Happy Monday! Is there such a thing?
I don't really mind Mondays because I don't teach piano lessons after work. That means I can come home and just CHILL! Here's hoping it's a good day!
But here's what we were up to this weekend...
Fridays are magical! I have a bit of an extra pep in my step on Fridays since the end is near. I wonder if my students notice I am in a better mood on Fridays?
Paul has been feeling really crappy because he is back on chemo so I told him I'd pick up anything he wanted for dinner. His choice? Wendy's and DQ! We spent the evening watching Survivor and stuffing our faces.
I had a Jr. Cheeseburger Deluxe, 1/2 a chili, and 17 spicy nuggets. 17!!! I should have stopped at 10 because my belly was full.
Despite my crap dinner the night before, I felt pretty good on Saturday morning. I drank an iced coffee and set out for a neighborhood run. The plan was to do 10 miles. I was feeling pretty great! My ITB didn't bother me at all. I didn't look at my Garmin the entire time, just counted the "beeps" that clicked off every mile. I was pleased as a plum to see my paces and splits!
Apparently 17 nuggets + 17 hours of fasting = a really good run. No, I'm kidding. Don't try that at home...
That afternoon, I went to one of those Paint Nite parties. I have seen pictures on Facebook and the concept always fascinated me because everyone's paintings always turn out so nice! I am not artistic AT ALL, and I haven't painted since elementary school. I was a bit skeptical of how I would do but I ended up pleased with the result. My painting looks much better from a distance, though. More on THAT tomorrow!
Then Jelly and I watched the Republican Presidential Debate. It made us so angry that we had to take breaks and watch Garden Birds for awhile...
The best way to start off a Sunday is with a run! I was going to do 5 miles, but my brother called me at mile 4.3, so I talked with him and walked a mile. When I hung up, I decided to bang out another 1.7 to make it an even 6 miles. The weather was great and my legs felt fresh despite the 10 miles I put on them the day before.
Paul hung out with his buddies all afternoon and then left for a Superbowl party, so I had the house to myself. I spent a lot of time getting ready for the week ahead, doing a puzzle, and reading. Hey, rest and relaxation is what Sundays are all about, right!?
I was extremely excited when I heard Lady Gaga was singing the National Anthem. I knew she would do an awesome job and she did not disappoint! She is a SINGER and I appreciate that she sang it mostly straight. I will admit... she brought me to tears! Luckily no one was home to see me blubbering. Although I cry at Survivor so I don't think I'd get too much judgment from Paul!

What's the most chicken nuggets you ever ate? Twenty.
What's the longest you have fasted before a run?
What did you think of Lady Gaga?
Did you watch the debate?
So many questions!!!

I'll admit, I didn't watch the debate. At this point I know what they're all going to say and it just seems like watching would be putting myself through unnecessary stress and torture haha. When I think about the possibility of any of the republican candidates becoming president, my blood pressure skyrockets and I get major anxiety!
ReplyDeleteI really want to try one of those painting classes. We have plenty near us to try out, but I've just never bothered!
It was really fun. :) If you decide to do it, I think you will have a good time.
DeleteI also get anxiety when I think about one of them becoming president. Their core values go against everything I believe.
I've been interested in taking one of those painting classes for years but none of my friends want to do it with me! Hmm now that my mom lives here maybe I should trick her into coming with me :).
ReplyDeleteI thought GaGa was fantastic! Her hair bothered me a little bit, but her singing was great! I didn't really love the halftime show though. Bruno was Bruno which is nice but I didn't know the song Beyonce did. Coldplay was great but their energy felt awkwardly misplaced to me. I don't think the songs they did are upbeat enough for all of that jumping around - it felt forced!
The paint class would be a very fun mother/daughter activity! It is too bad you can't take Cecil. But then again, he is also a very accomplished artist. :)
DeleteHer hair... It was weird at first, but the more I looked at it, the more I liked it. I mean, a normal person could never pull that off, but for some reason she can! I will watch the halftime show today! I didn't catch it. But I heard on the news Beyonce performed a BRAND NEW song- like 2 days old or something and it was the first time she performed it live.
Lady Gaga nailed it! I am not a fan of her most of the time but when she really sings, she is amazing!
ReplyDeleteI do a lot of morning runs with at least 12 hours of fasting...but they are always the shorter ones. If I am goin upwards of 6, I will get food prior. <--That doesn't mean I won't eat and then sleep for another hour before running! ;)
She is a really great singer. :) Sometimes it's hard to tell when she does her other stuff.
