Hey hey hey! I hope you are having a good weekend!
Here is what I was up to on the workout stuff...
My longest run/walk since I started run/walking!
(It's the little thing, people!)
Chest @ HOME
A very hot run/walk. This is how I broke it down:
1/4 mile walking warm up
2.25 mile run
1/4 mile walk
1 mile run
1/4 mile walking cool down
REST.
I spent the entire morning at the Hershey Bone and Joint Institute.
I was extremely tired the rest of the day and just didn't feel like doing anything.
Just to illustrate how tired I was, I'll tell you I went to bed at 7:51pm that night to the sound of Paul practicing the piano. (I am teaching him!)
MY FIRST DAY WITH A NEW LEASE ON LIFE!
I WANTED TO DO ALL THE THINGS!
I woke up at 4:30am and took my time relaxing.
Then I went for a run.
Another run. I ran in Boiling Springs while Paul fished. I tried not to look at my Garmin and just run what felt good at the time. Apparently, a 9 minute mile feels good to me right now!
My first strength training workout that included lower body in MONTHS!
I am giddy to say I did back + legs yesterday with confidence in knowing I wasn't damaging my body. As you can see, I am starting with baby steps. I did 3 exercises with 3 sets each at a low resistance level. It's humbling, but it's the smart thing to do!
What are you favorite lower body exercises?
This is so great, Megan! How are you hip and knee feeling with going back to your normal routine?! Falling asleep around 8 pm is something I do almost every single night (I'm a grandma for sure).
ReplyDeleteKnee felt fine from my runs, felt a liiiittle weird from lifting but nothing horrible. I didn't take any pain meds or use icy hot or anything. I am just trying to address it and deal with it and be CONFIDENT that there is nothing wrong and maybe I will feel less pain!? Hip is good! But sometimes if I push it it pops up again so I am not calling myself healed on that front but it is def a lot better.
DeleteAmazing! I am glad you are almost back to normal lady!!
DeleteWell I wouldn't say I'm back to normal but I'm working on it!
DeleteSo glad you are getting back to doing some of the things you want to do! I bet that doing the leg exercises with help you to get stronger and hopefully address any imbalances causing the knee and hip pain!
ReplyDeleteI hope it helps too!
DeleteSo glad you are back to running. So is Paul a good student???
ReplyDeleteI can fall asleep ANYTIME after 8pm. It's a gift. Staying asleep all night, now that is another story!
Paul is a good student but he curses A LOT :)
DeleteGreat week Meg! I'm starting to really like one legged squats lol.
ReplyDeleteI can't do those! Do you do like pistol squats?
DeleteLooks like a great week of workouts! What are you training for!
ReplyDeleteNada, just trying to get my fitness back after suffering from a knee injury that was apparently all in my mind...
DeleteOther than my ass hurting for 3 days and an "awareness" in my knee it was okay.
