can I have PB? I would probably do any of them. I think I would tap out at a year of no running since I have so many other sports that I do and I would sub in walking for running. There is no way I am going longer than 2 weeks without working out. Especially weights....losing all the muscle would give me the sads big time!
ReplyDeleteSure, you can just have peanut butter. :)
DeleteWhat about two weeks and one day? ;)
I love PB&J ( I have make grilled PB&J) so I would definitely be on board with this! I may draw the line at shaving my head. I'd need a more substantial offer!
ReplyDeleteHahaha yeah I knew a lot of women wouldn't go for the head shaving thing.
DeleteI also love PB&J! Not sure it would be such a sacrifice for me. But still, it would get monotonous. That's so true about shaving your head - Hawaii would be a great way to spend some of that money. Just bring more sunscreen for your head and a few new hats :)
ReplyDeleteHAHAHA!!!! You are a genius. :)
DeleteOh wow! That is challenging to think about! I couldn't see myself eating the same food for one week. I would say No to all the PB and J questions, but yes only if the money was going to my mom.
ReplyDeleteBut I would be willing to shave my head for $10K.
That is super sweet that you would eat PB&J for your mom. :)
DeleteI'm not sure I'd do any of those. $10,000 is a good chunk of money, but I know I wouldn't do anything fun with it. I'd save some and then put the rest down on my car. It wouldn't pay it off, but it would certainly shorten the amount of time I'd be paying monthly payments.
ReplyDeleteThat would definitely be the most responsible thing to do. The most responsible thing for me to do with it would be just pay off as much of my house as possible.
DeleteI would do them all, but I'd really struggle with the head shaving thing because my hair is my security blanket. It's super emotional for me! Does that sound dumb?
ReplyDeleteNot at all. I think that would be a hard one for most women. I really don't care about my hair at all. I mean, I know I wouldn't look good with a shaved head but I could tough it out until it grew back.
DeleteI would definitely do the PB&J thing ... although I would skip the jelly on my sandwich and opt to pet Jelly instead. I don't like any type of jelly with my pb!
ReplyDeleteI don't think I would shave my head for $10,000. Being bald would probably be okay, but it would look so bizarre growing back in. I would need like ... a couple million to shave my head and that's if I got to keep the money. It sounds so rude and selfish, but I am not sure I would shave my head for a friend unless it was a life or death situation!
I think I'm with you on 3 months without running and 1 month without working out. That's like getting paid over $3,000/mo to NOT run. That's a good amount. Anything more than three months and it just didn't work financially speaking, haha.
Really, a couple million!? I feel like you would do it for less than a million, but I could be wrong! I would shave my head bald for the next 10 years if I got a million dollars!
DeleteI am down with PB&J for just about any amount of time required. I personally believe that peanut butter should be its own food group. Maybe I'm vain, but I don't know about shaving my head - that would take so long to grow back! I would have to have a really really good plan for the money. Money to not work out? We are probably lined up there with 3 months and 1 month. Man these questions got way more difficult as they went! Well done!
ReplyDeleteThanks and thanks for answering them! I don't think you are alone in not being down to shave your head. I figured that would be a hard one for most ladies!
DeleteInteresting series of questions! I think for some of these, like the head shaving, I'd do it for another person if they paid me some of the money! ;o)
ReplyDeleteAw come on, I would shave my head for you. ;)
