Today's Friday 5 theme is FREE! (per the rules of the Friday 5 Link Up).
This means I can talk about anything I want to!
Don't worry, I will actually write something this week. (Last week my panties were in a twist about my car.)
So today I will talk about random stuff...
1. I DECIDED TO BUY A PIANO! The piano I am using now is my uncle's and it is so old and doesn't hold a tune very well anymore. I found some great leads on used pianos that are in mint condition, tuned, and offer free shipping within a certain mile radius. I am hoping to actually pull the trigger on this before I go back to work.
2. Paul and I booked a quickie beach getaway! In mid August, we are heading to Cape May, NJ for a day and then Wildwood, NJ for a day. After I booked the hotel, I realized it coincides with our 8 year wedding anniversary! How perfect!
3. On Tuesday, I got to hang out with my work friends at a BBQ. I am so lucky to not just like, but LOVE the people I work with. Not everyone has that! We all respect and trust each other. I have their back and they have my back. They make me laugh and they are truly like family.
4. NEW EARRINGS! I got these at Kohl's the other day on a whim. They are Jennifer Lopez, originally $18 but on clearance for $5.20. We got 30% off, which took the grand total down to $3.64. I AM IN LOVE!!!!!
5. And just a few funnies/food for thought for this Friday!
Today, I'm linking up with the DC girls for Friday 5!
I'm going to that area of the Jersey shore tomorrow! I have been going there with my family since I was 12. That will be a great anniversary getaway!
ReplyDeleteWhen I was younger I BEGGED my parents for a piano because I wanted to take lessons. Eventually they agreed and got one, but of course my interest didnt last long. I took lessons for years because they have invested in the piano. We still have it in their basement and it hasn't been touched in almost 20 years!
Have a great vacation!!!! :)
DeleteI didn't know you took piano lessons. :)
What a fun getaway for you. We are on a getaway, now and it coincided with Rick's Birthday so it is perfect. So happy you can get a decent piano. Totally worth it. Love those earrings. Happy Friday!
ReplyDeleteI hope you are having a great getaway! Happy Birthday, Rick! :)
DeleteWow, you have a lot of exciting things happening!
ReplyDeleteSummer's not over yet! :)
DeleteI'm going on a spontaneous getaway this weekend as well! I have the week off from work and my parents are at their summer place in Wisconsin. So my youngest and I will hit the road for a couple of days! Yay for summer!
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Have a great time!
DeleteI had a BBQ last Saturday and have one tomorrow! I'm going to get a couple sides for tomorrow and then I'm going to have fun :)
ReplyDeleteAwesome! Live it up!
DeleteYay for happy work friends and beach getaways and prescription cats!!! Ha ha!! So great. :)
ReplyDeleteRunning and cats make me very happy.
DeleteNobody invites the new girl to the work BBQ : ( I love the quote about being a masterpiece/hot mess I mean work in progress! Hope you have a great time on your mini-vacay!
ReplyDeleteOh it was called the "basement bunch" BBQ... 3rd and 4th gr teachers plus me cause I am in the basement! I am sorry, I didn't mean to write that and make you feel left out. :(
DeleteWildwood!!! My childhood summers were spent on the boardwalk every year. I have the best memories of getting up super early and riding bikes with my parents up and down the boardwalk, and eating junk like pizza and waffle and ice cream sandwiches at night. My mom went up and visited with her cousin earlier this year and said it had changed a lot - we haven't been together since I was maybe 13 - but I would love to go back! Take a lot of pics!! I can't wait to see!
ReplyDeleteThat is so cool! I used to go there with my family too but it definitely wasn't a yearly thing, we hit up a couple different beaches. The one thing I remember is the AWESOME WATER PARK there. I think Paul and I are gonna go. I love water parks!!! :)
DeleteI hope you do get a very nice piano. I played when I was young and the piano is still sitting in my parents house unplayed. We talk about selling it, but it looks so nice where it is.
ReplyDeleteYou know, I think pianos look beautiful in homes so I don't blame your parents for still having it despite it not being played.
DeleteThat's awesome you got a piano!! I wish I knew how to play :) Have a great weekend!
ReplyDeleteWell I didn't get one yet, I just decided I am going to!
DeleteTreat Yo' Self!
ReplyDeleteHahaha!
DeleteWe spent the weekend in Cape May a few weeks ago - so cute! We stayed at Congress Hall and it was awesome!
ReplyDeleteNice! We love Cape May!
DeleteI love that ice cream picture! My current favorite is Ben and Jerry's Half Baked Frozen Yogurt. That's so neat that you're buying a piano (I don't know how to play) and that you booked the beach trip. We just booked a trip to Seattle as an end-of-summer getaway and are really excited. You definitely deserve a nice trip!
ReplyDeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
Seattle will be awesome! That is somewhere we'd like to go. Any particular things you have on your list to do there?
DeleteIce cream all day every day :D
ReplyDeleteYou're my kind of girl. :)
DeleteWe'll see if I actually pull the trigger and purchase it...
