I have been having TONS of fun with my new Garmin this week! Today, I'm doing a long trail run with friends so I'm excited to play with my Garmin after! (The novelty may wear off eventually, so I'm having fun with the data for now!)
Monday- Light upper body at home. I had plans to run, but when I checked the weather, I saw there was a wind advisory- gusts up to 50mph!
No way, I don't run in that stuff. So I lifted again but went with lighter weights and higher reps.
Tuesday- 6 neighborhood miles. This was my first run with my new Garmin! It vibrates after I complete each mile, which alarms me. I will have to turn off that feature. I had fun checking out my heart rate during my run. I was in zone 3.5. I guess I have to look up what that means.
(5 minutes later...)
Okay, I just read one article that said Zone 3 is good, that is the aerobic zone. Then I read another one that says it's the "No Benefit Zone". Geez. Which is it?
Wednesday- Tempo workout- 6 miles total. This tempo run was inspired by the fact that I have been feeling like I have been in a running rut and I need to change things up. I alternated one mile at an easy pace and then one mile pushing the pace. It wasn't a sprint, just a little bit of a kick. Here were my splits: 8:40, 8:08, 8:48, 7:59, 8:57, 7:43. I felt accomplished.
Thursday- 6 miles. I was so tired because I woke up at 1:41 and never fell back asleep. Of course I didn't feel like running, but I knew my day was going to suck, but maybe it would be a little bit better if I got to run.
Friday- Lifting at home. I basically did Monday's workout.

Pigeon pose is one of my favorite post run stretches.
I am quite the running fashionista!
I remember scott saying it was going to be windy so we put some of our patio stuff away but we must have got all the wind over night because I didn't experience any of it the next day.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad you are enjoying your new Garmin. I wish mine had the vibrate function!
Maybe your next one will have vibrate! I am so pleased with mine, and it seems like ya get A LOT for the price.
DeleteI ran on my treadmill Monday when the weather was nasty. 50 mph winds? No thanks! I did an insanely windy half once, about 20-30 mph, damn near ended up in Lake Champlain.
ReplyDeleteLOL okay that last comment was funny. :) I ran along Lake Champlain once, but it was not windy.
DeleteFrom a few days ago, how do you like your new watch?? It looks really nice. I think the enlarged font was the biggest upgrade for me - my near vision *sucks* now (curses on being almost 50!!!). Everything is so easy to see on the new Garmin screens. I also love the vibrations instead of just sound for mile splits and other alerts. I still struggle with the HR stuff though - I guess I run every run too hard/fast, because my HR is always high. Maybe it's just the way I am because the runs don't always feel too hard!
ReplyDeleteI LOVE MY NEW WATCH!!! Lisa, I can't tell you how much easier it is to use than my old one. I am loving all the features that my old one didn't have. I am going to take a look at my HR just to see.
DeleteYeah I was interested in seeing what my HR was for lifting but it didn't get up too high! I swear it's higher while doing an especially hard puzzle hahaha!
ReplyDeleteDo you wear any reflective stuff ? or a headlamp?
ReplyDeleteYou are a totally kick ass lady in my book! running in the morning and in the wind!!
No way I did not run in that wind! My one jacket is reflective and I did wear that all week.
