Hello! Today I have a VLOG coming at you! Note: I am still not good at VLOGS! I actually didn't watch this one because I didn't want to hear my voice!
This is not a "You should eat what I eat" post.
It's more of a "Here is how I make sure I have something healthy to eat for lunch" post.
My strategies may work for you or they may not!
If you don't feel like watching my video, here is a quick run down of what I do.
1. I pack my lunches on Sunday. Then it is easy to grab each morning!
2. I base the type/amount of food I eat on my scheduled workout for the day. A lifting day may require more protein. A day that included a morning 8 miler may entail a little extra rice.
3. Sometimes I put more than one day's worth of food in the same container so I can decide at work how big of a portion to eat. My schedule is different every day. Some days I eat at 11. Some days I eat at 2:30! It is nice to have some options on how much to eat based off of how hungry I am and how long the meal has to last me.
Tell me your lunch packing strategies!
I like my chicken burnt too. In fact I like almost everything extra burnt... it adds flavor :)
ReplyDeleteI am always impressed with people who pack their lunches or make dinners a week in advance. I just pack my lunch the night before and it's left overs of whatever I made for dinner. If I don't have leftovers I usually get a turkey sub for lunch from Publix or Subway, except for Tuesdays when I go to the sushi place down the street from my office!
I like burnt chicken, hot dogs, and sausages! When I was a kid my mom would make me burnt pancakes because that is what I liked. :)
DeleteI imagine it is easy to just throw dinner leftovers in tupperware! I HATE packing my lunch. It is so depressing. So if I do it all on Sunday night, then I only have to do it once. Plus, I already have all the ingredients out, so I may as well just fill several tupperware containers while I'm at at.
I pack 4 lunches every morning--Yes, I still pack the kids' lunch. Mainly, because we don't get home from school until 630pm, then they have a LOT of homework, then we are up and on the road early again the next day (long commute). I have to say, making lunches is my LEAST favorite. I also make them so that they get enough protein, otherwise, they make a thin PBJ--not enough for kids in sports several hours after school! I would love to make them ahead of time for the week, but I wouldn't have room in my fridge!
ReplyDeleteYou totally wouldn't have room! I barely have room for my lunches in our fridge! I think it's great you pack your kids their lunches!
DeleteI like burnt food, too! I am all about the burnt marshmallows when making s'mores! OK, dumb question: do you heat up your lunch since you put in frozen broccoli? I assume yes but I just gotta ask. LOL. I only have to pack lunch 2 days per week (Mon + Wed) and I grab these vegetarian burritos and baby carrots. So quick, so easy probably not the best choice but I figure it all balances out w/ my healthy breakfasts and healthy dinners. I also buy myself one can of soda each time I go into the office (again, this is my way of having a little of something I love but it doesn't get out of control...)
ReplyDeleteSorry Susan I don't know how I missed your comment! My mom emailed me to tell me I missed your comment on this blog. :) Leave it to moms! Burnt marshmallows are GOOD! Yes I do heat up my lunch but it doesn't take long because it is always melted by the time I eat it.
DeleteI just started making my meals for the week on Sunday too. So far it's been the same thing for lunch every day. I wonder if I will soon get tired of it..lol
ReplyDeleteI am usually so hungry I don't care. Unless someone makes something really yummy and I smell it... like Olive Garden leftovers. Then I wish I had something more fun for lunch.
DeleteYou're so cute! I love your voice. But I know that feeling of not liking our own voices. Weird eh? I haaaate packing lunches. I pack lunches for 5 people every day, and I usually get them done during the day when Callum naps or when he's playing. If I packed 25 lunches on the weekend, there would be nowhere to store them and we already have two fridges! We'd need a third one. :/
ReplyDeleteI can barely fit mine so I can't imagine how you would fit yours! It seems like everyone hates packing lunches. I mostly hate it because Christmas gets in my way (CHICKEN!!!) and of course it is just a reminder that tomorrow I have to go back to work.
DeleteYou are the cutest! I do the same thing. I usually do a piece of grilled chicken and a baked sweet potato. I am totally making some roasted potatoes this week, though! Awesome vlog!
ReplyDeleteCool we eat the same lunch!
DeleteYour vlog is great! I admire how organized you are with your planning. I guess you have to be if there are no other lunch options. I am all about tailoring my food intake to activity as well. It makes a difference for sure!
ReplyDeleteWhen I am organized it makes me feel in control and then saves time in the mornings! I am sure you probably do similar stuff since you are all about a healthy lifestyle! :)
DeleteI tried to comment on this while Iw as out of town and it wouldn't go through!
ReplyDeleteDo you put frozen broccoli in your lunch?
I try to pack a couple days' worth of food at a time to save me the effort of bringing lunch to school, too!
Yes it is frozen but I warm it up in the microwave. :)
