Today I am participating in Marcia's Runfession's link up! Be sure to visit her blog and check out some of the other bloggers who are Runfessing today!
Runfession #1: After my disappointing performance at the half marathon on Saturday, I had to purposefully decide to just LET IT GO. I wish I could naturally let it go, but instead, every time I start to feel the disappointment creep in, I say to myself, "Stop that!" Then I force myself to think about something else.
Runfession #2: I haven't been doing my normal post workout walks for a few weeks now. I was in the habit of walking one minute for each mile run after each workout. It only lasted for about 6 weeks. My plan is to start it up again when I officially start training again in May.
Runfession #3: I almost killed the women behind me when I was in line to vote on Tuesday. How is this a Runfession? Well I ran to my polling place, so that is why I get to include it! The woman was standing really close to me and chewing gum in a disgusting manner. She also kept making these noises like, "Mmmm". I had to use every fiber of my being to contain my rage. Had I been in line for anything other than voting... I would have left.
Do you have something you want to Runfess?
Do you want to kill people when they eat or chew gum around you? For me, it's like the closer you are to me in relationship, the worse it is. I have friends who I don't mind hearing chew gum, but Paul is NOT ALLOWED TO CHEW GUM!!! It's okay, he has banned me from eating apples in his vicinity. Fair is fair.

I could never make myself walk after a run. I'm in too much of a hurry to get my coffee. My mom is a gum chewer .... maybe that's why I'm not?!
ReplyDeleteCoffee is way better than walking, I can agree with you on that one. :)
DeleteI'm not a gum chewer either. I can chew it for like 2 minutes and then I'm just grossed out.
I don't chew gum and it irritates me to see or HEAR others chewing it. Thank you -- I thought I was just me! Those sucking loud pops? ARGH! (I feel better now.)
ReplyDeleteLOL no problem. The struggle is real.
DeleteLetting go is tough...but we gotta come out on the other side! I really enjoy walking after my weekly runs, I usually give myself a quarter to a half mile to cool down and relax.
ReplyDeleteYup, no reason to hold onto it any longer. I wallowed. Now I am done.
DeleteI rarely chew gum anymore. My mom used to scream at me when I did. Close talkers/standers are just nuts. I had one in line at Target the other day. I happened to glance at the stuff they sell in the aisle and realized he was almost sandwiched up against me. Creepy! That's totally a valid runfession btw. Thanks for linking!
ReplyDeleteNo problem Marcia, thanks for hosting, it is fun!
DeleteClose standers in line at places like Target make Paul so mad. He jokes to me that one day he's going to ask the close stander if they want a piggy back ride.
That's dedication to walk after your run! I'm always in too much of a hurry!! I would have grunted really loud to the woman! But some people are really just that clueless!!!
ReplyDeleteWell it was annoying at first but I started to enjoy the walking. Especially if I have a good podcast going.
DeleteMy runfession is that I enjoy my post run walk with my dog about as much as I enjoy my run! And we go about 1/2 the distance of my run! Love that time w/ Macy girl.
ReplyDeleteMacy is a lucky girl!!!
DeleteAww, you get it! I hate hearing or seeing people chew gum! I think it's disgusting and serves no purpose. It makes me think of that oral retentive theory (or something like that we learned in psychology class. I'm too lazy to look up the real name).
ReplyDeleteDo you let kids chew gum in your classroom? I have a STRICT no gum chewing rule for several reasons: 1. It's elem school so you are too young to chew gum. 2. We sing, no gum when singing. 3. It's gross. Haha!
DeleteActually, I've never noticed if kids are chewing gum or not. If they are it apparently is not a distraction!
DeleteEeewwww loud gum chewer! I hate when people stand super close to me, especially in lines. get.away.from.me !
ReplyDeleteIt is definitely a pet peeve of mine too! It is funny cause I sort of smelled from my run. I wondered why she even wanted to be that close!
DeleteWalking after running is hard! But it does help so much !
ReplyDeleteAnd on the loud chewing, my ex husband was a loud gum chewer, I think that's why we got divorced, couldn't take one more day of gum chewing! This makes me think of the Cell Block Tango "if you pop that gum one more time .... And he did... "
OMG before I even read the rest of your comment I immediately thought of the cell block tango!!! Girl we are so alike.
DeleteYou would be proud of me! I know I've told you that I find walks really boring, but I actually took one this week! It was a rest day but I just didn't feel like sitting around and doing nothing so I went for a walk on the golf course. It was really nice and exactly what I needed.
ReplyDeleteYAY! Walks can be very nice. :)
DeleteI am not a gum-chewer either...except for PlowOn gum (for energy),but that's only during a race for the first couple miles. Your post-run walking is great!
ReplyDeleteI hate when people chew loud around me too! Have you ever seen that How I met your mother episode where they all start noticing annoying things about each other that they didn't notice before? It's like once you pick up on someones loud chewing its impossible to ignore it!
ReplyDeleteI am sure I saw that episode because I saw them all, but I don't remember it. I am trying to convince Paul to watch that show with me. I think he would love it!
DeleteThat's hilarious. I'll link you up to a meme on Andrew's FB that you'll love.
ReplyDeleteYES. That meme is the truth.
DeleteThere! I just tagged you in it.
ReplyDeleteI kind of get annoyed with gum chewers too. Especially the chompers.
ReplyDeleteWe are so alike!
DeleteMatthew does not understand my disgust for people making noises while eating! He actually questioned me about it every time I make a comment. All I am thinking is "how can that not gross you out?"
ReplyDeleteI wonder if girls suffer from this more than boys?
DeleteGreat question!!!!