DeleteI love that you go back to bed!!
I didn't watch the debate. But I did enjoy Larry David on SNL and Bern Your Enthusiasm. LOL!
ReplyDeleteAnd just say no to chicken nuggets.
The Bern Your Enthusiasm skit was AWESOME! I can't wait to show it to Paul. :)
DeleteYou know like chicken nuggets? You know they are the other white meat. ;)
Sounds like you had a great weekend! I didn't watch the debate, but I did see a clip of the candidates walking on to the stage. It was amazing how awkward Ben Carson and Donald Trump looked! I have no idea what they were thinking, but they looked creepy. I didn't actually see Lady Gaga, although I did see most of the super bowl and the half time show. That stage was really cool and I thought they did a good job.
ReplyDeleteIt was sooooo awkward! I mean, it wasn't their fault they couldn't hear, but it was really funny. I wonder if SNL will parody it. I didn't watch the halftime show yet but plan to catch it today.
DeleteI like wendy's chicken nuggets bu wow 17!!! You got me beat! I think I only ever ate the standard 5 or 6 that come in the pack!
ReplyDeleteYeah I went a little over the top... especially because I wasn't like abnormally hungry or anything. I was the normal amount of hungry. :)
DeletePaul is back on chemo? SHIT. I'm sorry to hear that, Meg. Wendy's helps take the edge off, but I know it's got to be disappointing for you guys. Wish I could come over and bring you a new puzzle or something. I can't wait to see your art! And I laughed out loud at the meme about Friday. Such a hilarious picture.
ReplyDeleteWendys sure does help. And wine. :( He mostly feels weak and nauseous, but hopefully it gets better.
DeleteI know that Friday picture makes me giggle.
I am certain I've ate at least 10 nuggets before, lol. Some of my best runs have been after I've ate like crap. I wonder if it's the mental guilt I feel???
ReplyDeletesame here! It seems like crap doesn't bother me (sometimes.)
DeleteI'd say 10 nuggets is the most I've eaten, LOL!!! I love that Friday pic, too!! It's so me when I am off on the weekends!
ReplyDelete10 is a nice round number. :)
DeleteIt's typical for me to eat a crappy meal before (and after) runs. My diet sucks so bad. :( I'm sorry to hear Paul is going through chemo. He's lucky to have you as a support system. My mother in law is currently on chemo--we've lost count on how many bouts it's been :(
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear your MIL has had to be on chemo for so long.
Delete:( I'm sure it affects everyone differently but I don't think there are any GOOD side effects heh.
Huh, there was a debate? So not into politics. I know, I know. Bad me. But hey, new Survivor starting soon!! Woohoo to that! We're going to watch the Superbowl tonight off our DVR - the commercials & half time - so I'm looking forward to Lady Gaga performing now.
ReplyDeleteCan't wait to hear about the painting night. I too have seen my friend's works of art and they actually look pretty good!
Hey as long as you VOTE! :)
DeleteOh my gosh, I have no idea how many chicken nuggets I've eaten at once! This weekend I was reminded of how sensitive my stomach can be with eating weird things before I run. I also don't do well running later than 8 or 9am!
ReplyDeleteI don't eat crap a lot so it always surprises me that when I do eat crap, it doesn't bother me too much. I mean, it makes me crap a lot but I crap a lot anyone. :)
DeleteI don't know how many nuggets I have eaten in one sitting, but I do think the meal where I ate the absolute most food ever was a sushi dinner in Mexico. I could not stop. I don't ever fast before I run. I can't. I loved Lady Gaga--she was amazing! Made me cry. I hope Paul starts to feel better soon. I am sure all the things you do for him help--even Wendys!
ReplyDeleteIt is so easy to eat a lot of sushi. :) I freaking love it!
DeleteI watched the debate. Barf. No more than a nugget or two for me. I hope Paul is feeling better!
ReplyDeleteAt least the intro was hilarious. :)
DeleteOh I have to keep up so I know who to vote for.
ReplyDeleteThat's a great idea because the media can SPIN things.
ReplyDeleteAnd yes Bernie was hilarious! We found the Bern Your Enthusiasm skit super funny because we LOVE Curb Your Enthusiasm. :) Larry David is the best.
