I figured I may as well give you a little update on how I am doing with these goals...
Today you get a VLOG, because I feel more like talking than writing!
As you can see from the video, I have only accomplished one of my goals. But you know what? I am okay with that. I am thoroughly enjoying my summer, and that's all that matters, right!?
(Oh, I wasn't very clear on the video, but the three books I highlighted were Murder in Spokane by Mark Fuhrman, Bunny Tales by Isabella St. James, and Objection! by Nancy Grace.)
Are you accomplishing your summer goals?
Thank you for the songs--those were great. The most important thing is that you are enjoying your summer. That is what it is all about!
ReplyDeleteThey will be better in two weeks, I promise!!
DeleteThat's the thing, when I go back to work I will WANT to clean! It's like, I want what I can't have.
ReplyDeleteLooks like you are pounding out YOUR summer goals. :) The heat sucks but KAREN and QUIT don't belong in the same sentence!
Oooh, the deep clean! I need to do that!
ReplyDeleteLove the video!
Thanks Wendy :)
DeleteI told myself I was going to read more and I've only read one book so far this summer :( fail! I loved your song, your voice is so beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThank you Courtney!
DeleteIf I only I had your voice when I was playing my ukulele…my neighbors might not hate me so much. :) Clementine was the first song I learned too! I still suggest taking one class to get the basics down. I swear that changed everything for me! There is the cutest song I'm playing now called Lava. It's from a Pixar (I think) short film that plays before Inside Out. It's adorable. Your kids would love it.
ReplyDeleteOh I am embarrassed that you watched what I came up with after messing around for a couple hours! I know I need to work on strumming patterns and chord changes but that is no fun. I just like to PLAY haha. If I could make myself practice properly for just 10 minutes, then I could allow myself to mess around as much as I want after.... I am a music teacher, I should be able to discipline myself, right? :)
DeleteThanks for the tip about the song Lava! I will look it up and see if it looks like a short term goal or a long term goal.
I have a niece named Clementine so that's why I learned that song. :) And the whole "only two chord thing" :)
If you learn just four chords (C, G, Am & F) you will be able to play TONS of songs. Focus on those four. You can play I'm Yours by Jason Mraz with those four chords, which is always a popular sing a long. Use this strumming pattern: D D U U D U D D U U D U…and you can play a billion songs with that strumming pattern. Don't practice chords AND strumming patterns at the same time. Learn them separately because it's tough to do the two together. For instance practice your strumming patterns on just the C…or maybe one other chord you're very familiar with.
DeleteLet me know if I can help in any way. My chord nemesis right now is the Bb. I want to punch that chord in the face because it's so hard. And it's in a lot of songs I want to play and sing.
Here is an example of the strumming pattern I gave you and those four chords for I'm Yours. I think this was after four months of playing so you'll get there in no time! https://vimeo.com/105787029
Thank you for those tips! I used/butchered that strumming pattern when trying to learn Leaving on a Jet Plane. :) As for the b flat chord... just looked it up and I don't blame you for wanting to punch it in the face! I think my new ukulele goal is to never play a song with a b flat chord. :)
DeleteI would have to agree if I didn't love I Will Follow You Into the Dark and The House that Built Me so much. :) Here is the lava song in case you didn't know what it was. It's 3 chords (C, G7, and F) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8f4BpGbVnDk
DeleteThat is a really cute song thanks for sharing it. :) I am going to have to get good at changes those chords quickly.
DeleteI'm obsessed, please keep vlogging! This makes me so happy! :) Also please keep singing in your vlogs!
ReplyDeleteI am going to pick up Bunny Tales, that sounds like the kind of light read that I would love!
Oh you know how I roll- I make a video or two and then forgot about it for months. :) I will post another one when I am better at the ukulele. :) Paul and I already wrote a song for Jelly but he REFUSES to perform it for anyone but me!
DeleteYou will love Bunny Tales. I used to watch The Girls Next Door- that reality show with Hef's gfs. But this book gave WAY more info. I am surprised he doesn't make them sign confidentiality agreements.
This is awesome, love the vlog. Kristina keeps pressuring me to post some vlogs but both of yours come out great, very high standards to uphold. I'll stick to regular blogging lol
DeleteHey no standards here! I just give my hubby the ipad, mess up 2 times, and then on the 3 time just keep going whether I mess up or not!
DeleteOh I used to watch Girls Next Door too! I am surprised he doesn't make them sign confidentiality agreements too, but I guess every time they write something or talk about him it's another media mention for the Playboy brand.
DeleteI hope that everyone starts to vlog ;) It feels so much more personal to see someone on video and hear a voice!
Yes, I love hearing voices and seeing the person too. :) I mean I like to read as well, and some bloggers are really good writers, so I would miss it if they only did vlogs.
DeleteYou are so cute! I think I have a lady crush on you. Don't worry, I've been reading all of your posts, I just haven't commented in days and days because I usually read them on my phone while running on the treadmill (thanks injury). I REALLY related to your Worst Nutrition Advice post and just kept nodding my head over and over again. I think we'd be best friends if we lived close to each other.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading, Rachel! I am sorry you are stuck on the treadmill to run. :( I hope it is helping, and I am sure you are still getting outside for hikes and time down at the river. :) We would definitely be friends IRL. We'd lift and run together! Except I do all that before work and you like to do it after work!
