Winter has finally hit Central PA! The shit has hit the fan and I had a couple "two pairs of pants runs" this week. January is my least favorite month of the year. February is my second and March is my third. Oh boy, it's going to be a long winter! It is no surprise that I am better a sticking to a lifting schedule of 3 days a week during the winter. I try to look at the weather ahead of time and schedule my "lifting in my jammies" days to when it dips below zero! Obviously, I didn't plan ahead very well this week, but I had no idea winter was about to smack me in the face!
Sunday: REST DAY! My quads and kneecaps were sore. I did work up a sweat taking down all of my Christmas decorations and cleaning the house!
Monday: I lifted chest at home in my jammies. It was my first day back to work so I was feeling homey. Also, I still felt a little bit of soreness from the race.
Chest Press- 5x10x25lb
Bicycle Crunches- 4x40
Push Ups- 5x10
Shoulder Press- 5x10x20lb
Chest Press (neutral grip)- 3x15x15lb
Stability Ball Pull Ins- 3x15
Wednesday: I got a little cocky since the temperature was 15 degrees, not ZERO like the day before. I only put on one pair of pants. My good gloves were still wet from the day before, so I put on my not so warm pair. Bad idea. My booty and thighs were freezing and I had to stop at home at mile four to find another pair of gloves.
Splits: 8:46, 8:18, 8:18, 8:20, 7:54
Thursday: Lifting at home. Jelly hijacked my towel for a short amount of time, and no I am not one of those cat owners that would shoo him off. I'm one of those cat owners that takes a picture and then gets out another towel!
Band Asst. Wide Grip Pull Ups- 5x6
Bicycle Crunches- 5x40

Band Asst. Neutral Grip Pull Ups- 3x8, 1x6

Here in NJ it has not been that cold so I actually was able to run outside a couple of times. I don't have a cat, but i do have a dog and I would be the one to get up and get a new towel. I would feel bad moving her. I have only ran with one pair of pants. If its that cold we are not going to go running outside.
ReplyDeleteI like that you draw the line at one pair of pants! :)
DeleteI bet most animal people (dog OR cat would just go get a new towel! We are kindred spirits! :)
Winter has completely smacked CO right in the face. The first week in December I had to do all my runs inside due to so much snow. Since then I have braved the frigid cold but thankfully only one pair of really good (really expensive) running tights. Today was back in the snow w/ my spikes--talk about slow running. Seriously on the countdown to sunny days! If Macy is on my towel I would get another towel. She is just too damn cute. Have a fabulous weekend!
ReplyDeleteI guess that is the downfall to living in CO BUT all the beauty has to make up for it. I have been researching that Trail Ridge road and we are DOING IT!
DeleteYep, it really is the most amazing place I just would love to skip over Jan/Feb since I hate snow and cold. But those that love snow are in heaven all year long! Oh, yes, go up to Estes thru RMNP, over Trail Ridge Road into Grand Lake then onto Granby, Winter Park. You will LOVE it. I'm so excited for you guys!!
DeleteSo much in common:
ReplyDelete-When I workout at home it is often in my jammies.
-I will also get another blanket if Lola is napping on mine. <3
-We had a crazy cold day on Tuesday. We didn't even let the kids out to play at recess because the temp was -15. My run had me -looking like a marshmallow as well.
-I also worked up a sweat taking down Christmas!
-Look at all those 4s on your last run!!!
lol do you like 4s????
DeleteHey I think you are a pretty cool chick so if we have a lot in common I'll TAKE IT! :)
It was really cold here early in the week but since then its warmed up a bit! I am with you on your least favorite month ratings. January is always the toughest for me to get through!
ReplyDeleteIt warmed up here now too! Rainy and dreary, but not bitter cold at least!
DeleteIt got warm this weekend as well. Now tomorrow it is supposed to be friggin cold again!
ReplyDeleteAnd the sad thing is our cats don't know how good they have it. ;)
